As a NL player, your best friend for upgrading the box set is finding someone with a 3D printer and grabbing a bunch of files with different skull and winged heads. For Nostraman Chainblades use the CSM Chainswords, Libre Demonica do some great Chainglaives and any CSM Chainaxes work for Headsman's Axes. To spice up the standard models, grab some 1mm jewelry chain and body parts and skulls to adorn the blank space on the models
I distinctly remember a BL short story dealing with the Raven Guard integrateing pieces of other legions to keep their numbers up where Corax had a Night Lord officer on his command staff. I always wanted to know that guy's story. Best part of that story though was the RG using an Imperial Fist ship as bait for ambushes. After the battle the Fist captain was like "Man, this falling back thing is kind of fun. Don't tell dad".
For my night Lords 9th company I hand painted a squad the traditional tactical squad marking and on top of it I painted a coffin with a white scythe in the middle. It was to try and merge the terrain culture and Nostramo culture together. Plus I gave them a lot of different marking in different areas. It was meant to show they are trying to adopt the new culture. I also paint on the should company number and the claw 1 so mind is 9th company (crimson son) 1st claw
I'm starting Night Lords with this box. You kinda read my mind with all of what you said! I also picked up some third party bits.. including some beaky helmets with flayed skin over top.
I went onto Shapeways and found some really neat heads. They have a bunch on there with all different marks of helmets in the Night Lords theme. I got the variety pack. I also went onto Pop goes the Monkey and bought the "Rotosword carmine" for some two handed chainswords. For some larger size bodies I also got a few sets from Tortuga Minis of the Mk2 to Mk5 running sets. I think that's it! But lots on Shapeways, Pop Goes the Monkey, and Helforged miniatures has some nice stuff also.
Also for those how want to get chain cleavers. You can make your own. For example for my MKIII I cut the thunder hammer and the chainsaw into different bits and glued the base and head together
Solid video and a great job. For the preator with the sword, if you want to go with a headsman axe, the master of executions from the CSM line has a great axe, along with some other bits that can be used to spike up your nightlords
Been following the suggestions for the VIII and I'm rounding the 75% done mark for the AoD box. Very happy with how the legion is turning out. Thanks for the videos
I think the night haunt range would be good. Those long thin swords are really sinister looking and all those flappy cloaks could be used as flayed skin bits. Also maybe the chaos raptors for bits on jump pack assault marines?
I intend to buy 40k raptors for HH, but I'm gonna take the heads for the regular troops. Also, for converting the terminators I've been grabbing as many chaos knight vultures as I can, effectively gonna give all the termies carrion familiars.
Is there a potential error in the book when it comes to allies with the Night Lords? I noticed that if your primary force is Death Guard, then NL are Sworn Brothers, but the reverse is only Fellow Warriors. As far as I can tell, this is the only case where one side is Sworn while the other isn't.
Only thing I'd say about the transfer sheet is that nightlords are very much all over the place with design and symbols, so really I guess that's the aim with the sheet 😂 just my two cents
As someone who has put together the new S2D box, I'm just wondering what I'd need to do since the models in that box are all Easy to Build. Never tried fitting that kind with the normal models.
Dark Fury jump packs or old school raptor jump packs. Probably best to find 3rd party ones in those styles. The MK4 from the sanguinary guard might work also.
Try to get old Warhammer Zombie bits they work pretty to terror up your squads. Also, raptor chainswords (I hate saying this because I have yet to buy them) look just like the chainblades the terminator have ( with minor filing)
I am guessing you mean Legion Reconnaissance Squad? Or do you specifically mean one that has exchanged their power armour for Recon armour? Because the starting loudout is the same as every other marine ... but you have the option to change them into pretty much 40k Scouts.

Problem is that the axe on that model is for the wrong hand, just making it harder to use.
I’m playing loyalist nightlords in a group campaign I’m in because we needed one more loyalist to make it even
I like to use the Kroot Carnivore bits on my Night Lords, lots of skinning knives and hooks, meat on chains, etc

As someone with armour autism…. Anyone care if I used new Chaos Terminators instead of the 30K options? The size looks better IMO.

Filed down raptor jump packs? Could also get sanguinary guard jump packs since that's the normal mk VI jump pack.
