Also demonstrates that deep down the Bishop didn’t truly believe that Lisa was a witch, but her work was a threat to the established power of the church. Calling her a witch was just a lie that the Bishop told himself to justify her murder, but the demon can see through that BS and call him out for it.
I love that the true horror of this scene isn’t a ‘there is no god’ kind of thing, but instead the even more terrifying ‘your god abandoned you for what you have done’
It's honestly funny that even the demons know that Lisa wasn't a witch, with Blue Fangs dedicating so much time to calling out the Bishop's bullshit and making him realize what a colossal fuck-up he did.
Blue Fangs went the extra mile here. First he closes the door when he comes in. As people have said, he was raised in hell, not a barn. Secondly, he kills the bishop's spirit before he kills his body. Just strips him of all his comforting lies. The bishop can't even die believing he's doing god's work. Just savage.

Never once did he stop. He is the cause of all the death and suffering that occurred during Dracula's invasion, and all of the suffering afterwards. The fact that I have 110% respect for the blue eyed demon after that one conversation is crazy. - Is respectful of God and his true followers - Does not lie once - Kills the true demon in their mist - Calmly educates the sinner - Me, realising that if the priest does reincarnate as a demon, the only thing he would be able to do is be absolutely terrified of himself and everything around him. All because of how the blue eyed demon broke him down emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually in less than 5 minutes. The pure dopamine hit from all this makes it my second favourite scene in all of castlevenia.
fun fact the priest's corpse is reanimated later on, and made (without possible choice on his part) to turn a river into holy water... while he was standing himself in said river, meaning the holy water he just created himself proceeded to burn him. Adding even more into the idea that the very very god he pretended to serve now wants him destroyed (thoug here its just that he knew how to make holy water and even reanimated could still do so, and that holy water destroys the unholy, including reanimated corpses)

In Christian tradition, it's not as if the demons can simply ignore God's power and presence. It's more so that they physically could not enter the churches. In my meager understanding of Catholic tradition more specifically, the cathedrals are blessed by the priests and sanctified/consecrated with Holy Water and being the House of God, devils cannot enter within, since they were banished from God's presence--and given the belief that God is Omnipresent, especially in his own sanctified churches, they could not enter the space. This is why the demon explicitly tells the priest that God isn't there, that it's an "empty box" and that they couldn't "be here without you." By perverting the doctrines of the God they professed to be serving, the priests desecrated (literally De-Consecrated = De-Sanctify = De-Sacred-ize) the churches' dedicated purposes, nullifying the demon-repellent presence of God.

Shoutout the voice actors of both Blue Fangs and the Bishop. It's hard to put into words just how much the voice acting made the scene EVEN BETTER than it already is.
No he's speaking quite literally about that Bishop. He burned Dracula's wife alive as a witch (He KNEW she wasn't, he's just a power hungry maniac and wanted to make an example of her) which sent Dracula into a rage and he unleashed the demons to wipe humanity out for what they'd done to his wife (The Church and it's followers for Murdering his wife, and everyone else for standing by and allowing their corruption).

I wonder if Blue Fangs was once a fallen priest himself. He is so certain about everything he explained, from Church etiquette, never denouncing the existence of God, and even a reference to a Judas Kiss. I had this epiphany after the Fly recalls his life as a Greek philosopher.
You actually find out later in the show that many of the Night Creatures were forged from the souls of people who had been persecuted and/or killed by the Church. Isaac, one of the forgemasters making them, speaks with one who was once a Greek philosopher in Athens at the time Christianity was taking over and tells the story of what happened to him.
There is something unsettling about Blue Eyes saying “But we love you”, as if the realization that evil revels in the bishop’s wickedness dawns on him.

I mean, I’d say nearly every accuser of witchcraft knew they were making it up. Witch hunts were used almost entirely to get rid of people who were different without having to validate the reason for their execution.
I haven’t seen anyone point this out but Blue Fangs’ canine like build is also accompanied by some canine mannerisms, like his hair bristling in response to anything that triggers aggression or anger, most notably seen in the fight between him and Trevor in the town square, which is also accompanied by his spike growing out when his hair bristles. Blue Fangs exhibits that show of aggression right after stating that the Bishop’s actions led to the Night Creatures being summoned by Dracula but before rhetorically asking if this is all the Bishop’s fault, almost punctuating the sentences. It would imply that Blue Fangs himself is pissed at the Bishop and that’s the moment when he stops suppressing it and actually starts to act on the impulses it triggers. Just an observation from me
Yeah. In a manner of speaking, The demons were dragged out of hell against their own will, due to the bishop's actions. One of the things that separated the demons and the angels in the first place was that the demons chose Free will, over God's will. So in essence, the Bishop's actions are forcing the demons to walk the earth until the death of mankind, and they are forced to carry it out, all against their will. Needless to say they're not really happy about the position they've been put in.
I mean Blue Fang’s biological similarities to dogs in our world being that close is no accident. Still glad someone mentioned it. Makes it all the more cooler that it ties into behaviours we see in our own world.

If I recall correctly, demons (at least in the bible) are formerly angels. They were created knowing full well what's right and wrong, unlike humans. So when they fell and became demons, they actively chose to do evil. So yeah, they would know why God hates someone.

Once his head gets ..."kissed" off, the shots of the window are a great detail. Jesus looks away, in disgust, in disappointment. I really adore the level of care and symbolism.

One interpretation of demons in Christian faith is as Angel's who saw humanity as unworthy of being gods favored children. In that context they are often as disgusted by man's evil as anyone, but reflect it and encourage it in order to prove their point.

I find that a little sad. That quiver in his voice could mean for a long time, the Bishop knew he was wrong - and refused to admit it, as well as change for the better. The thing about bad people is how in the end, they’ve misused their potential for good in favor of something far more sinister.
And that is precisely why we should never, EVER waste anything we have on any form of cruelty or negativity. It is nothing but a complete and absolute WASTE of precious time and energy for all of us. No man, woman, or child should never have to face this kind of cruel and pointless burden when we should all be using every single bit of our time that we have here on this Earth completely to the fullest and not look back under any circumstances because, we’re not going that way. Shockwave Demon Right on target. Of course, he learned the Bible to misuse it against humanity, but he definitely knows it. That is scary. You are facing against an ageless demon with your tools, and that demon knows exactly what your tools are inside and out before you even start to use them.
One little bitty detail I love about the scene where Trevor and Sypha defend the townsfolk: there still exist priests who are willing to protect people and because of their service, their faith is rewarded. The holy water made by the common priest wouldn't have been of any use if that priest's faith and desire to help innocent people wasn't genuine.

I only noticed on the second viewing how Bluefangs' face seems rather expressive, and he seems genuinely somewhat disgusted by the Bishop before taking glee in breaking him down and killing him.

Another subtle thing, just a master's touch in the middle of a legendary scene, is that the eyes of the Bishop reflects the light of the Blue Fangs Demon's eyes, showing that the Bishop is a demon as much as the demons themselves. All of this is a masterpiece.
@@RabiezDeWorgen It is, but it's still symbolic of the fact that the bishop is no better than the demons that let themselves into the church. It's a clever use of lighting and reflection to convey the scene.
Something else I noticed in the same vein. When he first opens his eyes before the door opens, his eyes seem to glow red like Dracula's do, possibly alluding to the fact that the demons being there is just as much the Bishop's fault as it is Dracula's.
I love the implication the demon makes by saying the church is an "empty box." It implies that God DID inhabit that church, but retracted His blessing due to the corruption of the priesthood. Simply chilling.

And yes, there was a deeper meaning there, the church of Greshit had become bloated and corrupted, while commoner priests were still carrying the blessing of god, which is why when the common priest blesses the water that the townspeople use to fight the demons it works and burns them. The bishop could have said every holy incantation from now until the second coming and it would have made no difference.

I get the feeling that while Blue Fangs is an enemy, he has respect for God and what he does. The Bishop's antics are a slander he's not willing to allow to continue, even if it helps his side out more. The only thing I'll disagree with Blue Fangs on is the subject of love. It isn't the love that is conditional, it's the forgiveness. Forgiving someone for something when they're gonna go right back to doing it again is just plain not gonna work. That, however, is independent from loving them. Some times, you just gotta let someone piss on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

I like this addition to the vampire lore, how the religious icons and relics can only protect one of true faith and not just any fanatic with a cross saying they’re religious when they’re not. It creates a lot more depth when someone who uses these items and has true faith can use them to ward off vampires
I gotta reread Salem's Lot. My memory is a little fuzzy, but there was a part where a priest who once had a crisis of faith was initially protected from a vampire but the vampire talked him into doubting himself, losing his protections...
What's scary is, this priest was a true believer of God. He believed that the killing of innocents was something God wanted, which would earn him a spot in heaven. I don't believe in God myself, but if what the Bible says is true, God loves all his children, even if they don't necessarily love him back. I truly think Jesus would weep if he knew that he died for people's sins, only for them to commit more sins in his name.

I love that while they still gave this demon a bit of a guttural, growly voice they also gave it an almost cultured, measured tone to its caidence as well. It really sells that this is a creature of unfathomable age that knows what it's talking about more than the delusional fool standing before it. Plus it gives just that extra touch of mocking contempt to its voice that's oh so delicious.

That demon is most likely a human tho. In the show, night creatures are created by taking damned souls out of hell and putting them in the bodies of the dead.

The voice-overs for pretty much every character in this show are amazing, but the Bishop's VA did a fantastic job of playing the arrogant and self-righteously sadistic ecclesiarch with too much power for his or the peasants' own good.
There’s something about the way he says “this is an empty box” is so fucking eerie. It’s as if his god watched all the abhorrent things done in his name out of that “box”. The demon doesn’t even have the heart to call it a poor excuse for a church. Just a box. Christ.. 10/10
The VERY sad thing is that many so-called "churches" are just that these days...empty boxes. People have shut God out and tried to make the Bible about them instead of about God.😢
It's more than just that. In the New Testament, Jesus mentions he is gonna demolish the temple in three days and build it anew. For many, this is a way of saying the new faith is not gonna require massive buildings but just Faith. In the show, Faith is shown to have actual effect, as Trevor asks a proper priest to bless the water to make it Holy. The demon through this dialogue alone shows that they understand more about Faith that the Bishop, and that he simply does not posess Faith in god, therefore, God is not there.
"Your life's work makes him puke." Damn, these have to be the most wise and truthful demons I have seen in the movies. Probably the scariest demons ever. Powerful dialogue.
I just love how the demon _deconstructs_ the bishop. Every talking point the bishop brings up the demon smacks down and he doesn't even need to say much. I just hits the spot just right for each excuse the bishop brings up. He isn't just mocking the priest but straight up trying to teach him one final lesson before brutalizing him. It's a case of "It takes someone evil to recognize evil in others."
What I love about the demon is that he doesn't do like other demons from other works and denies God's existence. He's fully aware that God exists and how He works and tells it all to a corrupt and hypocritical Bishop. Very well done.
What's interesting is that in some older texts it was believed that Satan and his followers were more than capable of quoting the scriptures so that they could distort god's word and make people stray from the path of righteousness. And yet here you really do get the impression that the demons didn't have to distort shit because the Bishop and those like him had already done so.

Revenge is satisfying to think about in this context. But when things get to the actual revenge, our brain finds many self-righteous reasons to hide inherit sadistic tendencies that are natural to all humans. You see revenge feels good, but where do you draw the line and say "Thats it, my revenge is done, we cool now", because that never happens. Sometimes people don't even need an actual harm done to them, or have an actual target of their "righteous rage" to satisfy their need to cause pain and misery onto those who "deserve it". Example in America of our days: If you are a man, white and christian - it already is enough to villainize you and condemn you for every wrong doing your possible ancestors did. So its okay to bully, deplatform and slander you, because in their eyes you are a villain that deserves all of that cause of your traits, and masses and media will be okay for it, because they all stand for "what is right". Ofcourse I exaggerate, and speak roughly, but there is truth to what I just wrote.
The color choice is superb. The firery red for the fanaticism of the bishop's beliefs, against bright blue. Blues are usually used for good guys. But here it is used as cold truth. And in this moment, the demon is doing good by sending a monster into hell.
My favourite detail is how the Bishop is completely bathed in red light, save for the two tiny specks of blue in his eyes, reflecting the demon's light. For the eyes are the windows to the soul - and for all he might deny it, he knows the demon speaks the truth.
Zombiewithabowtie I agree. It is wonderfully done. I like how in one shot you can see him holding his rosary 📿. His hand shaking. Then when the demon kills him the rosary falls to the floor. And then seeing the stained glass windows as he is killed makes it more horrifying because you can’t see what’s happening. But you have an idea.

So are all the things Blue Fangs says but this line in particular stuck with me. If we accept that Gods love is unconditional, then Priest failed his final test. Believing he was no longer worthy of being loved, no longer worthy of the Light of God. Which is of course, being in Hell.
Flyeyes later said that hell is not only populated by bad people but people that were push to an extreme by bad people, flyeyes itself was not a bad person himself, not a liar, not a killer but an schoolar forced to reveal his fellow schoolars whereabout and thus betray them making him a sinner. Thinking about it, the fact that Blue fang can talk mean he was probably a lower sinner persecuted by the church

This scene demonstrates what the Third Commandment, "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain", is actually about. It's not about saying "God" or "Jesus" as swear words, it's about using the name of God to justify your monstrous actions. Saying you do something in His name does not mean you do it in His will.

One of the best villain deaths of all time. Not only does the demon take the time to dismantle his entire belief system but it also takes enough time to let the horror of his upcoming trip straight to hell sink in. The facial expression animation and voice acting are dead on.
It's even more brilliant than that, because he didn't dismantle the belief system at all (he "believes too, and shudders" XD). He proved that the Bishop been living a lie by revealing the truth about the system to which he claimed.
I love how as he wraps up his argument he goes in for the kill. So the entire time, the priest is in debate and not afriad because he has conviction in his actions. Hes not afriad of his mortal life, right as hes about to die he realizes he was an agent of the Devil and is going to hell, so he fears death at the very end
I like how brightly the bishop’s blue eyes shine in this, showing he is basically one with blue fangs. He is lost, and has knowingly cast God from his side.
So often in things like this as the Bishop is killed his blood would splatter on the windows or a statue as if God was crying but here he simply looks on dispassionately. Love it! The whole show is a masterpiece.
The implications of the church, a place he believes demons cannot enter, being empty save for him when the town is under attack every night speaks volumes of the Bishop's character. He never served anyone but himself.
I always found him a selfish asshole(even more during this scene) and the fact that he said that they couldn't enter the house of God meant he knew demons couldn't enter a kept it all to himself not bothering to help civilians.
I like to think he was sheltering some people at night, like the ones he sent to kill the speakers, but was using the protection of the church as a tool of power, "go kill all the speakers or your not allowed back in tonight"

I know this show often gets criticized for its dialogue but as a Catholic and a fan of horror I just found this entire scene so brilliantly executed. At this point in the story we know the Bishop is more interested in power then he is in actually serving God or protecting the people. He assumed being ordained was enough for Gods protection and the demon flat out tells him it wasn’t. The Bishop admitted he was more concerned with taking advantage of the crisis for political power then he was actually helping anyone from the evil.

fun fact the priest's corpse is reanimated later on, and made (without possible choice on his part) to turn a river into holy water... while he was standing himself in said river, meaning the holy water he just created himself proceeded to burn him. Adding even more into the idea that the very very god he pretended to serve now wants him destroyed (thoug here its just that he knew how to make holy water and even reanimated could still do so, and that holy water destroys the unholy, including reanimated corpses)

In Christian tradition, it's not as if the demons can simply ignore God's power and presence. It's more so that they physically could not enter the churches.
In my meager understanding of Catholic tradition more specifically, the cathedrals are blessed by the priests and sanctified/consecrated with Holy Water and being the House of God, devils cannot enter within, since they were banished from God's presence--and given the belief that God is Omnipresent, especially in his own sanctified churches, they could not enter the space.
This is why the demon explicitly tells the priest that God isn't there, that it's an "empty box" and that they couldn't "be here without you."
By perverting the doctrines of the God they professed to be serving, the priests desecrated (literally De-Consecrated = De-Sanctify = De-Sacred-ize) the churches' dedicated purposes, nullifying the demon-repellent presence of God.

You actually find out later in the show that many of the Night Creatures were forged from the souls of people who had been persecuted and/or killed by the Church. Isaac, one of the forgemasters making them, speaks with one who was once a Greek philosopher in Athens at the time Christianity was taking over and tells the story of what happened to him.

Also a big fanged demon saying "let me kiss you" is pretty unnerving as well i might add.
I haven’t seen anyone point this out but Blue Fangs’ canine like build is also accompanied by some canine mannerisms, like his hair bristling in response to anything that triggers aggression or anger, most notably seen in the fight between him and Trevor in the town square, which is also accompanied by his spike growing out when his hair bristles. Blue Fangs exhibits that show of aggression right after stating that the Bishop’s actions led to the Night Creatures being summoned by Dracula but before rhetorically asking if this is all the Bishop’s fault, almost punctuating the sentences. It would imply that Blue Fangs himself is pissed at the Bishop and that’s the moment when he stops suppressing it and actually starts to act on the impulses it triggers.
Just an observation from me
Yeah. In a manner of speaking, The demons were dragged out of hell against their own will, due to the bishop's actions. One of the things that separated the demons and the angels in the first place was that the demons chose Free will, over God's will.
So in essence, the Bishop's actions are forcing the demons to walk the earth until the death of mankind, and they are forced to carry it out, all against their will. Needless to say they're not really happy about the position they've been put in.

If I recall correctly, demons (at least in the bible) are formerly angels. They were created knowing full well what's right and wrong, unlike humans. So when they fell and became demons, they actively chose to do evil. So yeah, they would know why God hates someone.

One interpretation of demons in Christian faith is as Angel's who saw humanity as unworthy of being gods favored children. In that context they are often as disgusted by man's evil as anyone, but reflect it and encourage it in order to prove their point.

One little bitty detail I love about the scene where Trevor and Sypha defend the townsfolk: there still exist priests who are willing to protect people and because of their service, their faith is rewarded. The holy water made by the common priest wouldn't have been of any use if that priest's faith and desire to help innocent people wasn't genuine.

Another subtle thing, just a master's touch in the middle of a legendary scene, is that the eyes of the Bishop reflects the light of the Blue Fangs Demon's eyes, showing that the Bishop is a demon as much as the demons themselves. All of this is a masterpiece.

Something else I noticed in the same vein. When he first opens his eyes before the door opens, his eyes seem to glow red like Dracula's do, possibly alluding to the fact that the demons being there is just as much the Bishop's fault as it is Dracula's.
I also love how later the Bishop shows up in Hector's lab as literally just another corpse on the pile.

I love the implication the demon makes by saying the church is an "empty box." It implies that God DID inhabit that church, but retracted His blessing due to the corruption of the priesthood. Simply chilling.

And yes, there was a deeper meaning there, the church of Greshit had become bloated and corrupted, while commoner priests were still carrying the blessing of god, which is why when the common priest blesses the water that the townspeople use to fight the demons it works and burns them. I get the feeling that while Blue Fangs is an enemy, he has respect for God and what he does. The Bishop's antics are a slander he's not willing to allow to continue, even if it helps his side out more. The only thing I'll disagree with Blue Fangs on is the subject of love. It isn't the love that is conditional, it's the forgiveness. Forgiving someone for something when they're gonna go right back to doing it again is just plain not gonna work. That, however, is independent from loving them. Some times, you just gotta let someone piss on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

I like this addition to the vampire lore, how the religious icons and relics can only protect one of true faith and not just any fanatic with a cross saying they’re religious when they’re not. It creates a lot more depth when someone who uses these items and has true faith can use them to ward off vampires
I gotta reread Salem's Lot. My memory is a little fuzzy, but there was a part where a priest who once had a crisis of faith was initially protected from a vampire but the vampire talked him into doubting himself, losing his protections...
What's scary is, this priest was a true believer of God. He believed that the killing of innocents was something God wanted, which would earn him a spot in heaven. I don't believe in God myself, but if what the Bible says is true, God loves all his children, even if they don't necessarily love him back. I truly think Jesus would weep if he knew that he died for people's sins, only for them to commit more sins in his name.

The demon is just showing the priest his hypocrisy that’s all.they are happy he doesn’t have God protection hence why he says he loves the priest, they take extreme joy in seeing human suffer and go to hell with them.
The entire time the priest was doing things for himself and not for God. Regardless if he truly believe he is doing it for God it doesn’t negate his evil action because it puts Gods’ name in vain. Big G don’t like his name being used for evil stuff.
Like the demon says it’s not fully unconditional love, God can only do so much for the priest. It’s up to him and other humans to make their decisions on how they wanna live their life on earth.
This scene is a good example of what the Bible talks about when it comes to false prophets, Luke warm Christian, and spiritually dead churches

I love that while they still gave this demon a bit of a guttural, growly voice they also gave it an almost cultured, measured tone to its caidence as well. It really sells that this is a creature of unfathomable age that knows what it's talking about more than the delusional fool standing before it. Plus it gives just that extra touch of mocking contempt to its voice that's oh so delicious.
Props to the Voice Actor Fred Tatasciore! He has an incredible range in voice acting. You may know him from Call of Duty Zombies as Nikolai, or Megatron from the Transformers WFC/FOC games, as well as The incredible hulk, Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda, etc.
That demon is most likely a human tho. In the show, night creatures are created by taking damned souls out of hell and putting them in the bodies of the dead.

The Bishop not being able to lie to Blue Fangs nor God was true karmic moment where he knew he was fucked, and we were all here for this scene.
Major props to the priest's voice actor for capturing the downward spiral into fear.
1. Proud and confident ("Are the Speakers dead?")
2. Shaken but standing strong ("You cannot enter the house of God.")
3. Confidence and faith begin to crumble ("My life's work is in His name.")
4. One last, desperate reach for his status/confidence. ("I...I am the bishop of Gresit!")
5. Absolute fear ("She was a witch!")

The voice-overs for pretty much every character in this show are amazing, but the Bishop's VA did a fantastic job of playing the arrogant and self-righteously sadistic ecclesiarch with too much power for his or the peasants' own good.

It's more than just that. In the New Testament, Jesus mentions he is gonna demolish the temple in three days and build it anew. For many, this is a way of saying the new faith is not gonna require massive buildings but just Faith. In the show, Faith is shown to have actual effect, as Trevor asks a proper priest to bless the water to make it Holy. The demon through this dialogue alone shows that they understand more about Faith that the Bishop, and that he simply does not posess Faith in god, therefore, God is not there.

I just love how the demon _deconstructs_ the bishop. Every talking point the bishop brings up the demon smacks down and he doesn't even need to say much. I just hits the spot just right for each excuse the bishop brings up. He isn't just mocking the priest but straight up trying to teach him one final lesson before brutalizing him. It's a case of "It takes someone evil to recognize evil in others."
What I love about the demon is that he doesn't do like other demons from other works and denies God's existence. He's fully aware that God exists and how He works and tells it all to a corrupt and hypocritical Bishop. Very well done.
What's interesting is that in some older texts it was believed that Satan and his followers were more than capable of quoting the scriptures so that they could distort god's word and make people stray from the path of righteousness. And yet here you really do get the impression that the demons didn't have to distort shit because the Bishop and those like him had already done so.

Revenge is satisfying to think about in this context. But when things get to the actual revenge, our brain finds many self-righteous reasons to hide inherit sadistic tendencies that are natural to all humans. You see revenge feels good, but where do you draw the line and say "Thats it, my revenge is done, we cool now", because that never happens. Sometimes people don't even need an actual harm done to them, or have an actual target of their "righteous rage" to satisfy their need to cause pain and misery onto those who "deserve it". Example in America of our days: If you are a man, white and christian - it already is enough to villainize you and condemn you for every wrong doing your possible ancestors did. So its okay to bully, deplatform and slander you, because in their eyes you are a villain that deserves all of that cause of your traits, and masses and media will be okay for it, because they all stand for "what is right".
Ofcourse I exaggerate, and speak roughly, but there is truth to what I just wrote.
And they say revenge is wrong. To me, revenge goes hand in hand with justice. Not to bring suffering but closure.
The color choice is superb. The firery red for the fanaticism of the bishop's beliefs, against bright blue. Blues are usually used for good guys. But here it is used as cold truth. And in this moment, the demon is doing good by sending a monster into hell.

My favourite detail is how the Bishop is completely bathed in red light, save for the two tiny specks of blue in his eyes, reflecting the demon's light. For the eyes are the windows to the soul - and for all he might deny it, he knows the demon speaks the truth.
Zombiewithabowtie I agree. It is wonderfully done. I like how in one shot you can see him holding his rosary 📿. His hand shaking. Then when the demon kills him the rosary falls to the floor. And then seeing the stained glass windows as he is killed makes it more horrifying because you can’t see what’s happening. But you have an idea.

Holy fucking shit, this line is absolutely bone-chilling. So are all the things Blue Fangs says but this line in particular stuck with me. This being of evil, lies, and discord literally calls the priest out on his bullshit and tells him straight that he's going to burn in hell. What a marvelous scene.
Its note entirely accurate though. Gods love is unconditional, but his protection from demons is not.

It's possible if the Priest actually had some shred of faith in him, his church might have held back the Demons-the power of Faith could be like a torch, it just needs kindling and fuel. Blue Fangs was planting doubt and fear in him...that everything he said was true, just made it easier. The man was half way to damnation as it was. BF just moved things along. If we accept that Gods love is unconditional, then Priest failed his final test. Believing he was no longer worthy of being loved, no longer worthy of the Light of God.
Which is of course, being in Hell.
Flyeyes later said that hell is not only populated by bad people but people that were push to an extreme by bad people, flyeyes itself was not a bad person himself, not a liar, not a killer but an schoolar forced to reveal his fellow schoolars whereabout and thus betray them making him a sinner. Thinking about it, the fact that Blue fang can talk mean he was probably a lower sinner persecuted by the church
@@Soulxstar flyeyes admits he became a liar to protect himself from torture, and that he named names to be spared being tormented further. He did deserve to be in Hell for being a Traitor and a Deceiver. but those roles were "forced" on him. He did sin though, he admits it.
This scene demonstrates what the Third Commandment, "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain", is actually about. It's not about saying "God" or "Jesus" as swear words, it's about using the name of God to justify your monstrous actions. Saying you do something in His name does not mean you do it in His will.
I'm honestly glad to have that clarified. The other options are either unsatisfactory or full on swearing.

One of the best villain deaths of all time. Not only does the demon take the time to dismantle his entire belief system but it also takes enough time to let the horror of his upcoming trip straight to hell sink in. The facial expression animation and voice acting are dead on.

It's even more brilliant than that, because he didn't dismantle the belief system at all (he "believes too, and shudders" XD).
He proved that the Bishop been living a lie by revealing the truth about the system to which he claimed.
I love how as he wraps up his argument he goes in for the kill. So the entire time, the priest is in debate and not afriad because he has conviction in his actions. Hes not afriad of his mortal life, right as hes about to die he realizes he was an agent of the Devil and is going to hell, so he fears death at the very end
I like how brightly the bishop’s blue eyes shine in this, showing he is basically one with blue fangs. He is lost, and has knowingly cast God from his side.
Easily the most satisfying moment in the entire season.

The implications of the church, a place he believes demons cannot enter, being empty save for him when the town is under attack every night speaks volumes of the Bishop's character. He never served anyone but himself.
I always found him a selfish asshole(even more during this scene) and the fact that he said that they couldn't enter the house of God meant he knew demons couldn't enter a kept it all to himself not bothering to help civilians.
I like to think he was sheltering some people at night, like the ones he sent to kill the speakers, but was using the protection of the church as a tool of power, "go kill all the speakers or your not allowed back in tonight"
It’s the perfect epitome of hypocrisy when Christians say that priest isn’t really Christian. Don’t they realize that they are using the No True Scotsman Fallacy?

I know this show often gets criticized for its dialogue but as a Catholic and a fan of horror I just found this entire scene so brilliantly executed. At this point in the story we know the Bishop is more interested in power then he is in actually serving God or protecting the people. He assumed being ordained was enough for Gods protection and the demon flat out tells him it wasn’t. The Bishop admitted he was more concerned with taking advantage of the crisis for political power then he was actually helping anyone from the evil.
This show often gets criticized for dialogue? Odd, if anything that seems to be the thing most consistently praised.

The show simply showed that even (or especially) the Church is prone to corruption in the higher positions. Which is not exclusive to Castlevaina, this portraial of the Church has been used in many media sources and this view is not coming from nowhere.
But people who complain about this portrail (which if you look at modern Christian Religion is nothing but true facts!) are fucking idiots.
