@@josephm448 yea I understand that completely. Look at how much he paid for that lot and what he actually got. Maybe $50 worth of mini’s? Don’t get me wrong, I love the concept of the rip card! Just for the odds vs what you actually receive is off IMO.
I think this is probably the most painful video I have seen from Jabs. At least it serves as proof to others out there that they should keep them sealed as odds are very high you are going to get zonked if you open them up.
I have to say that these rip cards have way to much of a premium for what you typically get from it. In a lot of ways they are a let down. The could have at least made everyone of the minis that come out of these numbered.
Wow those rip cards are so unique but extremely interesting. Thank you Jabs for everything I’m learning so much from your videos. Stay safe and GOD BLESS
Thank You I deeply appreciate the response back I’m surprised to get a response back because I know how busy you are. Thank You sincerely and God Bless
My feelings about rip cards are very mixed. I've never pulled one (and, frankly, would just as soon NOT pull one; I'd rather my hits be other things lol), so don't have to decide what to do with it. Much like with any other unopened product, there's much more value in the potential than the reality of what's inside. But like any other unopened product, the nagging "what if" compels the rip even when fiscal logic dictates otherwise. Glad I've not had to make that decision. I do think Topps made a mistake by not increasing the odds of more desirable hits; the rip card itself is considered a hit, so why be so stingy with the desirability of what is contained within? Those common parallels aren't really lighting a fire under anyone's ass. A 50/50 split between the common parallel and the other types of possible hits would be a much more compelling product. As it is, it seems like you have to rip a lot of cards to hit something interesting. A fine ratio for retail-or even hobby boxes-but not for finding something worthwhile in your hit. That said, watching other people rip their rip cards is very entertaining, so great video all the way around, lol. And I gotta admit those stained glass cards are incredible. I might have to keep my eye on ebay for a few to slip into my collection. And as a Phillies fan (sigh), I was all about that auto.
Someone on Twitter asked around about ripping into his Mike Trout 1/1 rip card. The audacity of the question aside, what are you hoping to get out of it? A second 1/1 Mike Trout?
Moral of the story... Dont rip it! Haha. Great video though. It was cool to watch someone rip a bunch of them and reaffirm what I've always believed. Ripping them usually doesn't pay off.
Carl heads over to discover that a trio of sirens, including Phillies baseball player John Kruk, are living in the house. Carl is excited to see Kruk, remembering fondly the time he hit Kruk in the head with a D-cell battery at Shea Stadium in 1989, noting that he spent three nights in jail but it was "totally worth it to see you just drop to your knees in anguish."
These always make me nervous....luckily the 3 I have had were ok but, I can definitely see how they become damaged. Then again I have the touch of a Blacksmith!
Heartbreaking that only one was an auto. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT EVER BUY THEM OFF EBAY!! You can see the basic design inside under a strong light!!
I've managed to pull 1 rip card in 10 years across many different years of Ginter. Ripped it to find a McCutchen mini SSP. Blah. So far in 2022 ALONE I've managed to pull 3 rips cards (and got one hot box) out of 6 A&G hobby boxes. I'm currently sitting on a Kershaw /99, Griffey Jr /25, and a triple rip box loader of Lindor /88. To rip or not to rip? Has Topps upped the output of these? Advice welcome.
No, still really rare to get anything good. Ripped a box topper one and got two regular mini but did get an aaron judge stained glass. And the other two I ripped got regular cards. And got a j rod Rip card which I didn't rip.
@@chasejackson7248 Nice pull on the Judge 😎 Curiosity got the best of me on the box loader rip. Two identical Carlton Fisk (I think) minis - Topps has a bad sense of humor. And the stained glass was a Jackie Robinson. So I did something I've neve doner before. I sent it in to PSA. Well, I don't know what kind of games they're playing over there but this thing was flawless...... came back a 9. I've done some internet digging and there are whispers about PSA playing a sort of "numbers game" with when it comes to certain top tier players, and perhaps even more so, some of the more valuable are cards that are submitted. I'm not here to pass judgement but there was one other flawless card that I sent in with. Somehow, it too, received only a 9. I had about 6-8 different dealers and guys who regularly submit cards lay eyes on this thing before sending it in to make sure I wasn't wasting time or money. And they all said the same thing - this card was worthy of a 10 and were shocked when it came back. Of course, when it comes to a certain QB, a lot of what I read about PSA started making sense. I'll use Beckett next time. If there is a next time. *Sorry to go off topic and rant like that.
man... I have 3 2018 Rip cars and i want to rip them so bad... , A DeGrom /50, a Kris Bryant /75, and an Ohtani /75 but this video is giving me major 2nd thoughts.
The first game I ever went to was in 1987, White Sox and Red Sox at Fenway, it was Old Timers day, and Ted Williams got one at-bat in that game... at least I can always say I saw Ted Williams play.
Man for a 170 a box these are really a product that Topps is ripping people off and this is most likely due to the fact of the extremely high costs of producing the cards such as the rip cards and the stained glass. I love the look of all the cards but man one auto per box at the most.
This is absolutely the worst idea Topps ever had. Ripping a card with potential value for a mystery card. Instead of ripping a card to get an autograph they should just autograph the rip card
Fun product, but Topps needs to put better odds into this crap with how rare these rip cards are. Very disappointing how many regular mini’s were pulled
While Rip cards are awesome, watching this is very painful, maybe in the future they could implement a peelable back similar to the way Pokemon is doing with their special Dito cards, they could even have the back of the card under the peeled part still look like the regular back of the card but indented where the Mini card was at. And to those that say then they cant be called Rip Cards, Why not? You would be ripping a peelable part off the card.
I think by not ripping them they would be worth alot of money in 10 to 20 years down the road people would give alot to take a chance on hitting something big out of them just my opinion
Maybe a dumb question, but could someone in theory use an x-ray to see what’s inside before they decide to rip it, then stick it on ebay if it isn’t any good? Feel like these could be searched (not necessarily by xray)
I think ripping them makes no sense. If you already have a stud player its good value....and if its a bad player then there is still value in "the unknown" of getting a better player/rookie by ripping

not for nothing but not everything is about what it's worth to some people. You could give me a parallel out of this with a met logo on it and I would be thrilled.
I’m I the only one that finds it incredible annoying that as hard as it is to pull a rip card to just get a regular mini?
The mini cards are high number short prints, but yeah, pretty much a regular mini card.
@@josephm448 yea I understand that completely. Look at how much he paid for that lot and what he actually got. Maybe $50 worth of mini’s? Don’t get me wrong, I love the concept of the rip card! Just for the odds vs what you actually receive is off IMO.
I completely agree
I paused the video near the end, and pushed the back button repeatedly and watched you put $1000 of cards back together.
Tomorrow you should rip up money to see if there are larger bills hidden inside!
Lame as f dude

Brutal - they paid $1000 for these gimmicks? A John Kruk auto sells for less than $10. The other stuff is worthless. Who is buying this garbage?
brutal.
Topps really doubled down on the gambling fixation in sports cards. Now you can gamble on opening packs twice in one pack
I have to say that these rip cards have way to much of a premium for what you typically get from it. In a lot of ways they are a let down. The could have at least made everyone of the minis that come out of these numbered.
"PSA 0 on that one" 🤣😂🤣

Topps could print stats on the back of the inner part of the front card, after you rip the back off you'd have two full cards.

That Judge card was epic. U shouldn't have ripped that one.

Miggy with the "weird expression on his face"... yea he stoned 😂
You can use a light to see through them…. You can see the stained glass and autos. No one is selling the good ones once they see them
Wow that John Kruk was insane!
That judge card would have been worth a fortune unripped.
Rip cards are risky. I ripped a triple rip from 2020. It was worth it. I wouldn’t do it again though.
These always make me nervous....luckily the 3 I have had were ok but, I can definitely see how they become damaged. Then again I have the touch of a Blacksmith!
Stained glass are SSP to 25 even though they aren’t numbered. That is my Johnny Bench listed.
Heartbreaking that only one was an auto. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT EVER BUY THEM OFF EBAY!! You can see the basic design inside under a strong light!!
You might be able to see the mini stained glass in a triple but not in the others.
Hey, John Kruk was on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Can’t say that about Vladdy!
I ripped a 2020 sandy kofax box topper a few days ago. Got 3 stained glass. Feel fortunate after watching this
Kruk was a beast back in the day. When . I used to watch BB.
Ripping the Brett broke my heart. I’m a huge Royals fan but an even bigger Brett fan.
Epic one of a kind video. Thanks Jabs

Definitely not going to rip the Ohtani.
Try using an exacto knife instead of a sheet rock cutter. Exacto knife is perfect.
I've never had any luck with Allen & Ginter Rip cards. This was hard to watch. Most of the Rip cards are worth more unripped
Dont forget about Kruks cameo on aqua teen hunger force.Great episode
John kruk had one ball from what I remember as a kid 12:28
LOVE these! The stained glass minis are cool! 🇺🇸😊
Only in trading cards can you pay top dollar for trash that you can rip apart to get more……trash.
Would never buy rip cards off ebay. Metal and Wood cards would definitely be a different weight.

interesting idea but didn't seem to pan out. curiousity killed the cat.
Nice pulls, Allen & Ginter is a nice release without the weirdo cards
Fun product, but Topps needs to put better odds into this crap with how rare these rip cards are. Very disappointing how many regular mini’s were pulled
I personally do not rip them. They're almost always worth more sold as is then what you're likely to get inside of them.
That looks risky… I hope I can one day rip one of those
My son and I hate these cards. Wish they advertised better on the side of the boxes. Maybe some like them but we find them hot garbage

From what I’ve seen, a majority of these have crap inside.
I personally never rip any cards of this style, its never worth it.
How the heck did that double have nothing in it?? Such a shame
These are pure fun
Warren Spahn had 383 complete games🤠
Obviously the smart play is to not rip them, but I don’t blame anyone for doing it
Great video Mr Erik! An excellent idea
man such a rough rip.. literally
the Yount/Yeli card killed me i should have turned away
Alot of the rip cards I've seen rip goes down in value when ripped
i think we can forget them now
After watching this......never gonna rip if I pull one🥺🥺🥺
I would never rip a rip card, unless i was able somehow to see through it and figure out it was for sure worth it.
You can. Just need a strong light. While you wont see the player (At least that's what I hear) You WILL see if its an auto, metal, etc.

I dont think an xray will help....maybe a very bright light 🤷
Great idea but poor reward. It wouldn’t be hard to fix.
Befriend someone at a forensics lab and see if they can see the card inside.
They should put a rip card inside of a rip card
RIPCEPTION
Stained glass is cool, but after watching that if I pull a rip card I’ll be selling it.
...went to the lcs and caught the Byron Buxton red auto #/10.. it was Suzuki/99... just fyi
It takes a couple beers to be ok with this. It seems to help. ...team keep the 10s
Rips like this one are why, "in my opinion", you are a LEGEND!!
Jez I heard rip card I thought, rest in peace, like players that have passed, what does this RIP Imean?
Do not buy online you can easily spit the card with Razer blade an glue right back together
I think ripping them makes no sense. If you already have a stud player its good value....and if its a bad player then there is still value in "the unknown" of getting a better player/rookie by ripping
If these were set on fire, it would have returned only slightly less value.
Just a question when are the next group of topps hobby boxes coming out
