    It’s a pleasure to watch good work by an experienced and talented craftsman. Brian is an example but so are the people who made this video. The quality video sold me on your company as much as the carpet.

      By the way, I tested and found a way to seam the edging to connect sections..
      I used two clean cuts to dry fit them and then used seam stick 3/8 on both backside edges. I used 1" edging and then used a black PTFE thread to run a seam down both sides. Finally I used Locktite Seal and Stick clear adhesive to glue the edges. Its perfect. The black thread is lost in the pattern.. :)

    I think everything is great and I would actually do this to my boat now that I'm looking for the right material to replace my worn out snap-in carpet. But that foam does not look very strong to be perfectly honest. I wish it seemed like much stronger and more durable material. If it gets damaged by double-sided stick tape, it ain't going to last long on a non-skid surface like my boat and in salt water. Wish it was stronger backing material.

      You may want to consider using Infinity flooring, it has a PVC foam backing. Here is a link: www.sailrite.com/Fabrics/Marine-Fabric/Marine-Flooring/Brand/Infinity

    Why couldn’t you use the carpet that came out of the boat as a pattern for the new carpet for the boat

    • @tonycrawford7348
      @tonycrawford7348 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They did, the first time, that's why they had to do it over again. The original carpet wasn't right.

    What happens when you drop a treble hook on it? Time to take out the scissors?

    • @elmeradams8781
      @elmeradams8781 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, use wire cutters on the hook, then push it the rest of the way through. Then you only have 2 small holes (you can do that with people too).

    very nice. i'd definitely do snap on woven flooring on my boat if i had a FREAKING BINDER. unfortunately 99% of us don't. how well does this flooring work wrapped around a plywood floor? does the backing float water to the sides and off of the wood?

    • @jjzinn3427

      you can buy binder at any fabric store, joanne fabrics, walmart... very cheap.

    Really interested in the item, but have a question before I purchase. The floor now is unfinished fiberglass under a stinky, glued down carpet. Do you sell a product to paint the fiberglass floor so the seams between the woven fabric don't look bad ?

      Sorry, we do not sell paint product for fiberglass. You may want to check out this website: www.jamestowndistributors.com

    There is no way you only used 2 yard's! I have the exact same boat and I ordered the same amount of material you used. I layed all my templates out onto the material before cutting and there is no way. The edges of the 72 inch wide material isn't finished all the way to the edges. 2 inches both sides so a lose of 4 inches! Very disappointing since I I have waited for a month for it to arrive.

    very nice stuff but very expensive

  • @thedragonfarm
    @thedragonfarm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Nice but this is so not practical I dont see myself buying a upholstery machine and all these odd end tools to make this plus that foam will fall apart in no time waist of money to me and idk what this cost but I bet its expensive

    • @gomigman5936
      @gomigman5936 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, agree. Everything seemed good with the woven stuff on top but once you look at that foam and how it gets easily damaged by double sided tape, that tells me it ain't going to last on a boat in salt water at all. Stuff seems a bit weak IMO. All those tools aren't so bad, I have most of them except that damn sowing machine LOL!

    Can I use a regular sewing machine?

    • @elmeradams8781
      @elmeradams8781 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try, but the stitches won't be even (walking foot machines pull from the top and bottom), and it will tear up your machine (they aren't built to handle tough fabrics).
      At $150 and up per yard, I'd use a proper machine.

  • @Burritosarebetterthantacos
    @Burritosarebetterthantacos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If you can afford the time and money to get the tools and material to do this you can afford to pay someone else to do it.

    • @elmeradams8781
      @elmeradams8781 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But then you didn't do it yourself. 😀.
      Also, around here upholstery shops are months out. The ones that aren't, the careful diyer will do a way better job.
