Great coach, great motivational speaker……but sadly as a neighbor in the early 1990s I witnessed personally someone who did not practice what he preaches. Watched his honking impatiently at a dry cleaner in Boulder year after he resigned as CU coach. He was very irritated at the two cars in front of him. I was in my car right behind him and watched this awful behavior as he kept honking and yelling, “Hurry up, what’s the matter up there?” When it was my turn to get to the check out window, I asked the clerk how his day was going. He happened to be gay. He said, “It was going great until Bill McCartney. That man has never been nice to me.. He’s no Christian. “ I could see the hurt in his eyes. 😮As a neighbor, I would see Coach Mac at his son’s football games (Fairview High School)….I would wave to Bill just five rows over from me at a mostly empty stadium…..He never once came over to say hello, make small talk, etc…..just stayed in his comfort zone by himself to watch the game. 😮I watched him walk out of the Vineyard Church every Sunday immediately after the service ended and never speak to one soul….just headed for the exit door. Where is the Christian love in this man? It’s all talk, sadly. One of the biggest hypocrites in Christianity. One of my biggest disappointments in life was realizing this man I thought was a Saint, was worse that most non Christians when it came to showing love to others.

I never expect anything out of so-called men of God anymore, 9 times out of 10 they disappoint. And a lot
of them are entitled, judgmental jerks. I went to a mega church in San Antonio. The pastor was always spot on in his sermons, never bored me, but he’s not a good person. Summit Christian Center in San Antonio.
I’m not surprised at Bill McCartney treating a gay man like that, he hates gays enough as it is, not just because what the Bible says, but his own personal feelings.

Let he that is without sin cast the first stone. (Words of Jesus)
We are wasting our time looking at others for evidence that Jesus is indeed real. In fact, if we as mere men could live a sin free life, which none of us can, then we wouldn’t need Jesus. Since we cannot, we desperately need Jesus, ALL of us do. We were born in sin, therefore the virgin birth of Jesus can cover us for ALL who believe, but it is of no help for those that do not believe. We aren’t asked to believe in each other, we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of Almighty God!
