      Fire protection, standard gear

Anti flash gear, short term protective gear as protection against flame and heat. It was a simulated exercise so they wear all the protective gear as if it was a real engagement.

Whilst a welcome development Australia only has three Hobart Class AWDs. Theoretically only one can be deployed at any one time under normal circumstances whilst one is in refit and one is at rest/ training etc.
Given that our aged submarine fleet ( Collins Class ) has limited utility ( ie diesel, long transit times and on station duration), and there is no plans to adapt them to tomahawks - we have almost no deterrent capability, and little capacity to fight a war.
Realistically, and I might add realism is not a strong point when it comes to Defence spending and procurement, the likelihood of the US providing the nuclear subs in the early 2030’s is extremely problematic and unlikely as they are some seventeen boats short of their own fleet target.
Australia thus cannot arrest the likelihood of it losing its submarine capability entirely. It must therefore accept the only other option for acquiring deterrent capability in the short to medium term. It must buy a squadron of B21 stealth bombers at a time of extreme vulnerability .

Well their billions they invest on weapons is more what australian has to dispose off so why not?

Australia has a deal with the USA to produce and sell missiles and artillery to the USA. The USA knows that Australia is a strategic position, and Australia being able to produce weapons and ammunition will make it a more valuable strategic position.
