It gives a false sense of security. Improve your braking skills rather than “upgrading” to disc brake.
As a regular cyclist I always feel na para sa road bike hindi bagay ang disk brake , and I will go to your recommendation na I dont need disk brake , actually ayokong masayang ang pag pedal ko kung palaging ginagamit ang brake..and I think rim brake is sufficient enought to slow me down if needed.,.thank you so much sa iyong mga recommendation and it trully added good thinking on our daily cyclin...
Depends on your preference, place where you ride and style of riding. I've been using rim brakes for more than 20 years and shift to disc brake because of my problem with warp and braking power since I ride uphill and downhill. I will sacrifice speed and rubbing since I ride less on flats. Besides I love adjusting my bikes ✌🚴
Thank you Thank you Thank you! Finally someone brought out this issue about rim brakes vs disc brakes on road bikes. Muntik na ako umorder ng road bike with disc brake for my first road bike, now i will return to my initial choice of road bike with v brakes, thank you!
I agree, also not a fan of disc brakes for RB. I love the squeezing control of a rim brakes and not the hard and sometimes sudden stop of using disc brakes. I'd rather buy a good high end brand of rim brake pads than upgrading to disc brakes. The problem with today's generation ng mga nagbabike is they easily get hooked with trends at not by preference and experience. Thank you for enlightening them.
Good thing I have MTB calipers and SLX rotors on my road bike. Never had issues with braking or rubbing down twisty wet roads (Shotgun, Timberland, Marilaque). The road calipers may need more refining.
Totally agree with you. Spot on buddy! Unless you ride in the rain, that will be the only fail of carbon rims. Me.. I just put my alloy wheel when I know we have bad weather here in Mallorca. Im using diskbrakes on my roadbike. Galing ako sa rim brakes. And I really love diskbrakes!!!😁 Modern looking and hamak lakas ng braking power. You can also use it as emergency braking. 👍👍👍😁
my officemate have rb na naka rim brake. ok lang naman daw pag maaliwalas ang panahon pero. pag tag ulan. hndi masyadong kumakapit. at madali mapudpud yung rim sa kaka brake. kaya mtb nalang ginagamit nya pag tag ulan. kung rubbing issue lang pag uusapan. nag rarub din ang rim brakes kaya tao ang may issue dyan kung overheat naman, hndi kopa naging issue yan kahit nag downhill ako sa 20% na gradient at over 70kph. kahit naka brake na. may paraan para hndi mag overheat ang brake. at lalo ng mas mahal bumili ng rim pag napudpud kaysa bumili ng disc 😅 at pag napudpud na ang rim tapos nasa rides kapa malaking disgrasya yan. pero katangahan na kung mapudpud yung disc while on rides. makikita mo naman yun kasi visible naman kahit hndi mo i check .😅
Isa ding con ng disc, mas maarte kaysa rimbrakes syempre. Kahit sa mtb or rb yan. Minsan sumasayad nga sa pads kaya need mo mag-adjust. Mas maraming maintenance and disc.

Good explanation on upgrading from Rim Brakes to Disk Brakes. Sometimes, as you said "nakikiuso" or trending. I have 4 Road bikes with Rim brakes and no plan to upgrade anytime soon (Walang Pera).

Hmm. May point, maganda yung point.
Totally agree.. im building a RB and come across to this.. i have the same issues uso and disc brake i wanted my bike to be on that hype.. Another reason din dahil nagpapalit din to disc brake is because of tire clearance. Dahil sa iba rin siguro gusto ng disc is due to tire versability if in case gusto gumamit ng 30-32c
Rim brake to disc brake user here.

Good video. Some practical points for choosing rim brakes over disc brakes, it is really a matter of professional and personal opinion, as well as what you'll be using your bike for. My only question is, why did you use that clip (the one where a cyclist had a braking malfunction and hit the sidewall of the corner)? Because it seems he was using rim brakes rather than discs. Please clarify the intent as to why you included that clip in your presentation. Thanks!
I think it was to stress the issue on braking hard - the road bike’s thin tire is much more prone to a sudden flat (and accident) if the braking is too hard, compared to a mountainbike’a thicker wheels which can better survive the sudden friction caused by a hard brake.
Caliper and disk brake user here, kung hinde ka sumasali sa Road racing / competition and prefer mo just riding for fun short or long rides maganda ang disk brake specially kung naka shimano 105 to dura ace gamit mo smooth and powerful. Sa Road racing kasi bakit nagiging issue ang disk brake kasi hinde naman kailangan ng strong stopping power remember they want to ride faster and not slow kung kailangan mag brake just a light tap lang sa brake lever para pumiga ang caliper brake to slow the rider for a while.. other issue ng mga "PRO riders" vs disc brake is extra weight and difficulties mag palit ng gulong ng mabilisan in critical moments and brake pad rubbing. Na kung just a regular rider ka and not into competition hinde magiging issue ang disk brake.
Ang saya magbasa sa comment kase makikita mo yung mga di nakakagets sa mga naka-gets its all about savings at pagiging depende tama nga road na dadaanan mo like sa nabasa ko knina pinagpipilitan nila yung mas madali raw magpalit ng rotor unlike sa rim pero haha basta nakakatuwa po na naintindihan ko kayo yung iba kase basta nalang nagtype tas nung nagreply kayo parang napikon pa ata samantalang sinasabi nyo lng yun point nyo. KELAN KAYA MATATANGGAP NG MGA KABABAYAN NATEN ANG PAGTATAMA SA KANILA NG DI NAPIPIKON? HAHAHA THANKS SIR LORENZ ❤️ RS!

Sir ang galing mong mag paliwanag Good job sir.
Ang saya magbasa sa comment kase makikita mo yung mga di nakakagets sa mga naka-gets its all about savings at pagiging depende tama nga road na dadaanan mo like sa nabasa ko knina pinagpipilitan nila yung mas madali raw magpalit ng rotor unlike sa rim pero haha basta nakakatuwa po na naintindihan ko kayo yung iba kase basta nalang nagtype tas nung nagreply kayo parang napikon pa ata samantalang sinasabi nyo lng yun point nyo.
KELAN KAYA MATATANGGAP NG MGA KABABAYAN NATEN ANG PAGTATAMA SA KANILA NG DI NAPIPIKON?
HAHAHA
THANKS SIR LORENZ ❤️ RS!
Nice one idol. Diko na need mag upgrade ng disc 😍
The one advantage of disc brakes is that if you have carbon wheelset it will noy warp
Idol thank you sa information 👌
Just new sa channel nyo n i agree with most of your opinion. Stay safe always and God bless.
Salamat din po 🤙
