Hey guys I got my iboards today couldn't understand the paper instructions but I have to say I watched your video and I was able to knock it out in two and a half hours thank you guys for making such a thoroughly made video really help me make a difference!
Thanks for the video, I have the same truck,In white. I've had these boards sitting in my amazon cart all week. Gonna go ahead and get them. Your Truck looks awesome with them installed.👍👍
This video made it really easy to install my new running boards. I have a 2018 Sierra Elevation Edition. And it went together flawlessly. And I agree about the passenger front mount. It didn't need to be the 2 piece system. But they probably package it that way for all vehicles. Thanks again!
thanks guys I appreciate it a lot I got kind of scared couldn't find anyone else that had the same running boards with the rails on it .. y'all made it look easy, now I'm going to go try it , appreciate y'all making the video 👍.
Great video, appreciate it very much. It made the installation so much easier and answered a bunch of questions that I had. This helped immensely. Good job.
I just did mine today and this video helped. Easy job once you get going, Don't like the front Passenger bracket not sure why they did that. Thanks for the video
Gary I believe they do that bracket because it universal kit for 1500-thru 3500 and the diesels have the def tank there. So the bracket must interfere with the def tank .
Paisteboy... pressure wash that under carriage and the paint over the exisiting wax frame coating with rustoleum oil based gloss black enamel. Im on my second truck this year after a trade in. There know to rust.. this trick works wonders
paisteboy no problem. There is also a tsb and the dealer is fixing them under warranty. They pulled my cab and bed and stripped and recoated the frame with wax..
Thank you for making this easy to understand video. It answered some questions that I was wondering about. I know it has been a few years since you made it but I am replacing factory rails on my 2007 Silverado and it is set up the same as yours. One, question, does the rails protrude out to the edge of the front mud flaps, or do they like an inch or so? Thanks.
I wish I could help but I don't have that truck anymore so I can't check. The one that I can say is that I liked the amount that they stuck out. Plenty to step on.
Thanks so much for this video! I'm about to order the same exact boards for my 17 crew cab as well (my truck is black so I'm going with the all black ones).
That 1 odd bracket is for the passenger front side on the 2500HD diesel trucks. The diesel trucks have a diesel exhaust fluid tank under the cab on the passenger side so that bracet is designed to work around the DEF tank. I just ordered a set of running boards and it didn't come with that bracket. Trying to find one now.
Where can you get new bolts and nuts that go in the running board slots, square heads, mine are rotten and fallen out. the aluminum is turning to powder where the head was also. I may have to slide board down a little. Thanks
Not exactly sure but lowes has a pretty good hardware section. If not try a specialty company like Fastenal. I don't think that iboard sells replacement hardware.
I have the stainless steel version and there is more to it with sliding brackets underneath with same screws that mount to mounting brackets attached to the vehicle and those are c channel style when done looks like youres
hey this was very goood talking doing step by step great stuff guys helps tells me what kind of blots and all what kind of paint do the brackets have to stop rust
Had someone back in and the iboard kept them from damaging my truck. The brackets are ruined, the board was fine. Only bad thing......cant just buy new brackets. But it's cheaper than replacing the door so I got some more
Just bought a W2W version of this for my 2013 sierra. Two 8mm nut clips missing, It seems i only got enough hardware for standard front to passenger running boards not wheel to wheel even though the last brackets are included. Think ace hardware standard thread clips should work but will be making a complaint for sure. The only bracket i left loose was the 4th rear because it only attache's with one 18mm bolt. I Installed the running board and all the brackets are flexible enough to snug up if they are a little off, then i tightened the rear bracket i left loose. The reason i chose to tighten up the other brackets because honestly they only go on one way and the only adjustments you can make are with spacers. Seeing how flexible the brackets were it seemed like overkill because they just sinch up to the board regardless. I think if adjustment is required doing it on the boards themselves and not the brackets seems more practical.
no i have ext. cab version but i did purchase through amazon. the clips that are missing are for the 4th bracket. The instructions say there are two bolts existing to remove to be reused for bracket when only one bolt is there and i need clip nuts, one for each 4th rear bracket.
IBoards ext. cab W2W 6.5' for sierra 2013 I got the passenger side installed today with the two Ace hardware standard thread clips and bolts. I did leave the odd front passenger bracket and rear "4th" rear bracket loose until board was fastened in place. Its obvious the clips were just missing from kit because the corresponding bolts were there unless they assumed i had tac welded nuts, i dont'.
Ive been going back and forth with a seller from Amazon whom ive purchased these iboards from. There is absolutely no reason why this pass front bracket should be like this and i keep telling them that. They just keep responding with " Its the correct bracket". There is no threaded insert on the inside rocker or a welded nut on the bottom location. The mounting location looks exactly identical to the every other spot. 2015 Silverado double cab.
Good video. I just got the exact same truck (color too!) a month ago and I am about your size and the way they mount looks a little sketchy. How do they feel when you step on them, do they feel sturdy enough? Are they slippery to step on when wet or now that you've had snow up there? I am thinking of getting these but in black and the wheel-to-wheel style to have a step to reach into the front of the bed.
Jim X it didn’t say on the instructions. Just make em tight. Took me about 35min start to finish. The last bracket for front passenger is weird other then that easy install. Looks great.
I would advise pulling the truck up on ramps, it looks kinda low to the ground? do you plan on putting level kit in the front? or is this just for custom look?
I traded the truck in just after Christmas and go a brand new GMC Sierra. Maybe I'll do another video this summer putting running boards on it. Thanks for watching.
How are they holding up? Have you looked under the truck at all to see how the hardware is holding up? I've seen some comments on other videos about the hardware rusting out and failing after 3 to 5 years! I just ordered a set for my truck earlier this week. I'm hoping that maybe they just didn't care for them properly.
@@Paisteboy I'm with you on that. I was also thinking maybe they lived up north where salt could've been a factor as well. Who knows! I have a set coming in about a week. For the price I'll give em a go!
Are there longer brakes, I just installed some in my Silverado but I think they are to tight . It is only about 1 1/2 between it and the truck is it right?
Paisteboy did you truck come with the front lower bed corner plastic cover protector? I have 15 gmc and it doesnt have anything like that and that corner point the paint likes to chip there already. My dads 15 2500 doesn't either his just have in rear part of fenders where mud flaps go. so we just put his flaps over them. Since gmc comes with fender flares I didn't have other plastic on the fender opening besides the rear fender front mud flap.
Thanks, I forgot say keep up the good videos, I been watch some of them for a few years now, I have sled like your old one. I'm in lower part of New York below Binghamton. I did some research last night and looks like in 16 they started that piece.
youres must be aluminum ? i got the polished stainless steel and they look like youres but turn mine over and they are totally different more alignment work i guess the stainless are built different i originally ordered 5 inch and recieved 6 inch when i contacted the seller they were a upgrade for free too many people order 5 inch then regret it afterwards so he sends out 6 inch as a free upgrade ?? so for those ordering 5 inch remember 6 inch is only a inch plus they are also thicker
It would be nice if the company allowed you to actually purchase and extra set of brackets or give you the option to have all the same brackets. There is no customer service phone number anywhere and all i want to do is get a normal bracket
I installed the boards very easy to do after watching this. However I do not like the way the brackets hang down below the boards. Would not have purchased had I noticed this.
mark that is not a shock absorber for the cab, thats a cab mount, my boards mounted to the cab mounts, i wouldnt want a 225lb guy stepping on these mounts christ the tin is so cheap cant see that holding without bending the hell out of the edge of your body, th eidea if anything hit running boards and they were bolted to cab mounts they dt bend where the body mounts will
This is the same way that the factory running boards from Chevy would be installed. It's not iBoards design. It's GM's location. No issues with the boards so far.

Any complaints with the 6" being too big? I was leaning towards the 5" because I didn't want them to be too big or stick out too far.
I like them at 6 inches but if you are really worried about it get the 5 inch.
silver on the silver truck looks real slick
