    The Lord of the Rings Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) for Microsoft Windows and OS X set in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, taking place during the time period of The Lord of the Rings. Originally developed by Turbine, the game launched in North America, Australia, Japan, and Europe in April 2007 as The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Players could create characters of four races and seven classes and adventure throughout the region of Eriador. In November 2008, Mines of Moria expansion was released, adding the region of Moria and two new playable classes. It was followed by the Siege of Mirkwood in December 2009. In 2010 the game underwent a shift from its original subscription-based payment model to being free-to-play.
    The game saw continued development, alternating between paid expansions and free updates, which added new content in the regions of Isengard, Rohan and Gondor. In late 2016 it was announced that the publishing of the game would transfer from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to Daybreak Game Company, with development being taken over by Standing Stone Games, made up of former Turbine staff. The game development continued and in 2017 the Mordor expansion was released, bringing the main storyline to a close. The game then shifted to portraying the aftermath the downfall of Sauron as well telling the "Tales of Yore" which chronologically precede the main story, with Minas Morgul expansion released in 2019 and the Fate of Gundabad expansion released in 2021.

    ive been playing lotro off and on for 11 years now, and it will always have a special place in my heart for just being the most chill, pleasant experience in any mmo ive ever had. i hate the "grind to the max level" shit, i want to take my time and not be rushed in any way, and this game 100% lets you do that without naking you feel like youre missing the good parts of the game or whatever. like i said ive played for a long time and my highest character is on level 83, so :D bc this game has provided me well over 1500 hours of chill fun, im also willing to pay for things here and there. before the wonderful expanding of the free to play model, i would buy new regions every few years, but now i still have so much to explore!

    F2P is prefectry possible to paly all the game.
    Just learn the deeds from starter zones to get a few extra point wenever you need with a new charecter then deleet.
    Buy a House (storega there is sharede)
    -to send gold to main charecter just go to Vault keeper and buy bags of coins, then put in house storage.
    Join a kinship (guild) you get a free teleport from there to go to main zones
    Your personal hous also gives you a free teleport there and to orher main zones.
    Folow Main story (Epic book) that as no expancions requirements and take all the way to max lvl passing in zones that you may not have Unloked.
    For extra lvls :
    -missions
    -Skirmish
    -scaling isntances
    Lotro store tips to buy: (sometimes on sales)
    -iventory slots
    -Auction house slots
    -universal toolkit (crafting)
    -Expancions or quest packs
    Everything is already free till lvl 100
    By then you can just unlock 1 or 2 expancions or push lvl i some isntances and missions to get to max lvl or to the last expancions content and go from there.
    Good luck

      That is why pvmp(player vs monster player) in the ettenmoores exists 😃 you jump in front of the creep(monster player) to challenge them to a 1v1. And if that creep accepts the challenge that monster player will jump in front of you as well. Then the 1v1 begins. And if anyone interrupts then that person is to be k.o.s.

Cant think of another mmo with a class similar to lotros Warden, but even the classes that do have similarities to thoae found in other mmos are quite different here. Like the minstel...in terms of its role and place withing the game its not unlike the priest-type healers found in many games...but at the same time it doesnt play or feel anything like them

    Greetings!
    Nice video - you did lotro a lot of justice.
    I´m in the game for nearly 16 years now. It was my first MMO and will probably be my last. There will never be a game where I´ll sink as much time as lotro. As you said, it is a classical mmo- tank, heal, dps and support. If you like that, than you´re on the right track to have fun.
    For Tolkein fans it is the game to play. The worldbuilding is excellent. You can stroll trough Middle-earth and go to all the places you know from the books. (even Tom Bombadil is in it - looking at you Mr. Jackson)
    However, it also has some drawbacks. You can call the graphics engine "dated", if you want to be kind. Personally I think for its age the landscapes are still very beautiful. The NPCs on the other hand look atrocious.
    The most irksome problem is the server perfomance. The "lags" are sometimes really horrible. SSG promised, that they´ll switch to new servers, but i´ll not believe that until it finally happens.
    If you want to do instances it is recommendable to join a kinship. The server population is mostly very welcoming to new players. Quick sidenote. Nearly nobody uses the group finder tool. Looking for fellowships is done over the chat-channel.
    If you like Tolkein and old style MMOs you´ll probably like Lotro, too.
    Join us in Middle-earth, the Free People are counting on you! ;-)

      It’s almost criminal that the game never gets any sort of big coverage from TH-camrs. For the quality of it you would think it should be on par with WOW in terms of popularity.

    • @christianbecker7212
      @christianbecker7212 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VagrantVideos There are some. One of the best imo is Ghyngyn (hope I spelled it right). LOTRO has been overshadowed by WoW from the get go. I think if both games had rolled out at the same time, it could have had way more people. So it was always seen as a WoW clone. But for us Tolkien efficionados WoW never stood a chance. We have seen a small rise in players in wake of the god awful Tolkein parody that was RoP. But we lost almost all of them again. I for my part will be there until the servers shut down.

      @christianbecker7212 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are referring to the "amazon" on the horizon, don´t count on it beeing an upgrade. If they follow through on their statements, that "accuracy to Tolkeins lore isn´t as important as fun gamplay" (I´m paraphrasing here), then the game will be just another generic mmo where amazon slapps the lable LOTR in it. And I predict (and also hope) it´ll be a similar desaster as their Tolkein parody.

You could at least argue that its "pay2skip the grind" and even though there are no big benefits to it besides u wont be able to get best in slot items by paying real money. By loot boxes u probalby have the chance to get a pre bis item wich is - at the current patch - also useless bc there are other ways to optain good items with a fun and engaging way to di so due to the delving system. As a fan of the game who also is realistic about its limitations, I consider this to be a very fair review. "Play to Earn" is a very apt description of the model.
    I would point out that you can buy one month of VIP for $15, and then cancel and become a Premium tier member. Premium folks have more character slots, shared storage (I think) and auction house slots, as well as a couple of other benefits versus F2P accounts.
    Additionally - and this is the really important bit! - any characters you create and log in with during your VIP month will retain their expanded inventory slots (75 instead of 45) and Swift Travel access that F2P and Premium folks otherwise do not get.
    It is a huge QOL improvement for a fairly small amount of cash in the long run.

      Some would disagree which is why I presented both sides of the argument. I showed how much I earned in 40 hours and that was with casual play so I think most mmo veterans could see that the cash shop is very fair. Others will see that you can buy the stat tomes and view it as pay to win.

      You can scale the UI, on fact you can individually scale each ui element independently and move them wherever you want...it's been that way for at least 7 years, when I first played it, and possibly longer than that. The scaling sliders are in the UI section of the settings menu (exactly where you'd expect them so don't know how you missed that) and you can unlock the elements to reposition them with shift+#

    I quit LotR online and went to DDO(Dungeons and Dragons Online), easily the best decision of my life. DDO is smaller of a game, in terms of "Open" world. But DDO gives you limitless freedoms and you can play with your friends/family immediately. When me and my wife tried LotR we were years away from each other, I mean we were on the other sides of the world. With DDO's new lag fix coming out I will find myself spending at least another 500+ hours to 1k+ hours in DDO rather than going back to LotR online. I hope this makes sense to a lot of people, I hope you make a video of DDO after the lag fix. Awesome videos as always! I think LotR improved a lot over the years. I had a 100 ranger back in the day but idk, never liked a lot about the game. Just sharing my expereince of switching from LotR to DDO haha.

    I don't get this bad habit about saying the LOTRO store is a P2W. Something is P2W when it offers an unfair advantage over another player; no matters what item you check in the Store, they don't fit this definition. No, mixing the Store with MPvP mode is a pretty bad argument 'cos MPvP was created totally unbalanced since minute 0, "thanks" to people like Sapience (Developer in Turbine times). And no, SSG can't build it from scratch, 'cos the game engine has its limitations.
    So.... no, LOTRO isn't a P2W. You don't need what the store offers to play and enjoy the game.

      @@VagrantVideos That's a more accurate term. However, and probably you noticed it, whenever a new player asks about the Gift of Valar in the chat, veterans always reply this: "If you're a newbie, don't use it; you won't learn to play the class, you'll miss a lot of content and you'll get bored and frustrated. The Gift is just for alt characters from players who already have experience and making extra chars in the same server, or another one."

  • @electricfootballhero1349
    @electricfootballhero1349 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Absolutely not. LOTRO is among the very worst WoW clones on the market. It started out decent back in 2007, but when Warner Brothers bought the rights and the game went free-to-play, all the WoW rejects jumped on board and ran off the vast majority of the founders and Tolkien fans. Since then, the server hardware has deteriorated to the point where they cannot even handle a handful of simultaneous logins, and frequent, repetitive 45-second lag spikes dominate most players' gaming experience. Leveling up is ridiculously easy, while endgame content is ridiculously difficult. Player crafting and in game economy have been non-existent and irrelevant for years, and the skeleton crew who maintain and "develop" the game (Standing Stone Games) are uniformly terrible at their jobs, and don't even try to mask their contempt for LOTRO players. The big controversy right now is the addition of bearded females, which has pitted progressives against bigots in a debate that is rapidly escalating to the tipping point in which both sides are pushing political agendas while attempting to gaslight others (and perhaps themselves, also) into accepting their talking points are not political. The content reached Mordor years ago, and that's when they should have put this terribad game out of its misery. Watching paint dry is a more satisfying gaming experience.
