The whole fight since the beginning was so epic. I'm 33 years old and I've been a castlevania fan since I was 8 years old. My first CV game was Belmont's Revenge for game boy and ioved it. Though I was so much hyped, I had my doubts, but this, this got far beyond all my expectations. Fuck, just remembering that that scene en Alucard's room broke my heart. Cried a lot like a baby and my wife at my side just in silence. Not to mention the infamous morning star, those Leon Belmont's references, that slogra and gaibon team up fight, the bloody tears epic arranged theme, the gears going awry, Curse of darkness plot and more. Thanks for reviving this series netflix, Adi Shankar, Warren Ellis. Thanks for saving it
It's absurd how well-executed this netflixvania series has been so far. Castlevania is my favorite game series and CV3 is my favorite out of them all. If you told me years ago that it would get a high-profile animated adaption that sticks the landing and more, I would not have believed it for a second.
Same with me. I remember being more afraid than excited when Netflix announced they we're gonna make an adaptation due to all the bad results se had seen. But at this point I can't do more that stand up and fucking say THANKS to all they people behind this project. Can't wait for season 3. My only BIG ASS question is: áre they gonna introduce Death into the plot?
When his first wife died, he made himself immortal and hated God. Second wife dies, he regrets his immortality and hates humanity. Never remarries, just has sucubi and maids roam his castle.
I was a bit confused as to how he was both Vlad Tepes and Matthias Cronqvist. I'm pretty sure Bloodlines goes by the Bram Stoker canon, but Lament of Innocence had him as a separate character. Does he rename himself Vlad at some point, or is the Lament of Innocence backstory ignored, or what? I never dug too deep into this with the lore
It’s funny how Dracula was willing to burn the whole world down because of grief for someone he loved dearly, and in the same breath he’s willing stop his act of Gennoacide for someone he still loves deep down. Everything he’s done from start to finish for most part, in a very twisted sort of way, has been out of love. So relatable and sad at the same time.
You said it mate! He masterfully also does some strange, monstery breaking noise. I especially enjoy when he explains to his 2 humans why he chose them.
kerrin mcdonnell he was already dead and had become a monster even worse than before since he lost his wife, love saved him from destroying everything and himself in the process.
Both Dracula and Alucard. Dracula died with a physical stake through his heart, and Alucard took a metaphorical stake through his own heart, as it was by HIS hands that he committed patricide. I feel sorry for both of them.
I love how the whole time this battle has been going on it been nothing but, bright red colors to show Dracula Rage and anger all coming out at once. But the second he enters in his own son room with him in it, the colors fade away to a soft cool blue color. It sorta shows in those few seconds his rage had calm down when he realized he was killing his own son, the child the love of his life gave birth to for him.
Hot damn, Dracula has got a pretty hard life, a life that wouldn't end until 1999... Both of his two wives died tragically, and that's how he got so mad... It really wasn't the Belmont clan who killed Dracula, it was love itself.
That’s probably why he went so beserk when Lisa died, he was frustrated that he lost another love when maybe, deep down he wanted to live a quiet century with his wife and son, and be somewhat like a mortal man and not the monster that humanity makes him out to be.
There's these great subtle moments where you actually see Dracula hesitating. one of the most prominent is after he smashes alucard to the ground holds him up neck is exposed he could have just cut his throat right there with his hand instead he goes down and punches. There is definitely a conflict happening inside of Dracula from murder machine and loving father
Most people might be asking "How did the previous Belmonts defeat Dracula if he's this strong while suicidal?" They *didn't.* If the timeline of the games is to be (loosely) followed, Trevor is the first Belmont to have fought Dracula. All the others fought vampires and monsters, yes, but not Dracula. Likely because he seemed to keep to himself and only killed intruders (admittedly plenty, going by the number of impaled corpses shown at the very start of the show), so they didn't see much of a need to go up against him. Even Leon, who (if this Dracula is Cronqvist) was there when Dracula came to be, *didn't* actually fight him. He fought his top lackey, Death. All the Belmonts until Trevor either didn't *fight* Dracula, or didn't _win_ against him.
Exactly the Belmont's don't even know what is Dracula appearance, Trevor though Alucard was Dracula in their first meeting. No human can kill this Monster, those 3 will be dead in a second if Dracula wanted.
@@Thenchresleth and even in canon lore dracula was a beast, even death couldnt stop him,and it took reincarnation to end the cycyle of the tepes and belmont cycle
@@unkindled6410 Those are (mostly) all canon. It's just that by the timeline set by (Fuck) Konami, Dracula's Curse (Castlevania 3, the one the show is mostly an adaptation of (adding some elements from the next game in the timeline, Curse of Darkness)) is the first time any Belmont fought Dracula, and all the others are set after that one. Except Lament of Innocence, but in that you just don't fight Dracula. Like, at all. So basically, the games' timeline jumped around the place like the Zelda one does, except there were no alternate timeline on top of it. Just a miserable little pile of shitheads in charge of running it into the ground. Again, fucKonami.
@@unkindled6410 The first two Castlevania games take place two hundred years after Trevor's time, you are playing as Simon Belmont. You 'defeat' Dracula, but you definitely do not kill him, because he returns every hundred years. Castlevania III is the main game that the anime was based on, where Trevor meets Sypha, Alucard (and Grant, mumble mumble), and takes on Death and Dracula. Most of the main timeline Castlevania games have a Belmont stopping but not truly defeating Dracula. It was not until Richter Belmont that Dracula was truly slain, and the dark priest Shaft revived him in Curse of Night.
I really love this take on Dracula. He's insanely powerful, but very human. I didn't expect to empathize with this version so much. "I'am killing my boy" is one of the most believable and tragic lines delivered in voice acting.
You gotta give it a wonder. Dracula has wondered the world for Lisa, tried to be human for her. After his loss - he went for Revenge. It never occurred him to walk in the same halls where Alucard and Lisa went by, nor even after his loss, go and see the room that they created for their gift. That line still hits hard that he speaks.
It all could have gone different if Dracula asked him before this started what he would have after what they did to his wife. “Me Father. You’d still have me.”
Mathias Cronqvist aka Vlad Tepeş aka Dracula, regains the humanity which he discarded nearly 5 centuries ago for a brief moment, and he truly realizes the monster he has become
1:15 love that attention to detail where he was about to claw him but instead closed his fist showing us before the spoiler that he never wanted to kill his son. If he really wanted to he could of ended it there.
I am both happy and filled with sadness...sadness for the pain this family has endured, and happiness that a father's love for his wife and son is stronger than even the darkest grief and wrath.
I love how, the lighting changes from a dark and moody red, to the light and pale blue when the pain and sadness of his actions against his beloved son come crashing down on him. Beautiful.
I actually cried at the very end when alucard is sitting on his dad's chair and started crying while seeing his past memories Why must the boi suffer like this
When you think about it Dracula hadn't drunk any blood in over a year yet he was still stomping all of them. It's galling that the only reason they won was that he let them kill him
"I'm killing my boy," is hands down one of the best written, best acted lines of dialog in anything I've ever seen. This show went so fkn' hard. So, SO fkn' hard.
It's a nice touch that several times Dracula's nails are shown to have been capable of instantly killing Alucard but instead he continues to punch him. Even enraged he holds back against his son.
I really like how the music cuts out about halfway through, because by that point you realize this is more than the hero fitting the big bad evil guy but also a father and son having a real fight.
This whole fight could NOT have been any better, it was epic, it was very sad, and it was very RIGHT. Ultamitely, Dracula really is despite all his power... a victom of humanity.
Man... This is awesome watch this fight-then you get to this last part... And it's like taking a sledgehammer to a glass cabinet. Well done, folks made this entire scene/scenario. And that tone that Vlad has at the end when he stops... "My Boy. I'm-I'm killing my boy."

@black mantanah its meier link from vampire hunter d that has has a badass cape that is not only use for combat and defense it also functions as a glider
I have to say this is without a doubt my favorite iteration of Dracula...the fact that he realizes he is killing his boy when they end up in alucards room shows Dracula still has some humanity...unlike the games where he has no more fks to give and just wants to wipeout humanity, even when alucard shows up he’s like “nope gonna kill you too”

Honestly though when Dracula's skeleton started to walk toward alcard after stabbing him, he probably would've hugged his son. If Trevor didn't chop off his head off that is.
That's probably what makes it even more heartbreaking. It was like Dracula wanted to hug his son one last time and that was robbed from him. What's even worse is that Trevor and Sypha weren't there to see Dracula regain his sense. Trever and Sypha only saw Dracula as a monster but in those last moments where his skeleton reaches for Alucard it was like he finally realized "I just killed my father, the one who painted my room and made me these toys." The whole fight since the beginning was so epic.

I think he had only one life in this continuity since he blabs about his 'only' love
The Random Guy his first wife is the reason he became a vampire. And the reason that he started shit with his friend, Leon Belmont
Also loli nwitches
Zusk85 I recommend the castlevania timeline series by gamerthumbtv
It’s funny how Dracula was willing to burn the whole world down because of grief for someone he loved dearly, and in the same breath he’s willing stop his act of Gennoacide for someone he still loves deep down. Everything he’s done from start to finish for most part, in a very twisted sort of way, has been out of love. So relatable and sad at the same time.
Graham McTavish was the perfect voice for Dracula.
You said it mate! He masterfully also does some strange, monstery breaking noise. I especially enjoy when he explains to his 2 humans why he chose them.
In the end... It was love that killed him...
kerrin mcdonnell he was already dead and had become a monster even worse than before since he lost his wife, love saved him from destroying everything and himself in the process.
Both Dracula and Alucard. Dracula died with a physical stake through his heart, and Alucard took a metaphorical stake through his own heart, as it was by HIS hands that he committed patricide.
I feel sorry for both of them.
"Ah... sarcasm. 'For what profit is it to man if he gains the world, and loses his own soul'? Matthew 16:26 I believe."
@Eric, The Centrist & Nazi's Worst Nightmare What a terrible night to be a vampire, especially if you're a weakened Dracula, indeed.
@Eric, The Centrist & Nazi's Worst Nightmare what are you talking about dude?
For anyone from the animation team reading this: YOU'RE ALL FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE TALENTED. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Most people might be asking "How did the previous Belmonts defeat Dracula if he's this strong while suicidal?"
They *didn't.*
If the timeline of the games is to be (loosely) followed, Trevor is the first Belmont to have fought Dracula.
@@Thenchresleth and even in canon lore dracula was a beast, even death couldnt stop him,and it took reincarnation to end the cycyle of the tepes and belmont cycle
what about the games where we actually fight dracula? is it just gameplay and we werent supposed to fight him at all?

Fr tho, Dracula was actually my favorite character and honestly I was kind of rooting for him even tho he was trying to cause human extinction.
“Lisa, I’m tunneling our boy. The best gift you ever gave me, and I’m tunneling him.”
