Yeah, I was immediately suspicious of her when she admitted she had fallen/been pushed into the candle, as she had originally said he poured it on her, which is of course wildly different. Someone who had purposefully been shoved into a candle would've said that, rather than "it was poured on me".
His version of events was a lot more coherent and seemed less rehearsed too. Plus if she had really been attacked, you'd expect at least some evidence of tears, or ANY kind of emotion really

I made one mistake in my life in my early 20s and went to jail for 4 hours, and the officers were very nice. I don’t know why people don’t like law enforcement..

I think he just means the offence is possession of under 2 ounces, the least serious category (as opposed to some huge felony amount).
Of course, such an offence is becoming a thing of the past in the US. With Ohio now legalising, I think I read that over 50% of people in the US are now in legal states. Perhaps it won’t be long before it becomes surprising to see cops bothering with these small amounts (uploads of old “Cops” episodes notwithstanding).
Anything between .0001 and 2 ounces is one class of offense.

If I had to be arrested, I'd want it to be by the Portland police. They were so nice to the people they were arresting. No attitude and not taking what the crooks do or say personally.
