    Hi Guys, that yellow line that was on the original (old) timing belt, is to be placed during installation in line with the upper camshaft timing mark; to show if their is at any time slippage on the belt. Their is no other reason for the mark.
    A great video otherwise.
    Regards.

    I aligned both marks (camshaft and fuel pump) but fuel pump was not perfectly 100% aligned. I would say I was missing about 1-2mm. I turned the crankshaft to perfectly align the marks of fuel pump and fuel pump pulley (and alignment marks) turned backwards. Did I screw the timing? How can I align again the pump? The camshaft stayed firm and aligned. Thanks for your time

    Use the marks of the original belt on the new belt. Or make some markings on the belt before removing it from the engine, then transition the marks for the new belt. Could be way easier to align it.

    You guys saved me a fortune, I'm an electronics engineer by trade but that doesn't transfer well to Automotive at the best of times, but your instructional youtube is just so very well done, it made the job a lot easier. Over here in Australia, I was quoted mega bucks for the kit and the labour by Toyota and we are in a rural area of Australia, so nothing is cheap. I was able to buy the exact kit off ebay which was half the price of the dealership here and the ironic part was, the supplier was a Toyota dealer in one of the major cities who supplied the genuine parts. I will admit that I had my mate Dave Shields with me, he was invaluable just like tom is to you I would say. Two sets of eyes on the process is better than one especially when one is electronics based and thinks everything can be fixed with a multi-meter and a spectrum analyser. Probably took us a little longer due to some silly apprentice mistakes, but overall, would not have had the confidence to do this without your video. I personally learned a lot about lining up timing marks and the why this is done, so that was the great thing about having Shieldsy .(In Australia, mates are just invaluable, especially in the country where we have to fix things on the fly quite a bit.) Shiledsy made me think about things when I was confused, and I know he could have done it in half the time, but taking the time to work with me, a great bonus. So in summary, great video, thank you from Dave and I for all your help, just a priceless video for anyone looking to change out a timing belt on the 3.0L D4D Toyota Hilux. Over here in Australia for Australians to note, this is the SR5 version of the Toyota if you are unsure, exactly the same as the MK6 Vigo. Look forward to your next video, Cheers Brenton Tangambalanga North East Victoria Australia....(VK3CM to any ham radio operators reading this)

    HELLO,i want know something...if i use to change that timing belt..,i forgot to pull that pin out of tensioner when engine start..what happens??

    • @tanmansu
      @tanmansu 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Muhammad AKMAL You have to remove the pin . Basically , the tensioner is placed in a vice , the rod is compressed till the hole in the rod lines up with the hole in the body of the tensioner , then you fit in the pin ( you can fit an Allen key 1.2 instead ), when you fit the tensioner , you remove the pin , so that the rod moves forward and applies tension against the idler pulley , and this holds the timing belt in place . If you dont remove the rod , the timing belt will be very loose , and my slip of off causing damage to the engine .

    hi nice video. i have a toyota hi ace with a 2kd engine. a machanic rebuild my engine and after he did it it started to make a knoking sound. can it be the fuel injection pump? does it need to be timed with the camshaft ?

  • @tapster15
    @tapster15 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've come to this very useful video (thanks gentlemen!) a bit late for commenting but if there's anyone out there, am I right in thinking that you could put back the new idle pulley and the tensioner unit BEFORE you fit the belt.
    Obviously, you wouldn't remove the 'fire extinguisher' pin until tension was needed.
    It seems to me that it would be easier to replace those two parts without the belt flapping about.
