Idk if this list was made before S5E10, but Rick spending his entire life trying to avenge the deaths of his original family and failing is probably the saddest moment of the show. It was also the most heartwarming because his flashbacks also show that the most heartwarming moments of his life came from Morty.
Kinda sad that he spent so long to avenge his family. Losing his wife and kid (probably was never explained) made him go on a endless journey of revenge, never able to get over the deaths and never being able to find another like Beth's mother because of his path of anger and revenge. Killing thousands, millions perhaps even billions of Rick's to get his revenge but ultimately it'd not enough
So I mustve missed a tiny bit curcisll detail in that ep but why couldn't Rick instead teleporting straight for revenge on the rocks kust teleport to a reality where he gets to keep his wife or is that not possible? But either way isn't there always a reality for everything?
@@leephillips4402 It always end up being Jerry fault. If Jerry had a little more brain cells, he won't be frustrating Beth and she won't be tired of him and they wouldn't have had a divorce and all the whole adventure with that weird baby world won't have happened and there would be no need to clone Beth . Everything is always Jerry fault. He getting Beth pregnant is his fault and we can trace anything back to him.
The vat of acid..... over Ricks attempt at suicide? They musta been too scared to risk talking about something that deep I guess, gotta make that easy Ad friendly YT money.
Honestly the Planetina and Vat of Acid girl hit me hardest, seeing Morty happy after all the adventures and stuff he went through just to lose it all on seconds just doesn't sit right with me, I really wanted to see happy endings with both the girls
The reset button scene is one of those scenes I will never forget the first time I saw it It starts off fun, and then it's romantic, then wholesome, then tragic, then courageous, then you have a real moment of relief... I think I even cried, and the end with tears already in my eyes, Jerry F's everything up, and not only does Morty panic, but in his panic, he falls on his back pocket locking the game's progress, and gets stuck in a save-state loop where he just gets pepper sprayed over and over. I was already tearing up, and out of nowhere, possibly the funniest sequence I've ever seen. I am pretty sure I have never laughed so hard in my entire life. I remember watching that for the first time as clearly as I remember where I was on 9/11. It's my favorite scene of anything ever I think
I never understood why these episodes of a cartoon, break my heart so regularly and why I am actually relating to Rick. Seriously. WTF?! This show HURTS quite often.
I wouldn't say Morty's speech to summer about life is sad. The final sentence of "come watch TV" shows us that yes the universe doesn't care and nothing really matters in the bigger picture so let's just enjoy life, enjoy the moment and spend it with the ones we love. What is the point of a pointless life...the pointlessness, that's the point. Season 1 episode 8 is my go to cure for tackling mine or other people's feelings of pointlessness.
For me the saddest moment was when Rick and Morty got exploded and the time when Rick used electricity on himself because his mom and morty and Summer dad said that Rick can no longer have his inventions in the garage
Saddest is season 5 episode 3. Morty growing up knowing what's the difference in infatuation, lust and other things. He grew up not doing "break the cicrle, morty rise above, focus on science. He loved planetina but she can't they have different insights of life and he knew that he doesn't do anything on his own. Every adventure is just to keep rick and the family together.
Auto Erotic Assimilation. Saddest moment in R&M hands down. Rick try’s to kill himself and is only saved by passing out drunk. And nobody once comes in to check on him. Sorry WatchMojo, you missed #1.
The fact that Unity and Rick's suicide attempt didn't even make the list just tells you what garbage these lists are 😂 legitimately one of the saddest scenes in a TV show that I can think of, it just hits different.
Agreed that the breakup should have been ranked a bit higher. It was rather bold of the show runners to have Morty be the one who breaks someone's heart rather than the other way around as we would expect. For Morty, breaking Plantina's heart was the only way he could get away from a path was already leaving him in tears. Only Jon Snow was the bigger heartbreaker than Morty and that was by ending a relationship that became taboo when he accepted the truth of his origins. Ultimately, he ended up saving the family he always loved by an action that ended any possibility of rekindling that relationship which he knew would have benefited no one.
Honestly, Beth comforting Morty after his breakup with Planetina is the best thing she’s done as a mother She could’ve been like Rick and said “I told you so” but didn’t. She is better than Rick in that regard
Everyone wants to hear they are destined for great things But nobody wants to hear they're destined for awful things That's why I don't believe in fate, or destiny Is just a cheap line of thinking to make people feel better about themselves when they have nothing else to believe
Whilst this is true, no one is guaranteed anything (except you know the THING), you can exert some degree of control over your reality (or what may seem like control to us but you don't need to question that). It starts with your thoughts which in a way do become your tangible reality so there is a non-zero possibility that you do have some control.
@@КристиянКостадинов-з6л why? What if there isn’t any divine or uninterpretable reason/purpose of our conscious experience. How would that be worse than knowing there is a hell or heaven, where the standards of others determines the nature of ur eternal reward or punishment ?
The only moment that made me cry was Unity. That is the saddest moment at the end of the episode. Even that small creature being vaporised was sad, then with Rick almost killing himself made me break down. The fact that this wasn't number one is an outrage. Mortys relationship reset was sad, but nothing compared to that final moment.
Here’s an insight, why did Rick wipe and store his own memory of randomizing Beth? He could have still known it was randomized and just stores the memory. But he wanted to punish himself. So than when he looked at it later, which he knew he would do at some point, and he knew he would want to know the truth as well, he punished himself with the let down reveal. It was self punishment.

The Rick/Unity break-up is easily #1 for me. To have that ranked below the likes of the death of Hoovy is hilarious. I can only assume it was completely forgotten about which leads me to believe that this list was not created by a Rick and Morty fan.

Can't believe you all missed rich and famous Jerry running to Beth's house in a drug fueled bottom out, to find his one true love. I cried like a baby.
I’ve always hated how Beth keeps high roading Rick about #10 when it was her who was unhappy in her life, Rick gave her a opinion, she couldn’t step up, she pawned the decision off on Rick, and than gets mad about it. Meanwhile, Space Beth completely abandons her family and no one says anything!
Seriously i couldnt grasp how that made rick a bad father. She was stuck in a world where she hated hersslf but couldnt leave due to responsibilites. Her only options was to suppress her hate for hersslf for her kids or to leave and go on the journey she needed to. That way she can self reflect and become the person she would love that could take on those responsibilities. Theres no real way to answer this without hurting someone. So what rick did was found an answer to look left and right at the same time.
Im scared, just today i was re-watching seasons 3 and 4 and thought "man, morty's relationship resetting is one of the saddest things that happened in this show" and then searched the saddest moments and it wasn't mentioned, and now this, today. Shivers man
This is the all time worst list ever, this video should be the saddest rick&morty moment. have you even see rick and morty? Unity and Tony's death should be top 3 no questions asked!
I JUST finished watching the planetina episode with my parents and sister and I SOBBED a little bit when planetina was destroying the earth, cried during morty's speech and reaction to his' mother's disapproval of their relationship and then full on SOBBED when Morty broke up with her
A few of these scenes hit home especially well because of the fantastic soundtrack choices, like when R&M bury their other selves or Rick goes to prison.
In the end of the relationship reset episode, rick revealed that there was no reset at all, just countless morties being wasted.. And somehow people remember what happened (I'm still not sure of that one)
