Even after running around for what I perceive to be several hours they are still running around, shouting and waving their torches about just like they were at the start. They are so very committed to being angry it is very impressive and definitely goes down as the angriest mob Ive ever seen.

I'm the original novel, Frankenstein was the only person who knew about the creature and tried to stop him on his own (which failed VERY badly). In the movie, pretty much everyone knows about the monster and that he created it, which is why he survived in the film
In the original ending, Henry Frankenstein dies or is killed before the monster throws him off the windmill. Universal saved Henry twice, in the sequel he was supposed to be blown up in the lab with the monster & his bride, Universal let him escape.

We watched all of these what were called horror movies the back in the fifties an early sixties on television. Guaranteed you would find one of them on a Friday night late show and almost guaranteed on a Saturday night Fright Night kind of show. There were absolutely tame compared to some of the modern horror monster movies okay, but they were fun.
The scene right before this is much better. Maria's father walking her lifeless body through the village while children say "mama look it's maria!" Brilliance.
I love that the extra at 1:08 wipes her face with handkerchief as the menfolk rush off. Was that scripted? Improvised? Just goes to show that there are no small parts.

And I'm pretty sure I know about loss since my dad passed away from his injuries that he sustained from the Middle East back in 2008. And for the record, I was with my dad, my brother, & my sister when we saw Van Helsing in theaters and we all enjoyed the movie.
