Beautiful piece. Perfect writing for the instrument. Uses it’s timbre, resonance, and decay just perfectly. Shout out to whoever mixed this. The low end almost always causes peaking.
I really like how the piece plays with a lot with polyrhythms and repeating notes, kind of like a heartbeat. It really gives it a fascinating sense of movement, and when there is a gap, I feel even more anticipation. I’m so glad I found this; you play wonderfully!
Fell in love with this piece as soon as I heard it. My friend and I just purchased it and are going to start preparing as soon as it gets here. Thank you for creating such an amazing duet!
Is this the padauk marimba? I plan on buying it one day. Majestic has some good prices and i'm glad I finally found a video on this marimba (if it is the padauk one that i'm saving for). Also really good performance
Thanks for watching! No this is not padauk, it is an earlier model rosewood Majestic marimba. Here are 2 videos of me playing the padauk marimba on the MajesticPercussion TH-cam channel. th-cam.com/video/ASCUajldMPk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/l5M5ndfyWb0/w-d-xo.html
Such a wonderful composition! I'm gonna be performing this for my Senior Recital next Spring and was wondering what series of the Van Slice Model did you use for the Marimba 1 part?
Thanks, Naoko! I had to record part one first and then overdub the second part. It was all done with click track to help line everything up. Still a challenge! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for creating one of the best music ever for marimba...
Thank you so much!
Anyone can change shirts for the split-screen effect. But changing belts, now THAT'S attention to detail! Beautiful piece, Alex. Hope you're well!
Ha ha ha! Thanks, Ben!
Don’t know why this was recommended to me 4 years later but its amazing..
Thank you!

Thanks so much! So happy to hear that you like the piece. Mixing was done by electric animal studios, I’m really happy with how it sounds!

Thanks, Daron! Van Sice M114 and M115 (or a combination of these) should work. Of course it depends on the instrument and the space you perform in.
Okay thank you so much!
How did you record this!?!? This is one of my favorites.
Thanks, Naoko! I had to record part one first and then overdub the second part. It was all done with click track to help line everything up. Still a challenge! Thanks for watching!
What mallets are you using for this piece?
Hi Lindsey, thanks for checking out my piece! I'm using Vic Firth Robert Van Sice mallets. A combination of M113, M114, M115.
