The locations they use to film in these are so simultaneously cool and creepy, but man, that claustrophobic cave takes the cake! Brave individuals walking through those places
HOLY COW you guys.... great news.... Flying you two out to see part 4 is amazing!! This Horror In The High Desert series is fantastic.... Thanks to both of you for your found footage reviews.... I love the slow reveal, Lake Mungo types a lot....
I think part 1 had the most focused mockumentary style, then part two was more in your face ( my favorite), part 3 shows so much skill in building tension. You watch part one and two and three makes you anxious from just that and the excellent locations and sounds.

Ps i love how you cop with each other in youre presentation.. Flipping awesome. Cheers🍻
I find myself enjoying this series more and more as it goes on, although part 2 felt lacking but I was still willing to withhold full judgment until part 3 came out to see where the story goes. High Desert is almost like a tv series that's going to have its slower episodes that only become important when future installments are released, and then you realize just how important those slower ones were. So it's good to see everything coming together in the way that it is. I don't feel like sifting through the first movie to see if the footage of Gary's train whistle is in it, but if it is, bravo to Dutch for knowing exactly where he was going and planting the seeds for a future revelation. Have either of you watched the TH-cam series Greylock? It's an analog horror series (which, like found footage, if you don't like the style not even the best example of it is going to change your mind) and High Desert 3 reminds me of it. It's really well done, very creepy at times, and the way it drops clues along the way as to what's going on makes multiple viewings almost imperative. The ending of the latest installment (tape 12) left me with my jaw on the floor seven months ago and I've been impatiently waiting for the next one ever since.
I enjoyed this sequel. It’s not as flashy as the previous installment, BUT it is building something, which is needed. I adore this series and its “less is more” approach.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 I’ve watched it, and enjoyed it, but I want a bit more info about the mystery of who/what the creatures are. Not a full explanation, but just something to hint at….unless I missed something? 🤷🏻♂️
Just watched it tonight, the last 20.mimutes was so unnerving...... Did anyone try to pause the bit where you see the thing thats after him ? I did but the screen shot didnt work 😢
Part 2 (Minerva) shows all of the Lore (paintings, the VHS footage, ect) about ancient beings taking the form of Trees as camouflage... In the other movies we only see them as zombie-like beings due to it being Night Vision footage... Part 1 not so much, but Minerva starts building this Lore..
I love found footage and I absolutely loved Horror in the High Desert 3!! Thank you for this review! This movie had my heart pounding many, many times! 😊
I just watched this. I absolutely agree with everything you said. The reveal was totally unexpected, and I really liked it. Im so happy you guys do found footage because its my favorite genre. Thanks.
I'm such a massive fan of these films now. I never feel real fear watching horror films, and I watch multiple a week (and have for years). Minerva horrified me. I also don't usually like found footage, so this film was just lightning in a bottle for my personal taste, Minerva specifically is my favourite found footage ever now. I checked every week for its release, and although in Canada I still don't have an opportunity to rent it, I will be the moment its available to me! I'm excited to find more creators to watch, such as yourself, because of this niche franchise. What you guys said about the characters feeling so real, is very true! I teared up in Minerva, while shaking, as the mother was screaming on the side of the road. I think there is something to be said about how well that film dug into deep seeded fears of being a woman alone, whether in the middle of nowhere, a small town of strangers, or even in a home/trailer with the doors locked. Impressive that Dutch could portray that so perfectly with his writing and casting choices.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 I have a lot of respect for the guy, it takes a lot to scare me. Whenever he finishes with this franchise, it’ll be so exciting to see what else he does with his career. Thanks for sharing my comment with him. He deserves all of the praise.
I love the first 2 films. Big found footage guy. Was anticipating this film with extreme excitement... But unfortunately I was a little disappointed. Seemed to be a filler. I know there's going to be 2 more films but this just didn't have the same punch .Something lacked. Maybe because there wasn't a body count. But I think also it's going more and more towards the way of zombies, skinwalkers, or of the supernatural, rather than a serial killer or mass murderer roaming the high desert, which is my personal preference. It's still a decent watch? But it didn't hit the mark for me like the 1st 2 films did.
It’s my own private group that I do. Other than that, I basically don’t touch Facebook. I’ve been running that group for 10 years and I’ve never had an issue because I selected every person in the group.
As someone who worked out in central Nevada for 3 years, I loved the idea of making a movie about how desolate it really is out there. Slight spoilers. Didn’t love the first one at all. Second was a little better. This one was just like the first, small stories branching off a main story that just dead end and a small payoff at the end that really doesn’t tell you much more of what’s happening. But the reveal at the end was pretty strange and creepy, it makes me want to watch through the movie again and see if there was any plant life following or appearing in the backgrounds. The only thing keeping me coming back is the central Nevada aspect and the story isn’t bad, I just feel like there’s a lot of fluff surrounding a main story line that is barely moving.
Oh man I’m about to watch this. I love the first 2 movies. I’m glad the 4th one is already made. I know what Facebook page you’re talking about. I found out they created a new page for whatever reason.
This one was cool. Probably the weakest out of the three for me but still interesting. The second one is still the scariest to me. That one really freaked me out. Lol.
Minerva (Part 2) explains the Lore and the ending of Firewatch, pay attention to the paintings and creepy VHS scenes in Minerva, and that shows the beings adopting the form of Trees ... They take Tree form in daylight as camouflage (same with flashlights and Oscar's camera flash)... All of the times we saw them as zombie-like figures were in Night Vision camera footage... (Although the person may be able to see them with their own eyes differently, like the dude on the motorcycle)
I was looking for more HITHD 3 reviews (one of my favorite FF franchises). There's literally none (apart from you guys and one channel that did it 2 months ago). So weird... People are missing out by not watching Found Footage genre.
the second one was my least favorite but if folks pay attention if gives the most information in my opinion so far. lol and agree with the ending somewhat but but if people listen to oscar's statement from the reporter it somewhat gives credit I guess????
Sorry guys but this one just didn't do it for me, i loved the first two but i felt a bit let down by this one. Great location's and cinematography though and im still really excited about the 4th installment.
I was really disappointed by this movie, unfortunately. Loved the cinematography, and it enjoyed the atmosphere, but overall was sad I didn’t enjoy it as I had anticipated
