180SX in particular has more front weight bias than an 86's so the rear end is relatively light, so rear tires in particular have no grip so they're less sluggish to drive but also more often to skid. Couple that with an FR layout, front end is still pressed to the road so there's alot more rotation going on with FR even with a four wheel drift than it's more rearward counterparts. Besides, touge curves are relatively high in radius and corner entries have 0 emphasis on speed so you can go as much sideways or rotation as you want, just that corner exits to medium/long straights would be more unforgiving to oversteer because tires do best on straight lines when rolling and not skidding so it's good to keep in mind to minimize the skrrtt action on those parts angles are just overly exaggerated but I can probs do the same angle with minimal countersteer if I give the effort
the anime tends to be super inconsistent at times, for example: in the first stage, takumi managed to keep up with mako, which the 86 at the time had no more than 150hp, but heres the same sil80 outrunning an altezza by drifting completely sideways because logic.
@@destrudot it's just execution of the drift that really matters, more specifically a four wheel drift. Not all drifts are for being flashy and D1GP, this guy th-cam.com/video/0CXLAGiHHs4/w-d-xo.html literally four wheel drifts the high speed bends in Assetto and still set a record (his newest record here is a 4:39) besides, people improve, a racer that lost in the past outrunning another car isn't inconsistent
@@fujineetomori the guy drifts yeah, but hes not going 90 degrees into every corner, plus takumi being good driver is something known in the anime, but its not just driver skill, it could also depend on the car too. This was shown during the 4th stage, until 5th stage introduced a bs mechanic called fujiwara zone.
All the people complaining she couldn't win drifting like that, that assumes that the guys in the altezza were fast. I think the whole point is to show that they suck, they suck so bad that they cant beat someone drifting with way too much angle.
no its just the way the anime makes it look, its impossible or nearly impossible in real life. The way makos car drifts means its set up for that and not grip, which means it aint gonna be able to power through like that probably not atleast since its just a s13 not a rally car. Altezza tho looks to be more set up for grip style, it aint gonna be able to power thru like that aswell cuz theres always going to be road imperfections or jus lack of power in an nearly stock altezza to do that. Idk tho its just my knowledge so might not be right,
It incredible how initial d cgi animation makes cars drifting seems so fast, unfortunately drifting in that way at that speed is absolutely impossible, not to mention that it would loose immediately at the first corner, touge is about taking corners faster, and drifting is not always the smartest idea, in fact is the least one to make on a touge battle because is not faster
Initial D calls this out, grip is much faster but nearly all the drivers here drift cause its a general technique you can apply to any course. I think this was in 86 vs S2k.
You can watch it on gogoanime.com but be careful it's an unsecure site, you might get scams. You can watch every Initial D stage including both extra stages and even Wangan midnight. Except for battle stage 2, you can't find that one
The Altezza should have won because Mako was wasting her speed on styling through the corners. The Altezza was drifting at a much smaller angle, so that should have given him an upper hand, since the torque and power from his wheels was primarily being used to make the car move forward, with very little bit of lateral force in order to make the car turn rather than plow straight into the guardrail. However, Mako was drifting with much more angle, so her tires were working more on providing lateral force to the car. This should have reduced the car's forward momentum, making her fall behind.... But Initial D fifth stage doesn't follow the logic of basic physics(Or even the basic logic of how drivetrains work)(Takumi's fujiwara zone intensifies)
You're missing a big part of the equation which is entry speed. The Altezza guy is new to this course and anyone inherently enters corners slower when they don't know what's ahead. Mako is using her experience to enter every corner at maximum speed with confidence in where her line will start and end because she's done it hundreds of times before like Takumi with Akina. And she's styling on him because he said sexist comments before the race about women being worse drivers. She wants to show him that even with flashy drifting at extreme angles she's leagues ahead of them. Plus it looks cool.
Altezza drivers - Trying to keep their lead
Mako - Causally drifts in 90° angle on a corner
