Trying to resist picking it up immediately, but I can't see myself holding off too long. Having it flip from blue to red depending on the map is a big bonus tbh, and it really looks super flexible in terms of the roles it can fill. Plus it really is a gorgeous cockpit, imo.
One quick note about the radar symbology. Redkite is planning on doing a radar video. He posted on his discord that he came down with the flu. I did not want to step on toes so I tried not to say too much about the radar as he is more technically-versed than I am and he will probably cover the subject better than me. I am not sure when he is planning on posting it but I am sure it will answer any symbology questions.
@@Sandboxcode I just feel it is more fair. Not his fault he came down with the flu and he had access to it earlier than I did so I am sure he understands it better. I try to be somewhat responsible what I post and didn't want to rush a guide out when I am still learning the thing.

I got to say your channel really convinced me into going cold war i've been playing DCS since 2014 first with the FC3 pack, KA-50 and then F/A-18 later but i always liked the simplicity of systems in cold war planes a lot more and their more exciting flying characteristics so i really hope i can get this Mirage it looks awesome.

Im so doped, finally you can simulate a semi-realistic fight between Turkish F5E and Hellenic M-F1 above Cyprus. Omg this new module is deffinetly my first buy when i can finally get over the basic financial issues in the future (car, apartment etc) and i could afford a secondary need like a HOTAS-monster PC. Until that future comes, i will enjoy it via TH-cam :)
I love the video but I also want to point out that the thumbnail is excellent. The layering of the text behind the plane but in front of the clouds is what the French call “magnifique”

Can't wait for RAZBAM's MiG-23MLA... and I'm stoked for the MiG-25RBT mod project, but it has been quite silent around it lately. Oh, almost forgot, OctopusG apparenlty is working on a Su-22 :) Then throw in ED's MiG-29A and that other unspecified one they have in the pipeline as per an Interview that Cap did a while ago... we need that stuff and eventually it's coming! :)
@@CakePrincessCelestia At high altitude Mirage F.1 is going to be one of the fastest, but comparable to F-14A and Mirage 2000. F-15E is limited to Mach=1.85 due to CFT's additional drag.
@@bazejs8084 Where did you get that number from? First time I hear it... and IIRC I was able to push the F-15C with 3 non-conformal bags to around there in DCS and I totally expect CFTs to be way less draggy. In the end, AFAIK the F-15's speed is FTIT limited which means it could go faster than 2.5 if you're ready to roast your engines... other planes like the MiG-25 (officially 2.82, went to 3.2ish IIRC with the engines fried) or the F-111 (official number once was "2.0+" back in the early 90s, has gone 3.0 - check Jeff Guinn, again, engines had to go into maintenance afterwards - and nowadays I read 2.5 basically everywhere) did that as well and it's not just rumours. Back to the 15E, I could clearly imagine it would take longer to accelerate to its top speed though and in most cases you wouldn't fly that out anyways even in a clean jet (probably after dumping stuff).

There was an awesome freeware F1 for FS9 that also worked in FSX/P3D that I loved because of how detailed it was. I will for sure be getting this as my next plane, most because Polychop has been radio silent on the OH-58D(I) for so long now, I am starting to wonder if it's turning into vaporware.
Hi Enigma. I've just subbed to your channel. I have enjoyed you content so far, your style and approach is very appealling; particularly the manageable length of the videos. I'm very new to DCS and have yet to brave the scary world of online servers, but recently bought the Mig 19 and i'm trying to get to grips with it and your focus on cold war has been brilliant to see how it should be used. Keep up the good work :)
Love its design. Love it period. Kinda still wish we get the Astrac variant at some later point... but hey so far we got cold war variants and its nice. Load of skins... and finally the "flechette" is around the corner. Also finally love that we got something that can face Mig 21 with matching power. I like F5 but it was always bit under. With F4E coming later this year, Mig29A (by ED) Mig 23MLA, F8E, A7E, A6E, Su17 and Su22 ... cold war will have lot of content and will trully be interesting. Question, is it plan to give it Magic or AIM9 in cold war servers? And Magic 1 or Magic 2? :)

I also noticed when you were zoomed in when you fired your fox 1 the heading tape wasn't moving. Was it disabled? Or was it in range mode because you were locked on with a missile?
I am very impressed that you noticed that. I believe the way it works is that the heading tape turns into a range indicator in certain modes. You can see this on Page 73 of the manual where it has two labels for that orange tape.

Thanks for the vid - glad to see that you're excited for it to come to DCS as well! While I understand the decision to make the F1 RedFor on Syria, I think BluFor needs it more, UNLESS you increase the number of F-14 slots available to BluFor on Syria and make some of them available without the ground attack prequalification. The F-5 is just too stripped down to face off alone against BOTH Mig-21 and Mirage F1, particularly when pilot skill is equal.
The nearly black paint scheme in the cockpit, like the M2000, is unfortunately quite hard on the eyes for me and it's the main reason my M2000 never leaves the hanger. I think I will be holding off opening my wallet until the release of the Phantom at the end of year, fingers crossed. But don't get me wrong, the F-1 is quite a package, just got my heart set on another beauty!
Not gonna lie, I used to call DCS the "Dark Cockpit Simulator" for that very reason until I jumped into VR. I can see stuff inside the cockpit so much better since... first I thought it was due to the OLEDs in my CV1 and Quest, but it's good with the Reverb G2 that has backlit LCD as well.

i feel ya when you say new planes got no soul. Every fbw plane is so sterilze as you tell a computer what to steer instead of steering yourself making every plane so soulless. Just for the pure joy of flying i really like the bf109 as it has so much character to it like the spitfire
There's not a lot but there is some and it is interesting to see what kept going and what did not. The pylon selectors in particular feel very M2K to me.
Hey Enigma got a question for you. Will the m2000c be available in the cold war server since it did enter service in 1978 and I noticed the model we have does not carry the long range missiles?
How's the plan setting this plane up for the cold war server? You said it switches Red and Blue depending on map, but how many slots are going to be available? Will it be like the Fulcrum or Tomcat, you have to unlock and only a very limited number of slots or more like the A-10 and Viggen where plently of slots are available?
I am not sure if I will buy this one too afraid its too similar to mirage 2000 which I already own. I am not sure yet what my next plane will be maybe the phantom f4 or f14 altough I would love a fidelity model of an f15
@@kontiuka The overall look of texturing looks without latest PBR techniques. The entire plane looks like DCS prior to 2.5 engine updates - good but not like todays F18 for example. If you want to start see it at 1:05 how the cockpit blends with the nose - really generic lighting and low rez textures. The cockpit also has texturing not to a "DCS latest modules standard" looking "technically to the size" but generic and lifeless. Some textures are at least dubious - like the ones under the Radar Hood and the bumpy black paint the cockpit walls are covered with looks dull and artificial. I know that is difficult to make but again... I don't think any PBR was used there. I know people want to imagine there is more than meets the eye but usually it doesn't. What you see is what you get. - I forgot to mention the elephant in the room... the radar screen :D :D
Question, as you mentioned in Caucasus it'll be Blue side but in Syria it'll be red, what faction will they belong to? IN Caucasus will it be France, or Spain, or both? For Red in Syria would it be Iran or Iraq or which?

I'd say the Mirage F-1 is a mid cold war interceptor rather than a late one. It's a 1970s jet roughly equivalant to the MiG-23, AJ-37 Viggen, early F-14A, F-5E and a few years later than the F-4E. Early cold war would be 1950s with the F-86 and late would be 1980s with the Mirage 2000C. It will be facinating to compare it with the F-4E when that comes out though.
@@Akm72 The Mig-21Bis is a 3rd generation model. It was introduced in 1972. Saying all Mig-21s are the same is like saying all F-18s are the same. And honestly, trying to correct me on the difference between early mid or late cold war seems pretty pointlessly semantic.
@@Akm72 My guess, the F4 is going to be more of a missile truck, better radar, more weapons, better ground attacker, but a worse dogfighter. F4 is a big boy and was apparently capable but a real handful to handle, it's going to be allot of fun. The F4 and the Mig-23 are my most anticipated.
One thing that stands out to me is the shadows/lighting. I’m an F-14 main and the ONE thing I don’t like about the F-14 is the cockpit lighting. The lights in the cockpit itself are great, but the shadows are so funky and wrong. It’ll be dusk, and the cockpit is bright, as if the sun is shining into it. Quite disappointing. I see myself flying the F1 at dusk/dawn quite often!

How are the kinematics? My understanding is this was one of the only Iraqi jets to give the F-14's a hard time.
It can go quite fast but takes time to build speed.
Once released, it will literally be the fastest full DCS module - until RAZBAM will drop the Mudhen.

When you were talking about the loadout weight imbalance, does this plane not feature any aileron trim?
It does have trim which can help compensate for it. With that said, you will have to manage that mid fight and trim it out which may be difficult.
Any chance of allowing the A-4E mod on the cold war server?

I am not sure if I will buy this one too afraid its too similar to mirage 2000 which I already own. I am not sure yet what my next plane will be maybe the phantom f4 or f14 altough I would love a fidelity model of an f15

@@kontiuka The overall look of texturing looks without latest PBR techniques. The entire plane looks like DCS prior to 2.5 engine updates - good but not like todays F18 for example. If you want to start see it at 1:05 how the cockpit blends with the nose - really generic lighting and low rez textures. The cockpit also has texturing not to a "DCS latest modules standard" looking "technically to the size" but generic and lifeless. Some textures are at least dubious - like the ones under the Radar Hood and the bumpy black paint the cockpit walls are covered with looks dull and artificial. I know that is difficult to make but again... I don't think any PBR was used there.
I know people want to imagine there is more than meets the eye but usually it doesn't. What you see is what you get.

Question, as you mentioned in Caucasus it'll be Blue side but in Syria it'll be red, what faction will they belong to? IN Caucasus will it be France, or Spain, or both? For Red in Syria would it be Iran or Iraq or which?
The factions are red and blue. We style red as the USSR in the Caucasus mission and the Arab States in Syria.

No, Aerges confirmed that was a typo in the manual.
Probably not since 530D means Doppler - it requires Doppler radar for guidance.

The heading tape switches between a range indicator and a heading tool depending on which mode you are in.
This feels like such a great foil for the Mig-21. BlueFor finally gets a early cold war interceptor! I'm nabbing this baby day one.
I'd say the Mirage F-1 is a mid cold war interceptor rather than a late one. It's a 1970s jet roughly equivalant to the MiG-23, AJ-37 Viggen, early F-14A, F-5E and a few years later than the F-4E. Early cold war would be 1950s with the F-86 and late would be 1980s with the Mirage 2000C. It will be facinating to compare it with the F-4E when that comes out though.
@@Akm72 The Mig-21Bis is a 3rd generation model. It was introduced in 1972. Saying all Mig-21s are the same is like saying all F-18s are the same.
And honestly, trying to correct me on the difference between early mid or late cold war seems pretty pointlessly semantic.
@@Akm72 My guess, the F4 is going to be more of a missile truck, better radar, more weapons, better ground attacker, but a worse dogfighter. F4 is a big boy and was apparently capable but a real handful to handle, it's going to be allot of fun. The F4 and the Mig-23 are my most anticipated.

The engine literally cuts out when you pull negative G’s
One thing that stands out to me is the shadows/lighting.
I’m an F-14 main and the ONE thing I don’t like about the F-14 is the cockpit lighting. The lights in the cockpit itself are great, but the shadows are so funky and wrong. It’ll be dusk, and the cockpit is bright, as if the sun is shining into it. Quite disappointing. I see myself flying the F1 at dusk/dawn quite often!
First day buy. Looking forward to seeing more sorties or practice
