It’s amazing how many hateful, cynical and sarcastic comments are here. Some people took the their time to write how much they hated it instead of just saving their energy for a video they like, or for something positive in their own life, for that matter. But then again I look at the more than 40,000+ LIKES that this 4-minute video has and I realize that overall the majority of humanity would still prefer to spread kindness and encouragement while applauding the efforts of others. Thank you for uploading. And great job to everyone who made the effort to play together in unity.
It's a great effort and was a lot of work. It's what musicians do best. But this simply does not work. If you like it then, good for you. I think it sucks and the leader should have known the outcome before even starting. And yes, I play classical guitar.
@@PhilJonesIII im just curious, what do you think is not right about it. I think it's calming, maybe because i wasn't expecting anything, but what do you think the mood and execution is like. I know you said you dont like it. But im just wondering if it's purely difference of opinion or wether it's point of view.
@@lmarsh5407 Firstly, I know well enough the kind of time and effort that went into this production. No way am I knocking that. I just don't think it was very wise. Back in the 80s, when I was learning the guitar, I used a Kimbara which is a good-enough brand. My teacher used a model of similar quality. We spent several months of lessons to practice a Vivaldi piece to play at a concert. The day arrived and he shows up, not with his practice guitar but, with a Ramirez. We tuned the guitars together before going on stage but it was clear that despite the tuning, I was playing a pub-piano and he a Steinway-grand. Poor Vivaldi must have turned in his grave that night because the result can be best described in the words of the late-great Ivor Cutler, "Syncopated hiccups." I wanted to die but not before opening up Vivaldi's grave and begging his forgiveness. It had been three minutes of torture and to this day, I never understood how my teacher could have failed to anticipate the problem. He did acknowledge later that the Ramirez might have been a mistake. Both instruments would have made the grade alone. Together, they sounded awful. Classical Guitars can work well in small groups together but at the cost of limiting the potential range of the individual guitars. Some are naturally louder, have more depth and resonance. Those differences can even be exploited where each guitar has its part. In a group as large as this, then you limit potential expression way too much. Also, I was on the edge of my seat, just waiting for some long-practiced section to just die. That would have been enough to crush some of the players involved. I know that feeling and that's why it made me uncomfortable.
@@PhilJonesIII Thanks! Its hard to come up with a reply so i'll just thank you again for the great reply. I understand you now. I dont have as much experience with guitars(none) so i guess my ears can be called a bit more naïve.
For those not familiar, 200 guitars at the same time is the perfect number according to the golden rule of harmony/fibonnaci reductionism applied to music theory. Yes i just made that shit up, nice cover though.
I love how no one seemed to realize there was actually a violin soloist there playing as well. That sound wasn't just guitars, ya'll. Beautifully played thoufh.
Greeks! You were -and are- the people of the Μουσαι, the Muses, the divine creatures who protected all the Arts, and gave their name to Music. From a Roman, to Greeks..Grazie! Thank you!
Beautiful waltz! The violinist is awesomely gifted by God. I enjoyed this so much. Wonderful to hear, and nicely done. The conductor did a good job balancing the sound. This is my favorite waltz, and thank you for sharing. This was recorded on a cell phone, which is very limited for sound. I would have liked to have heard it in person, in real time.
Here's two kind of people. Those who hate it and those who love it. I personally don't like the sound of a single guitar, makes me sleep. But all of these together, in my opinion, is wonderful.
I can't listen to this song cause it reminds me of my sweet youth. It's so awesome and adorable. Yann Tirsen is genius that composed this immortal melody that will live many houndred years.
200 guitars are still impressive, but only ONE violin starts at 2:14 and steals the show, and envelopes the hall with her so emotional sound... what an amazing instrument //
Yeah, for a decade I was only listening to music where guitar is the main instrument, but the past year I've been getting into violin stuff (mainly violin concertos) and it's such a wonderful instrument, with so much more possibilities imo
10 seconds of all these guitars together and I began to cry. I'd like to belong to somewhere in music, but sometimes it seems better to take away the dream...

I could be wrong, but the slight differences in intonation with that many guitars just tangles the sound. With frets they can't adjust like a traditional orchestra.
Clickbait title..should have been 200 guitars and a VIOLIN 😘 ahahaha great performance I love playing this song on the piano! Sounds good with guitars too
Anyone who loves music, puts on this masterpiece and doesn't get wet eyes doesn't love music. What a performance! More than amazing! But 200 guitarists, without belittling them, a single violin eclipses 200 guitars! What an instrument (and performer!) I watched this like one month ago. And today I spent almost an hour trying to find this video again. Worth it 😂
Dude i have never heard more than one guitar play at once and this is mind blowing
200 guitars is more than enough definitely but I have no idea why people are saying this sounds horrible. It sounds in tune for the most part.
Being in tune is a really low bar to clear for a bunch of guitars with frets
... because it DOES sound horrible.
