    When I was a child I remember thinking the sound was that of an Owl...it is still my favorite bird call, simply for the link to the memories even when I hear them today. Then when I looked into it and discovered the spelling wasn't "morning" and the meaning, link to the rain, it just made perfect sense to me and loved it even more. I actually am going title a song "Mourning Dove."

    I saw a Mourning Dove sitting on my windowsill and I watched it make the call. It took 41 years of my life to see this after hearing them for my entire life.

    I absolutely love the sound mourning doves make. Not because it sounds like they are in mourning, that would be creepy, obviously. To me, it actually just sounds really peaceful for some reason😌

    Thank you so very much!! I am today years-old finding out the name of this bird. In the last year, I have tried googling on my phone. I do not know why today, I decided to look it up on the computer-lol. Funny, when I was younger, my dad taught my sibs and me how to make the sound in our hands.

    I still remember when I visited my mom one day. When I was waiting for the bus to go home, I looked by the bird feeder on the front lawn & saw 2 mourning doves. Unfortunately, so did a hawk. {He got one. I just have to remember they're animals, too. They have to eat, too. He probably knew of this bird feeder, & had been waiting for the opportunity to get an easy meal.}
