      Why weren't Kix more popular with hard rock fans? Great riffs and hooks, catchy as hell, with Steve's stellar vocals! Should've been bigger than they were - and they crush it, live! People who've seen Kix always comment about how good they are live!

      @@BrendonSnyder you're probably right Brendon, I think I just went for my favourite 5 hard rock releases! I'm not sure if glam metal is an actual sound? It always appeared to be more of a look and style. I mean to my ears Winger always sounded like a melodic hard rock band and Cinderella a blues based rock band. Great show anyway and keep up the good work 👍

    L.A. Guns also had Steve Reilly on drums. He left W.A.S.P. to join the band. I ditched the last couple of hours at school to go to an in-store and meet L.A. Guns.

    Long Cold Winter is awesome. High quality music, well written and this was Cinderella at their finest. Great back up to Night Songs. Most UNDERRATED band of the era. Poison's Open Up and Say Ahh..... album cover here in Australia never had a censored version, I was surprised about that when I heard about it years ago. Nothin' But A Good Time, Fallen Angel and Every Rose are great songs. What an era!!!

    Nice collection and on the top very nice and vivid presentation, how about you showcase bands/artists Label wise like you did Rockcandy & Wounded birds ones, I can suggest you perhaps labels like Scotti brothers, Pakaderm records, they were pioneers in bringing out excellent AOR bands back in time. Keep the good work up....Cheers from India 🤘🏼🤘🏼

      @BrendonSnyder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bidyut! I plan to do more CD Collection videos based on other labels. But there has to be something that connects it all together. Both Rock Candy and Wounded Bird are reissue labels and so the albums are collectible and have a following waiting to see what the label releases. I’ve got other reissue labels I’ll do at some point too. I may do one on a label like FNA Records that focuses on glam metal artists releasing demos and unreleased albums.

    Great post. 87 was an awesome year with Hysteria, Appetite, Back for the Attack, Whitesnake, etc. but 88 was also a great year for releases. KIX Blow My Fuse - especially the Fuse 30 Reblown - was one of my fav of that year. 👍. And Bulletboys was my first CD I ever bought so I could get it signed and meet the band at Cats Records in Memphis the day of the concert. But my fave was Cinderella’s LCW and still find myself listening to it start to finish. That shift to bluesy rock was a welcome change that I was blown away from.
    BTW - did you know that Poison’s Flesh and Blood album was also censored and they reissued? Crazy.

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and I own the original with the fresh tattoo dripping blood from back in the day. Also Open Up And Say...Ahh! was supposed to be called Swallow This...but it was later used for the live album. Lots of cool history for these guys. On a side note both 1986 and 1987 will eventually get countdowns as well.

  • @davidhackney8162
    @davidhackney8162 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great list and info provided. 1988 was definitely a great year for glam metal and to be coming of age in the middle of it. I saw all of your top 5 bands in about a single year's time while I was in middle school. Britny Fox was opening for Poison; then Bulletboys and Winger were touring with Cinderella. I noticed you have both the Rock Candy remaster of Kix's "Blow My Fuse" and the 30th anniversary Beau Hill remix/remaster "Fuse 30 - Reblown". Which do you prefer for sound quality? I just purchased the Rock Candy version last week as I have really liked the two dozen or so Rock Candy remasters I've picked up so far. I took a listed to the Reblown remix via streaming, and although the clarity of all instruments was great and solid, the hi-hat cymbals seem really heavy in the mix, giving it almost a hiss or brittle sound that my ear just couldn't get past. It could just be my aging ears are getting finicky or the streaming aspect causing it to stand out. Just curious if you had an opinion on the two remasters.

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hummmm....I’ve always thought there is a big difference in sound between streaming and CD. I have Apple Music and stream when I’m out or at work. But I still prefer CD’s so when I’m home I listen to the CD and there are times I’m amazed at how better it sounds on CD then when I streamed it. I use Bose over ear headphones with noise cancelling so they’re high quality when streaming too. In regards to the difference in the two Kix albums, I thought the RC reissue was flat with more life to the remix. I don’t have a review for Re-Blown but I did one for Re-Lit if you’re interested, see link th-cam.com/video/zMjVhFkRwvA/w-d-xo.html

    • @davidhackney8162
      @davidhackney8162 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrendonSnyder Thanks for the feedback. Watched the Re-Lit review... great review as always. I prefer CDs as well... ripping to to WAV and then encoding to FLAC and 320 MP3 for a variety of player options (car, home, gym, work, etc.). As you mentioned, the price point for the remix albums is pretty steep at $35+s/h. Amazon has the Re-Lit download for $8.99 and the Reblown download for $11.49. Although I would prefer CD... I may end up going this route to save some cash.

    Hello, I'm also a big fan of glam metal and I just love most of the bands, which you discuss about in your videos. And I also like the debut album by Winger, - almost every song on it but I heard that in the 80's they weren't considered as a great band and someone said that people even hated them as people hate band Nickelback today... I'm wondering, is that really true?

      No in the late 80’s Winger was considered as good as Warrant and Slaughter. Sure they had their haters as any band always does. But they were loved by millions. I went to their concerts selling out 10,000 seat arenas as the head lines with Extreme opening.

    Perfect list. What a great idea to do best glam 1988 1989 1990 😃😃If you lived the era, there were no bigger 5 albums than these. Winger and Bullet boys certainly earned their right to be on this list during that year. These bands also toured together ALOT in these years. I can remember seeing all 5 with either 2/3 or 3/3 on the same tour.also, 1988 was the year that many of us switched over from cassette to CD (especially in our cars) and the sound quality was such a huge jump...I can understand why New Jersey was not included.....but you could argue that in 1988, they were definitely still “hair” and you are correct...this was not “ hair metal “ that term came later when Sirius and XM called their channel “Hair nation”

Queensryche "Operation: Mindcrime" is definitely number one for me but some people may not classify that as "glam metal". I'd personally have Kix in the top five. I was again a great list. I like to to see Poison at the top. But I would list some not US bands:
    Scorpions - Savage Amusement (maybe not really glam)
    TinDRUM - Drums Of War
    Tattooed Love Boys - Bleeding Hearts And Needle Marks
    Zodiac Mindwarp - Tattooed Beat Messiah
    And my No1:
    Fate - Cruisin' for a Bruisin'

      While Bon Jovi certainly helped start the scene and gave rise to it, I never say that as Glam Metal (or a hair band). Maybe it was just how big they were that they out grew the title. But that’s why I didn’t include New Jersey in the Top 5. But I put it in the background to honor it.

      IDK if I’d consider either one underrated. Both were very big during the original era and have maintained quite a big following since. With Cinderella, I think they could have held onto more success like Poison did if they had toured more regularly and put out new material. Since their last album was 1994, there is nothing to keep them in the public eye. But I’m glad Tom Keifer is out there touring solo waving the flag.

    Long Cold Winter by Cinderella could also have appeared in 1978 . It sounds classic.If i didn't know exactly now and I'm listening to the album first time i couldn't name the release date. It's rockin' well with many Blues stuff. In the seventies i had said what an excellent classic rock album with modern sounding.
