- I love almost everything about fishing southwest Florida except the distance you have to travel. But boy oh boy, once you get there, the fishing is like nothing else!
On this late December date, I joined John Sweeney, Doc, James, Ryan and Brendan on Captain Tanner's (of the Reel Deal Fishing Company charter business) 34' Freeman for some American Red Snapper fishing. We ventured out over 100 miles and the fishing was spectacular. One of the best charter experiences I've ever had and I highly recommend!

Looked like an awesome trip, Cap. That boat is beautiful! Oh, and your spinning reels have the handle on the wrong side... 😄
Hahaha
Great one John. Sweeney is a trip that battery comeback almost cost me a pair of draws. Doc looks like he's doing well. Merry Christmas to the John's.
@@josephdoran1399 merry Christmas!
@@jiggingjerks Merry Christmas to you and your family
Looks like I missed a trip for the ages ☹️. You guys killed it, John. Great vid!!!
Nice Job getting that AJ up Halk, good trip 👍
I wanna go back already... That offshore gulf fishery is really something special
Are you down for the whole winter?
@@johnsweeney1400 I wish, headed back North after Christmas
Its fishing paradise down here for sure! Glad you all had a great outing!
Another great vid John, thanks for sharing!!
That looked like so much fun. Great trip. Happy Holidays John.
@@kkatzburg belated Happy Hanukkah Kirk!!!
Nice trip John!
I have learned so much from u guys....
Nice, glad you got into some snapper. The 20 plus pounders will fool you for amberjack.
Love the fishing destination videos to get through the winter. Any chance of a review video on the Minn Kota Quest after using it for a season?
It was flawless. Don't have any plans but will probably do a dedicated video in Spring
Looked like a nice trip John. Not a fan of traveling those distances to fish. Last time I fished in FL it was also off of Marco. I have a good friend that lives on the island. We had to travel 25 mi to fish and it was not a great trip. Anway, Happy Holidays to you and your family! 🌲🌲👍👍
Same to you Steve! Agree, it's a long run!
John - What size Slammer are you using with your noodle rod?
@@schultzie27 2500
Which would you recommend the Slammer or the Tsunami Evict? Seems to be about the same weight
@@schultzie27 the slammer is smoother but definitely requires a bit of service. I'm on Penn's guide program so a Slammer costs me about the same as an Evict. I'd go Evict and save 100 bucks in your shoes
Sweeney milking the fish as usual
Ha!!!
Its painful to watch these guys holding their rods all weird under the wrong arm
I reel righty and put my rod under my left arm. I think guys that switch their reel hands between left and right depending on conventional vs spinner struggle more with that
