    Fun fact: the talent to move and shoot is a direct reference to dragoon micro in StarCraft. If you moved them and then hit hold position, their fire rate would reset, so you could make them shoot much faster if you micro'd them well.

    Tips from a Fenix main:
    -Fenix' greatest weakness is that he's fat, so you need to walk further to dodge stuff than you would with any other assassin aside from Azmo.
    -If you're shooting someone in repeater mode but they're about to move out of range than switch back to artillery mode. Could've taken out Jaina at 2:14 with that. Anyway even if they're not low enough to get the kill, you should practice getting that 1 extra hit in, it's going to get you value eventually.

    I love fenix, mines at lvl 201 with 59.7% win rate. IMHO a little more defensive build works very well. I prefer divert power weapons at 7, purification salvo at 10, rapid recharge at 13 or dampening field if the enemy is heavy on spell damage, photonic weaponry at 16 has great synergy with rapid recharge or offensive cadence for beefy teams, and unconquered spirit baits enemies into trading with you. Just my preferences, hope enjoy my favorite hero

    Hi @MFPallytime
    In 184 games on Fenix I've amassed a 65.8% with rate, alongside a pretty nifty 10.2 KDA Ratio, with the following talents.
    1: Mobile Offense
    4: Emergency Protocol
    7: Divert Power: Weapons
    10: Planet Cracker (Always, even with no combo potential)
    13: Auxilary Shields
    16: Arsenal Overcharge*
    20: Singuilarity Charge
    * Consider Offensive Cadence with beefy teams/Cho'gall/DW.
    1: is a given and scales throughout the game with both weapon types.
    4: Gives you the movement speed at a lower stack, but without the pre-requisite of having to hit someone.
    7: You can literally take a camp before the shield runs out. And also useful in PvE landing and PvP situations (but careful in the later)
    Can be used both offensively and defensively (e.g. like 12:44 in this video). Combos amazingly with 13, 16 and 20 and both weapon types.
    10: FUN!! And zoning purposes.
    13: Gives you more shield and a way to restore them, at the cost of less health (which you shouldn't end in from now on). Enables easy camps.
    16: If you engage in laning between fights, and use the single target accordingly, you'll be surprised at how often you'll have your ult up.
    20: Combos amazingly with other talents in build.
    * With the OC talent, you can literally wreck beefy boys with the attack rate and +6% health every 3rd shot.
    Playstyle:
    Doesn't completely focus on one weapon type, heavy focus on siege and camps (we're alike there) and can still shred in team fights.
    Although teleport do have to be used less offensively with this build.
    Looking forward to seeing more of Fenix the coming weeks.

    tip i think you need the most(3 minutes into the video), the W switch from repeater cannon to AOE basic attack is something like 0.5 seconds cooldown, so just switch to Aoe basic attacks when clearing waves. you also have bigger range on the AAs and deal more dmg per shot. So, at least i, like to open up with 1, maybe 2 bomb AAs and switch repeater as enemy walks into me, or i chase them
    6 minutes in: LoL. shooting the ult to see if it does dmg to buildings. it's written in the ult description that it doesnt~ thank you for the laugh, that was really funny for me. Love you, Pally~
    oh. and i donno about builds BUT, at level 7 you get Divert Power: Weapons, cuz you can activate it even when you have no shield left. so, you trade, you lost shield, you activate it and just deal extra dmg for "free".

    • @Caedusea
      @Caedusea ปีที่แล้ว +1

      divert power: weapons doesnt get rid of your shield until the attack bonus ends, not on activation. so as long as you keep attacking during a fight you dont need to worry about it since the 5 second duration resets on each attack.

    • @Shadow.24772
      @Shadow.24772 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Caedusea daaaayum. it's even better then i thought. so, you lose the bonus when either, the fight it's over, so the shield doesn't matter, or you retreated, cuz you are dying, so the shield is down anyway, or when you're dead...
      yup, none of the other talents at this level can even compare at this point~

    Best and only tip I know for Fenix is to play 100% as a poke machine and consider every talent as your secret burst dmg, so you try to low enemy's life and bring out the extra power to close the deal. It works most of the time cause people tend to get use to your dmg at the beginning and as game goes on they don't really see the mysterious extra dmg burst coming, specially when you don't use it all the time but only when you can secure kills :)

    So the biggest tip that isn't readily apparent from your video but you were doing is the stutter-stepping that is required for that lvl 1 talent. More so on the 'how' you were doing that.
    You did talk about it slightly when mentioning the Fenix rework era. The attack animation used to be cancelled in 2 different ways depending on the timing and talents, so by cutting out the animation function it was effectively increasing your DPS.
    Currently, we need to use the Stop action button to accomplish the same thing without needing to do the complex button mashing 😂.
    I usually key-bind the 'Stop' action to my "S" key and recommend that to others as well as it's next to the default setup.
    For those reading, you basically move or attack/move and immediately push the Stop button after each auto attack.
    This can also help with having a more responsive time with your teleport in sticky situations.
    Very fun character, now i need to play Fenix again

    I haven't played this game in such a long time but Fenix was one of my favorites. My preferred build was around the Plasma Cutter. Getting whatever I could to make it better. At lvl 5 grabbing the base increased move speed, increased further when shield is gone. Then play close range, start beam on top of enemy player and walk around them counter clockwise while the beam goes clockwise. That allows it to hit a few more times than it normally would and since it already slows their movement by 25% it just makes it that much easier to run circles around them. I personally prefer the planet cracker, it's just so much more fun to me. No idea how well it does now though.

  • @atsukana1704
    @atsukana1704 ปีที่แล้ว

    Something to note is how to use your w ability effectively. It may seem deceptive at first that you want to use the aoe for groups and single target to hone in on one person, but this isn’t the best way to use it at all.
    Instead think of it based on range, while it is still safe to use the single target, keep firing with that. If an enemy is about to get away or you just want to safely poke a bit, use the aoe. This changes the way you look at the ability quite a bit. You’ll see many fenixes swap frequently based on the situation even when focused on one of the two modes.
    Also about the talent you took for teleport, only tp in when you can guarantee the kill for the reset, otherwise you have left yourself a short ranged sitting duck. Most of the deaths you had were related to teleporting at the wrong time.

  • @SeviCZ
    @SeviCZ ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Few tips: Face checking bushes with you E when you have 0 shields isn't very safe.
    Most of the time E to initiate kills you unless you know you can kill the target and reset the cooldown.
    Most important tip is switching to the bomb a lot more rather than trying to sneak few empowered attacks by moving a lil is way more efficient to poke with the long range W
    Couple times you lost a lot of DMG because you try to move in between each attack. That's a normal Fenix bad habbit for most of us at first I think. But if you master the art of switching the weapons to utilize the range, dmg per shot and AOE of the bomb is really so important that I would advise to try and play with bomb most of the time rather than the canon. The attack speed is nice but it's all gone when you try to move all the time as well. So move and attack is so much more powerful in lane with the bomb than you can imagine, you gotta live it.
    Anyway, love you Walter and your content, hope you're doing well.

    Ok so time for a story. There was a period of time where I hated Abatur so much(I think the absolute lack of any risk makes it the stupidest hero IMO) that I wanted to pick heroes to counter it. To that end, I tried to master 2 heroes, both quite hard. They were Tyrande(because of the owl) and Fenix(Because of planetcracker).
    So my 2 cents on fenix and your build:
    I think the warp in build does not fit fenix design. That asks for an all-in playstyle, or at least requires some savers from your team, whereas fenix has the shield, which asks you to trade and regenerate the shield, and the phase cannon that is designed to move and shoot. I never managed to make warp build work and I have also not seen it used succesfully in solo queue much. I think the talent where you trade your shield for more damage is much better and you can also get the shield "lifesteal" talent.
    I think warp is much better as a get out ability and you will often overchase to kill and need a get out of jail ability.
    I also think this game the laser build would have been a lot better. The amount of damage that ability can do in long fights is insane. There are some tricks you need to know about the laser though:
    - The laser can hit enemies 3 times in 2 turns if you and the enemy moves. It is kind of painfull to remember how to do it, so I simplified it as much as possible. If you are on the left side of the map and enemy is on the right, you need to put the laser start to the top of them and move downwards to make it hit one more time. That is also easier to do if you start the fights from the topside in relation to the enemy. If you are on the right side and the enemy is on the left, it is inverted. You need to put the laser start to the bottom of the enemy and move upwards. This time you need to start skirmishes from bottomside of the enemy moving up. That way you can guarantee +1 laser proc and focus on other things like stutter stepping.
    - If you do perfect stutter step micro, you will still not be able to keep the enemy in your laser while chasing. That means, you need to fire slower than your max fire rate, to keep them within the laser. And since the laser slows and does damage, you will ultimately deal more damage that way. This becomes negligable when you get the lvl 4 talent and apply it.
    - Remember to always first activate the laser before using your "not planet cracker" ult.
    - If you see Abatur on the map unaware, you can almost guarantee a kill with immediate cast of planet cracker on top of him. If you combine this with abatur finding heroes, you can make life hell for them. I hate abatur so much.
    - Your hitbox is massive and your health is not that much. Even if you are fullhealth, you are still squishy.
    - Finally, there is a rhythm to fenix, espeically on solo lanes. you go in, use abilities, AA until you trade your shield and warp away. Ideally do this when the creeps are halfway dead. That way, by the time the next creepwave comes, you have your shield regenerated, the cooldowns ready and can do it again. This might feel slow at first, but that is the best performance you get from Fenix, trying to get more will result in you trading your health and that always ends up bad for you. Burst and all-in are simply not his strengths, but he is very very annoying if he can do consistent dps with controlled aggression and retreat. If you do that, he almost feels inevitable, since he will tire you out and eventually kill your team.

    @americanexistentialist4756 ปีที่แล้ว

    I play lots of fenix, especially the teleport build you played this time. With the teleport build, you should play fenix similar to lunara with leap. You kite around on the outside of the fight, then teleport in with a large amount of burst at the opportune moment when they can't do anything about it. Assuming someone on the enemy team dies, you can then teleport a 2nd time to either chase or get out of the way. But you're mostly kiting and poking (I will even use purification salvo like a massive poke) until you see an opportunity to go for the kill.
    If you want to try the large aoe splash, that's really meant for solo lane fenix. You know how in league you and the other laner poke at each other and the person who walks away first typically takes one extra poke? The big damage aoe bomb at 1 is meant to replicate that in Hots. You use repeater cannon until they have to walk away or back out, then the big burst on w secures the kill or makes a trade way worse than the opponent expected. Don't get lured into the trap of taking all of the aoe talents: the repeater cannon move speed works better with the big aoe than the slow on the aoe. Repeater cannon move speed is just a better talent than the others at 4. Fenix has great talent diversity but that one at 4 is not really optional.

  • @badguy5

    The best advice that I can give for Fenix, as bland as it sounds, is an adage of Always Be Blasting. If you are moving and can attack, attack move. His attack speed is so fast and with that Level 1 you are rewarded so heavily for doing it that there is no reason not to. It's just more and more value for doing things you'd be doing anyway.
    Also, his chunker attack does splash damage so it's nice to occasionally pop a few of those into the enemy team when you see a chance. I like to do it for when I see a hero near minions, or the enemy team stacked up at 3.

    hey pally, ive been watching a lot of your content and i dont think ive ever seen you try this build. I main brightwing and ive played her up to lvl 650 i think, you should try this build : go bribes at level 1 and the max out your Q (and i always go blink for infinite get out of jail free card). with that build past level 4, you can theoretically be able to buy a full camp within a minute of teamfight if you land all your Q back to back. I find it super rewarding to play, because to more accurate and split push that you do, the more macro around the map youll have. Bribes with brightwing are the best bribes because you can buy a camps right before an objective on the other side of the map and use Z to engage objective with your team. I hope you see and try this! much love & keep up the good content :)

    It might not be considered that good, but I play my Fenix as a long range bully.
    Talents: Mobile offense, Emergency Protocol, Divert Power, Planet Cracker, Auxiliary Shields, Photonic Weaponry, then Singularity Charge or Unconquered Spirit depending on how the game goes.
    The point of the build is to keep firing the long range bombs forever, bullying people in lane and setting up picks in team fights. The range and consistent 10% speed buff at level 4 makes it hard for people to engage onto you, but if they do, shields drop and you can just walk away, regen them back in a few seconds and walk back in, attacking you is a waste of time. From there its just about increasing the damage, slowly increasing the pressure until the other team breaks. I'm not the one getting kills or pulling off clutch plays, but I never go down, and never stop pushing against the enemy team.

    I am by no means a master at Fenix, but I do know a trick or two that was taught to me by someone who is.
    1. Arsenal synergy has the highest overall DPS if you utilize one very important fact about Fenix's auto attacks: he has two separate cooldowns for each mode.
    We can use this to our advantage because we can use repeater cannon's faster attack speed to override phase bomb's slow wind up. Here's a great video that showcases ways to use this:
    th-cam.com/video/b4kawSK7wmA/w-d-xo.html
    2. Divert Power: Weapons is a fantastic level 7 that you used in your A-Z video, however it's got some nuances to it that weren't touched on. You gain 40% attack damage for 5 seconds which can be extended indefinitely as long as you keep auto attacking a hero. Its downside being that if you let it fall off you lose all of your shields, however it can still be used when you have no shields. Also it's important to note that you don't lose your shields until the duration ends, not when you activate it. Don't be afraid to use this all the time for small fights or even just sieging a tower or fort.
    3. All of Fenix's 13 talents are great, but situation dependent. In this game I would have taken Rapid Recharge since you had constant healing incoming from Morales. Auxiliary Shields is great when you have easy targets to wail on and helps mitigate the downside of Divert Power.
    4. Singularity Charge is almost always the best level 20, it just feels so nice and makes everything you are already doing better.
    5. Have fun playing my favorite plasma Crab

  • @geeemm135
    @geeemm135 ปีที่แล้ว

    talent recommendation: at 13 i always pick aux. shields, because with the other talents (% based dmg at 16, more attack speed at 20%) you can easily mitigate and keep up your shields during combat. and the health trade off is valueable imo sine even lategame, fenix is fairly squishy (if you look at his hp alone)

Personally I tend to go circle just because you dont always get to move and I like taking the increased attack speed after tporting. Also planet cracker imo is better for normal games, if you have something that locks down its amazing but you can also use it to snipe people who just almost get away.
    I tend to build 1,1,3,2,1,3,3. At least thats how i gold ringed. The first talent always gives value regardless of moving, shooting faster builds into more planet cracker/tporting/circle ability.

It allows the plasma cannon to get involved and creates a little mini game where you charge up your orb and then use it at specific moments like to clear a minion or merc wave in one shot, aoe blast clumped up heroes, seige dmg, or as a finishing shot on heroes as they run away from repeater cannon hits
    Also would it be op to give fenix an ult upgrade for his planet cracker where the width doubles or triples

  • @Osma777
    @Osma777 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am no expert on Fenix, but one thing I noticed is that you hated (or forgot) using the "chunker". It is an aoe (perfect for wave clear) that does more damage IF you hit multiple targets. There were several times when enemies would group up in a tight knot (not to mention samuro) where the aoe attack would have done tremendous damage, but you kept pew-pew-ing away at a single enemy for chip damage instead.
    iirc, the move/shoot talent works with both damage forms, so moving and hitting with a massive aoe is an easier way to keep up with enemy groups.
    This is even more obvious when you have high speed attacks, as the micro movements needed to make the single target do more damage, actually slowed down the fire rate. If you were using the bigger hit (and assuming it also gets faster fire rate) you would be able to still get full value out of moving, but hit targets much farther away, much more impactfully, and in an area of effect.

  • @blazeman999999999999
    @blazeman999999999999 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For lvl 1 talents, I personally don't like "Mobile Offense" most of the time. I think it can work if you plan to default to using Phase bomb, but if you plan to use repeater cannon a lot you tend to lose out on a lot of attack speed if you try to stutter step every shot. "Advanced Targeting" also has the additional benefit of increasing your Auto Attack damage against non-heroes, so it's my preferred pick for lvl 1.
    Lvl 4 talents I prefer Emergency Protocol, because it gives you a constant speed boost which helps your kiting.
    Lvl 7 depends on the match. IMO, Warp Warfare works best with an assassin-like DPS to help you get kills for your reset. I'd say try the "Divert Power: Weapons" suggestion from "MDJIGGS", it seems really good on paper.
    Lvl 10 depends on playstyle. "Purification Salvo" is a lot easier to use, and if you're planning to teleport in aggressively I'd definitely pick it to burst down people. Planet Cracker is better for playing further back, so that you can sit there channeling safely
    Lvl 13 I think each has their place. I tend to gravitate to "Rapid Recharge" if there's a solid healer on the team, or "Auxiliary Shields" if I want to be self-sufficient.
    Lvl 16 I almost always take "Photonic Weaponry". Combined with the lvl 13 picks that I like, you just have a flat 20% damage bonus most of the time. The other two aren't bad either, but I tend to avoid "Offensive Cadence" when I don't 'need' it, because I don't like feeling locked into using Repeater cannon
    Lvl 20 either "Singularity Cannon" for attack speed and range, or "Unconquered Spirit" if you are getting focused really hard

    Fenix certainly has one heck of a DPS rate, you melted through every survival tool a Mei had once, and 3/4 of them another time!
    And that’s with them putting the serious freeze on you.

    I really love playing Fenix even if it can be frustrating at times. My best advice is to play him kind of like a butcher. A bit of poking but save teleport for team fights or engages.

    Fenix is a poker, not a pusher, unfortunately. His health just vanishes after seconds in any sustained fight.

  • @josemontes478

    So tip for Fenix. Your W cost no mana an has basically no cooldown so use it as often as you can. Specially in the early game if you are not constantly switching between firing modes you are probably doing something wrong.
    Fenix has a lot of very fun talents and play-styles. So even of they are not meta try them out.
    For lv 13. Don’t take the talent that converts healing received into shielding unless you have a healer. Sounds stupid but I hace seen it many many times.
    And for wave clearing, target the mage and use the long range AA.

    Pally, what does "Get out of that butt!" mean? :D :D
    On a side note, I think there was some trick for the ultimate stutter step that's available only with the high attack speed of Fenix, where you just hold your mouse move button down and you spam H (I think) to repeatedly stop moving for just a milisec and fire off a shot.
    I'm not a Fenix player by any means, but I saw Fan do it once and it was quite funny if anything :D Maybe someone who plays Fenix will correct me if I'm wrong

    I actually like the long range aoe auto attack better. But I typically play with Diablo and zeratuls, so I deal the most damage in the game but have the lowest kills and then just jump and slap around half health targets. Also the double wide death lazer and an octograb is cancer

  • @mishachernyakhovskiy
    @mishachernyakhovskiy ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm new to Fenix as well and I like to play him as artillery. Its a bit safer to stick with phase bomb over repeater cannon and while the signle target DPS is lower it does astronomical damage in teamfights from a safer distance.
    1-mobile offense at lvl 1 to stack more damage on top of the phase bomb damage boost. hitting multiple heroes multiplies the bonus damage it provides
    4-Inhibiting energy lets your long range attacks also slow the entire enemy team to help set up ally skillshots
    7-Divert power weapons to stack even more attack damage. amazing if you can stay back in teamfights and aoe the enemy team.
    10-whichever ult you prefer, salvo is easier to get value from, laser is better at global point denial
    13- Auxiliary shields lowers your hp but increases your shield total AND lets you "lifesteal" to regain shields. with the phase bomb hitting multiple people you get huge amounts of shield regen
    16- photonic weaponry gives you another damage boost while you have shields which you recharge on every single attack with your lvl 13 talent so its permanent +20% damage
    20- Singularity charge gives you another 1.25 range so you are even safer while bombarding down aoe bombs on the enemy team
    with all the talents active and phase bomb selected you deal an additional 120% attack damage with 2.5 extra range all of which is dealt in an AOE, slows enemies, and heals you (your shields) for 10% of damage dealt

    You could have switched to the long range AA a few times to get people after they got out of range. You should just be mindful of that. If you can recruit a #2 for your games, there's some fun combos with World Cracker, like entomb or lamb, maybe a modified spicy taco with Tyreal.
    Also, I know this is ancient history, but is there any chance those old Squadron videos are preserved somewhere? It looks like the channel is nuked, and I was disappointed. There's just a couple random ones from Rennie's channel.
