Which is why he does it. Offers nothing to the song other than look at me. God Jonny is a god though. No showmanship, just composition and playing and could do it behind a curtain and would not care
I just love how winded Thom is after the performance, while Jonny just calmly puts his pick away as if he didn't just shred his heart out seconds earlier.
i saw them live in Chicago a few years ago and Johnny opened the show playing guitar with his band for 45min-1 hour then did the nearly 3 hour show right after. The man’s stamina is absolutely crazy
God this is SOOO Good! Jonny Greenwood is a legend. In Rainbows is my favorite album of all time and this performance was incredible. I come back to it all the time to get some joy when I need it.
@@thezeek2745 because there is some layered syncopated shit going on with the snare that you can't play with one set of drums. There is 4 hits on the snare on each bar, a basic 4/4 beat only has 2 per bar. I'm not totally won over by the live version, but I love the energy and the studio version is brilliant. Best Radiohead B-Side (though Talk Show Host gives it stiff competition) and up there with some of their best songs overall.
I find it amusing Thom plays drums on this song but he's one of only two not playing drums on There There, even more so when they added a second live drummer

far as l am concerned the entire effort can stay 'in the basement'. Talk about orchestrated crap, just barely rythmic sound bites of mostly discord. I got rid of some tenants who played even worse... When I asked- why is everything off key, and a-kilter? they said "that's the point". Now you can guess why they are NO LONGER tenants. My ears couldn't take them any longer!
