What a great job, John. Those are some nice fluke. You never disappoint your customers (as I can attest). Very kind of you to plug Roger, he is an awesome guy. I had the pleasure of fishing with him on my boat as well. Real pro and very skilled at fluking and is also an excellent chef!
Damn John, It looked like you almost broke poor Steve's wrist with that high five grizzly hand of yours. You noticed how he backed off on the second fist pump you gave him afterwards. You scared the hell out of him... LOL Great Video brother
Great video, for some reason I never really put 2&2 together but the fluke do hit differently. I know it when I feel the right bite but never thought about it consciously. I tend to set the hook even when interference fish are biting. Going to have to try to resist that urge from now on after watching this. As far as the 6 inch grubs go, I want to keep using them, especially while ocean fishing but my experience is that the tails get chopped off within minutes of dropping down. All of you TH-cam guys have a lot of success so I’m not knocking it. I’ve been using sea robins and chub mackerel strips to try and save some money on Gulp! The chub mackerel really worked out well on my last trip. Bought some of those blades from Roger about two months ago and should probably try them more often. Ended up losing a couple of them and figured I’d save the rest for a Block Island or Montauk trip. Thanks to you and everyone else posting these videos, it’s the only thing keeping me going during a 60 hour work week until I can make it back out on the water!
Our fishing trip ended before it started. Blew a hub on the Thruway and bent the axle spindle. Had to limp home 85 miles on three tires. Looks like the trailer will be down for 2 weeks waiting on a new axle.....😣
It's really awesome in shallower water. Been practicing in the deeper stuff but too many small interference fish hooked with the smaller presentation. I'm sure it would work if you can get passed them
Nice job, why does it take so long for freshwater techniques to catch on in salt water ? I use to fish with spinners years ago , too many blues, and seaweed. I put 3.5” fat cow strips on after tails are bitten off. May I recommend BKK Harpax jig heads, they have a line tie on the bottom for adding spinners, or stingers. Way to go H !
Awesome trip for your client! I'm coming down tomorrow with the Shamrock 26'er. My tractor is in the shop, so I'm SOL for haying. Do you have any suggestions for spots out east? Depths? I launch out of Southold or Mattituck. Thanks.
Hey John! Great video. I am always looking to go on a charter boat (none of my friends fish) if you wind up short for a trip or have no charter for a given day. Give me a shout. I'm on Face book. Thanks, Stephen Cross
Went out today 7 am east of Gardiners and was greeted by 5 … yes 5…. large draggers scrubbing the bottom back and forth. Infuriating. Something must have caught their attention.
Haha so great!! I'll send you more spinner blades soon 🥰
Roger, any interest in booking a charter with John next year with me?! :D
Awesome video John. Had a great time on this trip; thanks again for taking me out!
Glad you and Roger are linked up, you are two of the best of the best Fluke fishermen in the game...

Excellent John
Great job, what tacckle are you using and what brand and size bait caster reels. Thanks
@@SoenkeBrandt I was primarily using a Jigging World Nexus with a Quantum Energy
@@jiggingjerks Thank you

I'd give the eastern tip of Gardiners a shot. Try 60 feet
@@jiggingjerks THX!
Evict? What was the baitcaster you were using?
Quantum Energy.
Nice!
Do you have a link for the spinners
cookingandfishing.com/products/dirty-jersey-spinner-blade
Nice job . Is the orange rod one of yours?
No, it's a Nexus
Do you use the 8 inch grubs to cut down on interference fish?
@@robertwestrom6878 never. I just don’t get a lot of of fluke with them. I have tried.
If you don't have a trolling motor how can you tell if you jig swimming the right way with the current?
You mean if you’re not sure which way the current is moving? I guess you can slow troll with the rig down and see if it gets your line vertical
Yea. When you say our rigs are swimming backwards. How do you know that?
@@Vikings24DJ if your rigs are ahead of the drift, the tension on your line has them moving tail first so it looks like they are swimming backwards
What water temp do you prefer for fluke?
I think somewhere in the mid to high 60s is ideal
Thanks

Yup but that's why there's fish in that area. They are dragging for shrimp and squid. Gotta fish the Rocky stuff they can't get to
