      It'd be nice if the engine was larger, but otherwise it's in a different league than sleds or snow bikes. It may not be very fast but it looks like it has the right power to weight ratio and gearing, along with rider placement to keep moving in even deep snow without bogging down like a snow bike would with the same 250cc engine. So it's hard to compare the price to the HP, like we can with sleds and other powersport toys.

    I have said for many years that a stand up sled would be where it’s at! Unless trails are 100% flat, I find myself standing frequently. When the trails are whooped out, ya gotta stand. I understand this really isn’t a trail machine, but I think ergonomically it would be great. I wanna test one out! Thanks for the review, STTV!

    I've been following these online since April of this year. (2022) I immediately thought about just how cool it was. Thought about all the different really fun areas there are to ride that here in Minnesota, especially northern Minnesota. Even fresh snow ditch banging would be a blast on one of those! I finally got to thes in person at HayDays. Since I was in the swaps I was able to check them out on Friday. Chatted with the guy there for a while and got a really good look at them

    I'd compare this to the pit bike size snow bike Grind Hard Plumbing Co. tested out a couple years ago. They said even though it was small in size and had a 190cc pit bike engine, it did so well because of it's low gearing and also rider placement. Instead of having the track mounted where a tire would be (behind the rider), the track was at least halfway underneath the seat. With this one, it looks like they did an even better job. A 500cc engine would be nice for more power, but still this would be fun for sure.

For tree riding, and shredding lake shores, this thing would rock, they way I always wished my snow hawk would. I splurged on a Surrron X with a track kit last year and still have zero regrets, I mean zero regrets. The surron needs a belly pan for deep snow but is still amazing for checking things out in trees and bush bashing. It's like the narrowest bravo LT ever, but third the weight and a better cushioning than leaf springs lol. I imagine being gas this would have a better range with a reasonably similar riding experience, and seems to float well in snow. Epic..... Considering the Surron w/track kit is about 10k (can also be used in the summer as a large pit bike), I might just have to get one of these for the trips a little longer than 40km.

    • @thryago
      @thryago ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pavmentsurfer13 Me, I'd take the 2 stroke over the 4. They are lighter, both in weight and rotating mass, simpler to work on, easier to start and yes, cc for cc more powerful. A 125 2T can produce as much power as a 250 4 and is lighter. Lots of tuning advances in 2 stroke motorcycles recently, like power valves that can be adjusted to change the torque/power delivery, and TPI/TBI induction that smooth out power delivery. 2 strokes smell better too.

    The market is just too small for these as 75% of sledders are trail riders, and at 10k Canadian tax in, they are priced outta the market, at 4k they'd sell like hotcakes. At that price range u can buy a helluva nice used sled with power and/or a snow bike that can be used 12mths of the year with both configurations. I'd love to see these take off, but the reality is they just won't.once the fad of something new wears off, it will die just like the snow hawk did. Its too bad cause it's a cool product, but that's just the fact of it. There may be some hope if they can find a way to keep innovating with new versions with more capability and definitely more power, but it's a stretch to say they'll be the new big thing that will overtake snowbikes(which are a niche market as it is) and still be here in 10years. Love to buy a used one in 5yrs for 2500 bucks tho!

    i've own sleds and snowbike, i can definitely confirm that a snowbike doesn't need the same amount of power than a sled, but... even if my snowbike get me places i never thought could be possible, I still put a 500cc bigbore in it, just because!!
    Looking at the engine, it would probably weight 10-15lbs more to have a single cylinder 450cc, with more torque. I get that it's not meant to go fast, but the snappynest of having more torque and more track spin would probably give it the whoommf needed to make more technical move. I might be proven wrong, but nothing is ever too much power....
    Si vous avez des démos dans la région de Québec, j'aimerais bien essayé ça!!!

    If only it had the Cat 400 in there. 20hp probably ok for very small people. Tiny gas tank... you're not going far. Despite all the gripes I wish I could try one. But I can't believe the power is anywhere near what I would need. I hear what they are saying "not a mountain sled" and "just the right amount" but I weigh over 260... no chance going uphill in snow with 20hp.

      You making a lot of assumptions. Just like i did. And I was wrong on all of them. Im 6'1, 250lbs and 20HP was MORE than enough to pull me up hills. Its not like a mountain sled where you blast straight up a big hill and hold it pinned. Even with more power, it still wouldnt do that because of your body positioning. Youd just wheelie over backward. But, you can side hill it like nothing else and work any hill with a little finesse. The gas tank is big enough for almost a full afternoon of riding. Which is MORE than enough.

    Looks like a fun machine to play around on. I would agree. Off trail exploring would suit this machine. You waste a lot of time finding a route the sled will fit. Although that is part of the fun. I do think it would be strange with your feet so close together.
