Hi Lauren. I'm a retired upholsterer, running my shop for 28 years. That band around the bottom of the chairs is called double welt. The trim around the sewing that people might call piping is what we in the biz call welt. For ripping the skirt off I used to use pliers and roll it up around them. We use an Osborne staple knocker to lift staples and diagonal cutters to lift the remaining staple if there is any.
Chairs are so pretty!! Color difference looks like a design element.

I've seen people add a cute coordinating trim to cover the color change and it looks pretty nice.

Still have and love my mom's light green velvet swivel rockers! Yep they are faded but maybe someday I'll get them recovered as are comfortable and have so many memories! Glad to see you getting back to your roots.

These are my favorite of all your Velvet chair flips. They look brand new. I would have been a buyer! I love the color, like REALLY love it!! And the color change at the bottom doesn’t bother me at all. It is subtle and could easily be a part of the design. Thanks for doing another flip. I started in September and I’ve flipped and sold 5 so far with another getting delivered this week. I currently have two for sale that are waiting for their new homes. I think it’s still profitable but can sometimes take longer to sell. Just gotta wait for the right buyer!

OMG I hope you flip my chairs I love love love this!!!!!
You could get more profit if ya chaulk paint the chairs! Like a pretty white color! Research chaulk painting fabric for instructions on watering down the paint and softening the fabric! You can add some decorative gold or nickle studs to the front bottom skirt also that would look cute. My sister has a store where she sells her flipped items!

If I lived near you, I'd buy them
Try a seem ripper! They work great and you don't run the risk of tearing the fabric.
A staple remover would work better than a seam ripper because these are staple on not sewn
Love your flips ..but id personally be afraid id get some upholstered chairs and they would have bedbugs in them.

I have seen other flippers use some kind of insecticide or something like that to treat them just in case. I’m sorry I don’t remember which flipper I saw do it. Maybe Desert DIY. 🤷♀️
I use a Jiffy steamer to: kill any possible insects, parasites, & larvae; destroy any possible mold/mildew on the inside or outside; remove odor; help clean the material even better/deeper.

That's a really good idea. Like if one day the frill becomes fashionable again, it can just be de-stapled and dropped back down.
That is definitely doable just more time consuming. Some chairs require it as the fabric doesn’t always wrap completely around the bottom of the chair. Whenever I can though I tear off the skirt instead

I'm sorry to say, but in the UK were I'm from, something like this would only sell for around £60 that's about $75, it's so pitiful. Xx
... also in the UK . . . that's if they woud sell at all in my experience. Used upholstered furniture has a very limited market.
@@robgullen you're right there Rob, not much is selling at the moment, all I've managed to sell this year are unopened paint I no longer need. I've been trying to sell all sorts of things and nothing is selling, even before what's happening in the UK. Xx

How can people not say anything about the different shades of green???.... that's the first thing my eyes go to.....I agree with the one comment about cutting the skirt shorter and stapling it underneath, then you wouldn't notice the "50 shades of green".....just sayin'.....
