09/2019 I just purchased this firearm NIB and I have to say the trigger pull was really gritty and hard, it sounded like a 1970’s Clunker definitely wasn’t impressed but I purchased it anyway. The guy at the gun store put a few drops of oil and it seemed like it smoothed out just a little bit. At home I already had new trigger and hammer shims , and new Wilson Combat trigger and hammer springs, both #10’s , ( all parts where under $25 )so I got to work immediately. After taking the gun apart I used 1500 sandpaper and gently smoothen out any rough edges without taking off any metal of course, and also used some stainless steel polish, as I was putting everything back I applied some oil with a Q-tip. Now it feels much better and hopefully I can go to the range and I have no lite primer strikes . I understand that after paying $716 for a firearm you shouldn’t have to work on it , but I do enjoy working on my firearms , and also I did choose it over the $1000 plus Kimber K6. One last thing was your trigger the same way ?
Beautiful, I think your the first one to make a video on this version. I ordered it then changed my mind at last second to get the GP100 Wiley Clapp version but if i had held this one in my hand or seen this video before i might have taken the SP101. Anyways, good vid....
One writer called the new checkering on the hammer bob a "A bunch of mini pyramids" I think that's really great description. I have to agree; a pure black mat as a background vs the Bed Bath and Beyond dinner mat would be better. Love the gun though!
I own the Ruger SP101 3 inch barrel 6 shot 327 Federal magnum which has an upgraded white dot front sight and Hogue 81000 grips with finger grooves on it. I think the 3 inch barrel is the optimal length for a snubby with it's longer sight radius coupled with the 6 shot capacity which obviously is superior to your 5 shot SP101. The 327 Federal magnum is a quite powerful round if you ever decide to upgrade your SP101 to one like mine !!!!
I love my SP101, it's versatile, powerful, and, best of all you FEEL like you are carrying quite a gun because of the weight and stainless steel. Sounds like the fiber optic site is the way to go? Did you say you had a hard time finding them? Thanks for the video.
Looks beefy and sturdy! Very nice looking handgun. Have others in mind to collaborate same caliber with my Henry All Weather repeating Rifle chambered in. 357mag/.38spl. German: Ruger gp100 wiley clapp(ss) 3" barrel. Brasil: Taurus Tracker 627 (ss) 4"barrel. Really like both but I'm looking towards weight, pulling, and price.. dang it's up there for the Wiley clapp and the Tracker pretty reasonable..about 300 dollars difference. Nice video and thank you..nice gun bro. Blue Skeleton
I just got the same gun a week ago and I wonder if you've had the same issue I'm having. Every 20 or so shots it jams up on me and I have to nudge the cylinder back a little in order to continue firing. I'd be interested in knowing if you've experienced this same problem or not. Thanks.
Try a different kind of ammo. It sounds like whatever kind you have has too slow burning powder. The powder will collect under the star extractor and cause the rounds to gradually be pushed backwards, tight against the frame.
A 2 inch revolver is a quick reaction close range weapon. Therefore they are point and shoot close range weapons by design. A Fiber Optic sight is of little benefit. I have short barrel automatics with fiber optic sights and a Smith and Wesson revolver with a gold dot front sight. IMO the gold dot is brighter in daylight, and neither are useful at night. But in close range < 3 yards who cares.
Got mine in .327 two years ago. Can't find these much anymore. Sent mine to Gemini for some minor upgrades. Really like the revolver.
you're right that the sights are the selling point
That is one gorgeous revolver

Altamont makes those grips for Ruger in case you ever need replacements.
Looks like you got the radiused cylinder as well.
That's what I put on my GP100. The Altamount offers a textured rubber grip that I preferred over the smooth Rugers. Rattlesnake pattern I beileve.
Thanks great review and beautiful gun, I just got the same one can’t wait for it to arrive.
David Adiv what did i you pay ?
Carmelo Torres I got an awesome deal that $659:00 plus shipping it’s the same fun very cool I picked it up and looking forward to take it to the range

Beautiful revolver man. Those grips are sweet

Gonna buy this for myself this birthday.
Great Review...Gonna get me one of these real soon! Thanks ';-)
I recently bought a blued version it has the standard sights but has the same grip as the talo
Great video. Very informative, Thanks
Just a suggestion, you should think about changing your background on the desk to a solid dark color. Nice review.

good video. just picked mine up. got it for carry. know a good high ride holster. pancake style preferably. they're built like tank's. thank you.

i want this version too, but not as bad as the 3" 586 L-comp 7 shot performance center...
On my sp101 I just have the groove for the rear sight. Can I get an after market rear sight similar to what you have? Thanks.
Can you use moon clips with the 38 / 357 rounds in the SP 101
Underwood .38 Spl. +P, 158 gr., LSWC... highly recommended. Pushes 1,100 fps and 477 foot pounds.
Sweet revolver. .
Great video but a black mat would be much better. The checkered mat made it difficult to see the sight picture.
WOW; just noticed the hammer is skeletonized!

Ann Marie Bucchino nope never had any issues so far

Can you confirm for me if those Novak sites are steel or polymer
Hill Shepherd steel

Also, your audio sounds a lot better in this vid! New mic?
I think I just used my phone on this one. lol
Funny! Your voice is louder and clearer. Less ambient noise.
Closing the cylinder, then turning it by hand causes "turn lines". Also, it got real creepy watching you continually rub on that revolver.
👍🇺🇸
Ho Hum
Damn, try not repeat yourself so much
it gets really boring!
This is a point and shoot. Sights and looks doesn't matter. Save your money. Is not meant to hunt with. I paid $ 629.00. Bottom line. Great video..
