Moving across them logs nimble like a cat! Looking great brother, inspiring me to get back in shape myself.
That was fun exploring. Glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed you taking me along. Thanks.
Great video, l mix some dried cattail seed head in stink bait, the little fibers helps keep it on your hook or plastic worm better
Welcome back to the old school of fishing. Take it easy out there my friend. Omaha Nebraska support your channel.
Great Job again. And Congratulations on your second chance at a healthy lifestyle. Us catfishermen need you.
Heck yeah Steve, putting them legs into 4 wheel drive. Couldn't have done that 100 lbs. ago. I have just started my "New me" and down 24 lbs. Thank you for showing me it's never to late. Rock on sir.
congrats keep up the good work
I really like the bank videos. Not enough youtubers do them.
Hello from Oklahoma! Hey who's that skinny guy down there on the creek? Good job brother!👍👍 I've been surprised by some pretty big fish in places like that. Good luck! Thanks for all You do! God Bless!
I used to love fishing this Creek in my old hometown that after the son went down went from catching Creek chubs all day to going on the other side of the creek which was deep over our head I went from the shallow to deep like on a drop off and at dark till 3 hours in the morning you can fill those channel cats and carp just a nibbling on the bait or fingers wrapped around the line and when they run or pack it tighten around the finger it was fun times
Congrats !!!!
I usually take a weed wacker and a loppers down to my parents once a year to get a nice path to the river. I have to leave the last couple feet alone so tubers don't notice a nice path to their road though. We can drive a car down to about 30 yards from the river unless its high.
My friend and I use to do the creeks. We was about 7 to 12 doing all the time. We would have a campfire and u can take those little catfish down to the water and cut its head off gut it and wash it off. The mix u up some mud then put it all around the fish and toss it in the coals till u notice the mud is drie. Get it out of the fire and just tap on the mud and it all just comes off with the skin. U do need to take salt with u
Finally got to go fishing a bit with a buddy of mine...... Fished three hours and just got one bite, which my buddy grabbed my rod to set the hook. He didn't know I had a circle hook on my leader and jerked the rod..... Fish held onto the bait all the way to the bank before just letting go of the bait.... I couldn't get upset because he didn't know...... But the excitement of finally getting a bit on my new catfish rig was fun..... Still have plenty of time to put some in the freezer...
Good to see you out there. Stay safe out there and have a blessed day. You and your family have a great Happy Independence Day. Aloha from Kansas
Glad to see your in so much better shape Steve. That brought back some old memories of fishing the creeks near our house 60 years ago. We mostly caught small yellow bellies but the barbs were the same. As always, thanks for the trip.
Hey Steve they are good bait. And good to eat. Just don't see them much now days. Im 59 ill be 60 in October grew up walking rolling fork river. Still do and yes look for things in log jams. Great video thanks for bringing back some great memories
My Favorite Catfisherman! Great video Mr. Douglas and thank you taking us along for the adventure!! I really enjoyed watching this video and I'm glad to see you're doing well sir! Take care friend & God Bless! With all my love & respect, - Cecil "Mr.Slingnbaits"
Thanks for watching Cecil
100 pounds! Congratulations Steve - I bet you feel so much better!
Glad to see you conquer the river with ease this time Steve!! Wjen i was a kid many mnay years ago, we always used mussels for bait below Kentucky and Barkley dam and they were the best and yes they are illegal now.
We had a button factory close to where I live and we used to find big piles of clam shells with button holes drilled out of them. Of course that factory has long sensed closed but it is still a memory
Steve we lived at the creek when we were kids. Cousins from city would visit and that was the first thing they wanted to do. Good place for adventures.
Getting back to the basics is some of the best fishing, peaceful, and it clears all the fog from you mind.
Looking good! Live all the camera work.
I love using news old blue Tika catfish baitrunner open face reels for that kind of creeke fishing and when they take off just lift up and turn the handle
Awesome video, we all need to go back to our roots once in awhile. I live about hour north of Evansville in small town called Winslow. Patoka River runs right thru town. Looks a lot like the creek you just fished. I spent many happy times fishing it.
I mudlark every time I fish the creek or river, I make glass fish sculpture with all the broken glass I find.
Here(VA) we can use Freshwater Muscles for bait IF they're native to water we're fishing, but we can't transport them to another water way.
Wow buddy every video you look and sound better and better! thank you for sharing your life tips with us. Your the man!
Awesome Steve glad to see u out fishing
You look awesome a hell of a job glad you are back on the creek. Looking good and healthy
You are right about getting to smaller fish, when the big ones start losing the fun factor it's time to return to your roots and enjoy just being out whether you catch anything or not
Congrats on the weight loss Steve! Keep it up and stay safe out there!
Those 8-10" channel catfish have zapped me more times than I can recall. Those spines are sharp and strong.
Really enjoyed this post. My most fond memories are of times I spent with my father fishing in small stream, farm ponds and grist mill ponds and catching small fish. We used a cane pole he would cut himself and bait with worms I had dug up. You are looking good. keep up the good work.
Looking great, I know you feel better when every step isn’t a chore. Great video, stay healthy.
Dam u got your balance back. That's what I want to get to. Way to go Steve u the man. I am so happy for u. I've been watching you for years. U need tonraffle.off a few fishing trips with you! Hell just to get to sit down with you and get to hear all the fish stories u have. Thanks for all u do.
Good to see this video. It is good to see you doing good.
Think you might take a battery powdered lawn trimmer to cut a small path....
Love the camera shots. 2 of my passions in one: fishing and photography
Well growing up in South Mississippi, we would cut our feet as kids all the time on mussels. Those blues sure like them too
This was a nice fun video. I'm happy to see you doing so well.
Congratulations man!! I’ve learned soooo much about catfishing from your videos !
Glad you like them!
Great news on that weight loss. Im doin it myself and find getting around the creek way easier then just 20 lbs ago!! Great vid and go get em
Happy 4th. Be safe. So proud of you. Definitely an inspiration.
Billy goat mode lol love it. Grew up with creek fishing and still do it occasionally.
I live in south Alabama and we use them and they are good for channel cats
Regarding “Sometimes the bigger fish don’t mean that much.”
I downsized my rods and started focusing more on medium sized fish. Big ones are still fun but a 12 pounder on 8 pound line from a kayak is a blast.
Great video. The fresh water muscles are cool. Congrats on the weight loss!
Lookin good Steve. Keep on fishing
Congratulations Steve
THANKS , would love to fish with you , but your a long ways fron TEXAS .
Good stuff Steve, happy 4th!
You proved you dont have to catch a 40 lb fish to have fun. I'm 65 and do the beach combing thing too, it's fun. So proud of you on the weight loss, you look fantastic. Happy 4rh to you and yours, God Bless.
i was 72 on that day and still go out in places like that too .
I seen you take that first stick down.. My first thought was spiderweb stick but I quickly realized I was wrong lol..
100lbs thats impressive. Would love to hear more about that journey. I've cut out soda and fast food and trying sugar bits it's dang hard.
i cut out sugar and bread and potatoes, and ate nothing but real food that comes from nature, like broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage etc.and only ate about 1000-1200 cal a day. It took about 10 months to lose 100 lbs. good luck and thanks for stopping by to leave a comment
Awesome job on the weight loss Mr Steve. I was really worried about you on the last trip down to the crick. Well done.
I visit my roots as well every so often because I feel that it keeps me humble. It should definitely be in your in brains tackle box for us whiskered trophy chasers.
There's no pressure either
Congrats Steve on the weight loss, I'm sure you feel like a new man. I'm sure "Mamma" approves.
I mainly do bank fishing for catfish and I always do some beach combing, fun to find things beside garbage left behind by idiots. I find soft lures, spoons and sometimes a nice crank bait or two.
Take care and enjoy the moment.
Awesome video Steve. I always look forward to your uploads and the knowledge and insights and down to earth attitude you bring to your videos.
Thank you, you also got myself starting on a weight loss journey and it was needed! Just making some changes helps a lot!
You look good Steve and you look a lot happier, glad to see it.
Congratulations on all that you have done.
Great video reminds me of my childhood days fishing the tributaries along the Ohio river in Kentucky, Ohio and almost heaven West Virginia 🤠
Looking great Mr.Douglas!! Can’t wait to see more from you!
Looking great Steve!!!
You can climb like Spider-Man now. Congratulations on the new you. I hope that Itchweed doesn’t cause and Spidertingling.
Thanks Steve for a refreshing video...I started fishing back in the day in spots similar to the one you showed us in this video...God bless
Hats off to you Mr.Douglas,
Steve, I am right in the middle of my weight loss regimen. I've lost 47 lbs. since last November. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I feel much better. Just wanted to congratulate you. God Bless and tight lines and good health to all us fishermen.
congrats on your weight loss
Looks like you had fun
Here in indiana muscles are illegal to use but where I grew up in FL it's very much legal. Can reach down almost anywhere pull up a handful, ever in FL hit the econ or st johns River give em a try shellcracker, catfish love em down there
Yeah those ol stinging nettles will eat you up! And if you're where I think you're at, you might oughta look out for cottonmouths and copperheads, cause they are some around that part of KY, if that's part of the rolling fork then there is! But theys some pretty good flatheads in that little ol river and decent channels too! Anyways yeah you did a lot better this time than last didn't ya? After dropping that much weight everything gets easier don't it?! Glad you're doing alright bud! Next time you go down there you oughta have a couple pieces of livebait, like a couple of medium sized bluegills or green sunfish would be better, I'd just about guarantee you'd get into a flathead or maybe even a purty good channel cat!
Brother you have inspired my 53year old ass to lose weight, just from this video. I saw the last creek video and some of the health videos between. But this one got my attention. Thanks Steve.
If I didn't know better I'd swear that was Wills Creek in Ohio. Thanks for taking me with you.
God bless you and yours and thanks for all that you do for me and unskilled fisherwoman
I see you made you some Rod Holders 🤣 🎋 Steve trips like this are good for the soul, thank you for sharing it with us!
Holy Smokes!! Didn't recognize you fish slayer!! Amazing transformation.
Hey, thanks!
Congrats on the weight loss God bless you Steve
thank you
Steve Douglas like your fishing videos one day you should come to Louisiana and fish and try some Cajun food like gumbo étouffée and crawfish during the spring time
Hello Steve. I've lost that hunnerd a couple of times now. I know how good it feels to do that. The trick is keeping it off. I'm happy for you. I noticed before that you were on this journey. Now gonna watch and enjoy your video. Thank you Sir.
Congrats brother!!!!
Looking good Steve I'm on my weight lost journey
good luck on your journey
Hey man you are looking fabulous congratulations on the weight loss
Hey brother you got it going on now , look like you feal better and any one that can loose weight like that needs to be complemented , Great job and have a wonderful day.
Look at you, as agile as a mountain ram. That's how we all started out as kids running up and down those Creek banks.
Good job Steve.
I really like what you said about catching big fish all the time. I think if it’s not a challenge then why even do it.
Where I’m from we don’t have blue cats and it’s a real struggle to catch flatheads consistently.
I am thankful for everyone that I catch but when I finally get a big one.
The adrenaline rush is like no other.
You should come up to Missouri and fish with me on the Mississippi
Looks just like salt River, place I fished growing up
Congratulations on the weight loss. It looks good on you 👍🎣.
