I have an absolutely immaculate swing in comparison to this guy, have two collegiate golfers in the family and have played my whole life. I currently sit at a 3 handicap, and I guarantee this guy would whoop my ass solely because of his mental game. Cudos to you my friend, keep growing the game.

    • @roresteen

All due respect, no way you are a 3 handicap if you say this guy could “whip your ass”. I admire his skill and strategy to get up and down. It’s part of the game. But if you are scrambling on almost every hole, the short game will get exposed at some point. 🙂

Played the mountain course in January, beautiful place. I like your mindset with tee choice. Strangers who tell others what tees to play seem to forget that you still have to get the ball in the hole from any distance. Not like 500 yards adds 10 strokes to every game automatically

I’m a scratch player, and distance is 4th on the list of importance(for full swings). 1. Strike. You can’t be skulling and chunking the ball all day. 2. Direction. No balls out of play. Also important for GIR. 3. Distance control. Hitting the ball pin high will always leave you pretty close.

Hey Adam, just came across your channel and subbed. I'm a 100+ golfer, so I have zero room for suggestions, but it looks like you suffer with what I do, your right hip doesn't come back and dip enough, which means you're extending your arms as far as they should as if your hips were rotating far enough. I've been working on practicing dipping my right hip enough and making sure my torso also rotates with me, half as much as my bottom half. I watched Golf Sidekick's recent video, "How a World Class Swing Lesson Looks" and the amount of openness he's able to get once he opens the back swing is something I've been working on and thought you might give it a shot. Makes everything feel less tense and easier to swing.

With the handicap/index system it doesn't matter what tees you play from. Look up the slope, rating, and conditions and it gives you the handicap for the day. Most people that try to stick you to a tee box probably dont carry a USGA handicap.

For what it is worth - we have similar games, I have never been a long ball hitter with the driver - took one lesson, and it has shaved 2-3 strokes off (minimum), as I have a more consistent drive now. Worked for me, hope it can work for you!

  • @analogadventures9869
    @analogadventures9869 ปีที่แล้ว

Im always frustrated with golf, my swing feels constant and comfortable to me, not to many distances and clubs make we worry. But I’ve always struggled to score, chipping feels fine and putter needs work, but im also very inpatient with putts, lol. When talking about pitch and putts, like you mentioned, that has been the biggest game improvement that I’ve seen, even more than the range, taking the pitch and putt to the course has been the most satisfying and biggest improvement I’ve seen to my game. I went from shooting around 94-97 in 2021 to 83-87 in 2022 and a few rounds at home courses that im familiar with I’ve shot 79 and a 81. I think what im getting at is, i feel like shooting mid 70s is so in reach but i don’t have the confidence to make enough pars in a round. What is your expectations or thoughts for yourself when you step on to a course, maybe even when the swing isn’t feeling good or when it is feeling good?

First comment ever. I like your attitude and love the indifferent mentality to bad shots. I do the same and it really helps. I am not a coach but the best advice to make clean contact in a fairway bunker i ever received was to move the ball back one ball, and look at the front of the ball during your swing. When i do that, i hit ball first and make better contact. Take it or leave it.

  • @trxe420

I kind of agree, though I would say the #1 thing you have to do is keep it in bounds off the tee. Besides that, distance, fairway, doesn't really matter to me. I would also say though, having a good approach would reduce that % around the green, but for most of us that isn't usually the case. I had a round just recently that proves all this. I hit all but 1 fairway and had my personal best drive ever, actually drove over a green on a par 4 at 331. The problem was I couldn't chip or putt though and ended up having my worst round in years.

This will be my second full season of golf. Some golf partners call me a sandbagger with my 28 HCP.
Recently I got "evaluated" by a good pro, who said that he couldn't remember a player with such differences in each part of the game.
I drive like a total noob. 150 to 220y with random directions. Skies and topspins... Usually, I start a round with a snowman on the first hole, due to two OBs from the tee.
    I hit woods - "not bad". 7w - 170-180y dead straight (I love this club), 5w - 190-200 so-so, 3w 210 with occasional slice.
    I hit long irons "decent".
I play short irons like a pro (up to 140y 19/20 I end up within 8y from the hole, often with 2y)
I pitch like a PGA player (25y to 60y I drop the ball with a dispersion of max 2y, and I get more pitch in the hole than I putt from 10f). Funny story, I learned this in one afternoon. On the empty range run by my friend. He had let me in and pitch all the balls on the range. 5 hours later I was like a machine.
    I chip decent.
    I put terribly.
I can play the first nine +20 and the second one +2.

    • @sleeth11
      @sleeth11 ปีที่แล้ว

@@NotAScratchGolfer I also had a similar issue. I found that focusing on rotating around my spine and keeping my head position still during the backswing helped a ton. It looks like you’re moving your axis of rotation during your takeaway, which will make hitting the sweet spot much more difficult. Slow down the backswing and try to hit your driver a bit more like your iron - still head, rotate the hips and keep your chest at the same angle compared to the ground throughout the entire backswing.

I should watch some of your videos before my last week's catastrophy - i was just so bad on first 6 holes (i am begginer but at the same course broke 100, 2 months after i started to play golf-had lots of practice and work with coach and i was obsessed, but it was my third round after winter )anywas, before round i went on a range, shanking with wedges, topping long irons whatnot..so i decided i will play with 7imax, but i hit 7 170ish on average, on first few holes and lets see.
But once i started i was not hitting any club- its very short 9 holes course with 5 180-240 yards par 3!!! So 10 on 18 holes weird course but i am from central Europe 😂... i shot 8 (3), 7(4), 7(3), 10+(4) didn't even count 5th hole and balooned tee shot on 6th just went home it went so badly into my head that i was like ( you will lose 20 golf balls when u finish 18th ).. but i am sure many of you feel what i am talking about 😂😂 if some people are throwing and breakimg their clubs, we all now "golf frustration"
And day after a watched few of your videos, i should go from lady tees, not mentally broke down after first hole Bogey5, take more time and breathe...if i watched your videos day before i would play 18 with bad svore but 100% much better if it didn't went under my skin..its the fact it was winter, but still i was with my coach, playing Pebble on simulator and shot 18+ a week beforeao my game was on point for begginer a week before.
90% of bad game came from my head at the moment when i shanked first 3 balls.

adam, I love your channel and you do havie a good short game, but i disagree with several of your premises and conclusions. You driver, fairway wood, and hybrid shots are pretty good. Your swing may be unorthodox, but I don't actually think it is all that bad. You still hit the ball farther than most amateur golfers (sure, this means 51%+, but it is worth keeping in mind that you're only short compared to young, strong low handicappers and beyond), and you generally strike the ball from a shallow approach with decent repeatability.
You manage the course exceedingly well: I mean this in every way (not just "avoiding hero shots"): you try to miss to the long or safe side, you think about misses and lines even in your short game and you have realistic expectations. sure, your shallow swing doesn't always lend itself to the best mid iron strikes, but you limit the damage there, too.
The reason it *seems* like your short game is keeping you a low handicapper is because your long game and course management keep the vast majority of strokes lost off the table . Those super high rounds that happen a few times a year (and which you have the courage and decency to share with us) occur on the rare occasion you start hitting your tee shots off the planet.

I am not a golf pro but maybe a little more upright swing with the driver might straighten out a bit.

If you believed your ball was solely in the hazard, then taking a provisional drop was illegal. It also doesn’t look like you took a straight line drop. So that birdie moves to a double+.

His upper body spine tilt disappears in his backswing. His shoulders are completely level at the end of his backswing. @5:57

i stopped your driver swing at the top and you have wild over swing. if you could tighten that up a bit it might help. what helps me is firming my grip hold on the club. good golfing to ya.

Sometimes reading the comments can bring out the haters for sure. But I hope this gets "pinned" so you can have some encouragement whenever you revisit this video.
Your medical story is an amazing testimony and I'm sure (unlike the commentors) that you're just happy to be alive and even playing golf at all. As someone who was given a 2% chance to live and had to overcome 5 reconstructive bowel surgeries as an infant (Hirschsprung's disease), I also understand the value of just being happy to wake up and see the sunshine ^_^
Keep making awesome videos, trusting the process, and getting better 1 day at a time! And let's be honest, you'd probably beat 70-80% of the commentors in a match anyway...the world average handicap is like 15-16 and your "bad round" is an 83? Shine on!

If people are commenting that you need to be hitting from the lower handicap tees need to understand something. Why would you move back decks until you lower your handicap from the tees that you’re playing from?? This type of thinking, from the comment section is what slows play down and as you stated, doesn’t make the game as much fun. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

do you ever bend your wrist back on drives/shots? Ik your swing is kinda your trademark but what happens if you try to bring the club up higher and cock you wrist back a bit? im sure youve tried it

At 6:20 your ball seems to disappear - you end up about 4 feet from the pin yet it appears you hit it rather heavy so would more than likely struggle to reach the green?
