It's an interesting path of evolution. It's like they trade off one advantage for the other. Being a parasitic bird, you have the advantage of your offspring eliminating the other birds indigenous to the nest, prioritizing its own survival. But on the flipside, this strategy makes it borderline impossible to be able to see multiple cuckoo at a time all the way to maturity. The cuckoo will always either eliminate it's siblings or all of them will just die from a constant struggle that never goes anywhere.
That's also not mentioning the fact that the cuckoo's strategy of being big, constantly loud and flashy is great in a vacuum, but often leads to the cuckoo being the target of predators. When just dealing with the host parents this all works fine, but such tactics show that the dumb cuckoo has no instinctual comprehension that it simply isn't at the top of the food chain in the wild.

To say a bird is inanimate first of all, does not exonerate it for its murderous, gluttonous, disgusting, selfish evil instinct natural or unnatural. But regardless of that, birds have beene domesticated since antiquity and therefore to call them inanimate is no different than calling a dog or a cat inanimate and im sure millions of dog owners would disagree and take exception to that (myself included as a dog owner.) It happens. One mother lays one egg, but there could be multiple mothers parasiting in one nest - they don't discriminate. According to Wiki, there might be even more cuckoo's eggs in one nest.
@bunnysm Maybe, but they shouldn't evolve to do that, since the cuckoo will push each other out. In this particular video, it's 99% fake, as I hadn't seen any natural bird nest with wooden sticks laid so neatly around it.

Well, the channel owner put away the original chicks (or one cuckoo was in the nest and killed all the other chicks), and put two cuckoos in this nest, so he can be sure to have much clicks to show such "cuckoo-fights". The fact that as hatchling, it not only knows how to push others out of the nest but defends itself from getting push out is mind blowing.
