LOVE this quote from Pastor Jacob as we consider why Christian community is so vital to our faith! “The other aspect of church, and this is the one that I think often gets lost, is the point of ‘others’ - that we're designed and created in a way - we're ‘gifted,’ the Bible says - in a way in order to help others in their journey of following Jesus and becoming more like Him. And when we go to church, and what I mean by that is when we participate in a community, we actually get to use how God's created us to help others grow. And that's a huge deal that's actually vitally important to our growth. When we don't have an outlet to use our gifts and participation it's kind of like when you live in a way where you just consumed a whole bunch of food but you never worked out. You get fat because you never have an outlet to put those calories to. It’s the same way in our spiritual life. If we're just consuming on our own and we don't have an outlet of a community of people that we're pouring into, we get to be spiritually fat and anemic. We stop growing in a healthy way and we start growing in an unhealthy way.”
When you think of the church, what comes to mind? What impact has the church had on your life? If you're not plugged into the local church, what is stopping you?
I grew up Catholic and got nothing out of the weekly service . Recently joined a Bible (King James Only) believing church. So much judgement on lifestyle. I like a glass of wine and modern music etc. This was not tolerated. I left this church. I think people need to feel comfortable in their belief and relationships with the “church” Found a Christian Center where I swim . Part of the deal is to attend Bible Study. No particular bible required and open discussion. For now this is all I need. Your question about how do you know? My solution if you are treated as a conquest than that church is not for you . The sermon was very Christ centered but the members though very nice made me feel uncomfortable.
Thanks for Sharing Judy. We hope you are able to navigate finding a church home. If it helps we have services around Metro Detroit, Michigan and also you can join us online! visit woodsidebible.org/im-new/ to learn more about us!

Such a good reminder that church just isn't about showing up on Sundays, but about the community and accountability. Great episode!

As a super introverted person (lol) this is something I wonder about a lot. This really helped my perspective on the church. Love. This.
