Molding the turntable mechanism into the plastic cabinet is not a good idea. That will make it more prone to picking up vibrations.
It won’t matter either way on this.
Why won’t it matter either way? Curious.
It is fine to use. I still wish they would make a unit that has more control over the sound being reproduced. Either bass and treble control or graphic equalizer.
Perhaps a bass and treble control was what the knock out was for? Just saying!
I wouldn't even mind a simple, singular tone control. It used to be that most audio gear, even the cheap stuff, included a tone control. Stereo stuff usually also included a balance control as well. You seldom see these things in entry-level audio equipment anymore.
I find with this sort of unit that using the headphone output into an external amp gives a better sound than using line out. More bass and a fuller tone . Also it allows the volume control on the unit to be used .
Buena idea😊
For what it is, I think it's an excellent little unit - and I personally feel it would be worth listening to through an external amplifier and speakers to improve the sound. As you stated, the FM radio was great, as was the bluetooth performance and vinyl quality was fine too. I was pleasantly surprised.
My Jensen 1250 AIO's dust cover has the same cutouts to make room for an LP yet be able to close the cover. But those cutouts let the dust in, so I have to clean the unit's turntable and surrounding area quite often. My Victrola Mid-Century VTA 270B does not have that problem. It's lid/dust cover closes completely to where you can't see the turntable in action, but can still listen to it. Which means the Victrola is much wider than the Jensen (about 2") but I can live with that. The Victrola also blends in like a piece of furniture; the Jensen looks like a tall black stone pillar.
Thanks for this!
Wow! NOT bad! Another great video! Happy Holidays from IOWA!!
Happy holidays!
You know, my grandparents had an electrophonic 8-track receiver + a BSR McDonald record changer, and replaced it with a Sears LXI all in one that uses the similar mechanism that all of the suitcase players use, and the older electrophonic/bsr stuff was so much more solid and felt so much better. Too bad the older stuff had spent 35 years in the shed and had rusted solid.
Also - I've seen some LP60-type turntables that have no damping at all, oddly
Ya the original lp60 was known for that
Wonderful box opening transitions!
LEDs or LCDs???
For the price this looks like a winner to me. Decent radio and BT are a nice bonus.
What is your best/favorite all in one like this with maybe little more bells and wistles like a remote?Thankyou!
According to some rumour on the net, Crosley uses the "JC" clone cartridges while Victrola uses "YD" clones. Would have been interesting to find the latter confirmed here (or not). There is also a video on YT where CT1660 compares both to the original CZ800. I found the YD to be quite a bit better sounding than the JC, which was truely awful.
I like this player....Very nice for the price etc....I think having watched this,i`m going to play some of my records with the white stylus cover still in place, just to see how well they play that way.Maybe if it works out, record player companies could actually glue the covers in position ?...so there`s no chance of them falling off in play ??...nice player, very nice review...ade
Can i connect a cd player to the vta-65 and have the sound come out of vta-65?Thankyou!
I still have my all in one unit from craig and still use it from time to time , Its from 1978 , My main unit that i mostly use is a mid 80's pioneer with a sony turntable and yamaha cd deck.
One additional thing to point out - I noticed there's an FM Stereo indication on this one too, when you were going through the stations it was showing for most of them; it's next to the frequency display. Just saying!
It does capture the look of the 70's. Even some of the plastic texture reminds me of products made then, which looks good on this. There's not much to complain about for the price their asking.
Hi, I just bought this one and I want to connect it to a couple jbl passive speakers , this is my first one so I’m not very sure about the theme of the preamp and the amp, should I look for both? You have any suggestions? Thank you very much
I think this is definitely a better one in the sense that it sounds like there's virtually no WOW and flutter and the tone arm isn't scraping anything. With the diamond stylus on it, it sounds like it will last a while. It seems unless the record is warped it won't hit the lid. With the lid down it may sound fuller with no bleed through from the needle being on the record. Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the review, I'm still enjoying my all in one from 2020, does this mean you're back working with Victrola?
What stylus would a recommended replacement?
When you do those cut shots on the unboxing, you should add a game-show like "Gling" sound-effect! 🔔🎶 As for FM radio, the compression you are thinking about is called "dynamic compression" in that as you correctly indicate, will compress the dynamic range (the range from the loudest to the softest sound) to make it fit the limited range of the signal bandwidth for an FM transmission, and thus of course, even cheap receivers will still be able to play it with somewhat decent sound. As for this particular unit, another in the long line of cheap plastic units, but for the price (from what I saw, around $50 or so bucks on Amazon), it seems to work quite nicely and would work for somebody that needs a decent, but inexpensive unit to get started, or something to have to play music in a game room, or wherever a secondary sound system could be handy.
Do you collect any vintage players anymore?
LIKE number 5 and that's no jive. :)
I’d really like to see some vintage units reviewed as well, fam! Peace.
Be good to make a chart at the end of vlogmas reviews see which was your favorite and which was worse
The guy may spell his name MacLeod, so I understand where you get the pronunciation, but in 9 out of 10 cases you would be wrong. The name is either Gaelic or Irish, and is usually pronounced "Mac Cloud." You might want to look it up, but I think I'll be correct. Just a little FYI
Sound is not bad
I really preferred your longer, more creative intros.
If I were a young person, I would prefer this to a suitcase player.
Thank you.
For 51 dollars it's not bad a fm radio to boot I'd upgrade needle but that's about it many home radios cost that alone pretty reasonable not gonna beat songs or audio tehnias but they vost 100 or more great for people who can't afford high end which there millions of
Wouldn’t recommend it in a bathroom, water and electricity don’t mix.
I agree
The Eastwood is better
Obvious rubbish is obvious rubbish
