I recall a disturbing incident where a Stanbic Bank employee, Martha, scammed people at the community branch, right under the noses of tellers and managers who were on shift for years. The fact that this went undetected for so long is alarming. Furthermore, the Chy Mall incident, which left many Ghanaians, including myself, victimized despite their impressive offices everywhere, has eroded my trust in financial institutions promising unusually high returns. What's even more disheartening is that our leaders are aware of these issues yet still grant licenses to such institutions, only to later narrate the stories of our woes. It's a sad reality, but what can we do?
So then again I will take this opportunity to ask Sheldon why don’t they use the Ghana card to track the owner?? Let’s be serious and know how we defend somethings

Bank of Ghana can't actually be blamed here tho. The thing is so far as a business is registered under the companies act, it can operate. However, the nature of the business (as submitted to the registrar of companies) is what could have brought BoG on board early. The name of the company in question here too doesn't seem like a bank that's into deposit taking. They might have registered the company for something else and rather delve into deposit taking (regulated by the bank of Ghana)
The Bank of Ghana's approach to handling these issues is alarming and potentially criminal. It's unacceptable that they're aware of unlicensed operations, yet they abruptly announce shutdowns, leaving customers' funds trapped. A more covert approach would have allowed them to apprehend the CEO before making the shutdown public. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time BOG has done this, resulting in people losing access to their money. As the financial sector's regulatory authority, they must prioritize protecting consumers and effectively regulate the industry to prevent such incidents. Its just sad.

It is silly to expect them to talk one-on-one with all 32 millions Ghanaians before you say they're doing their job. If you won't read and listen to the news, you will always learn the hard way.

US is not easy. It’s hard there too taxes, racism and difficulty to find jobs due to many factors such as low qualifications because of bad academic reputation from Africa, no good network and different to save money
People do not put their monies in these banks because they do not know about banks with international brabches oo, it's because of the convenience; the fact that workers come around everyday to collect your savings without transportation fare or any interests.

If they were never licensed, then it is the customers fault. People need to do due diligence. If they lost their license and BoG and the Government didn't do anything to warn the public then the Ghana Deposit Protection Corporation needs to get involved.
