- The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, is holding public hearings from 19 to 26 February 2024 on the request for an advisory opinion regarding the Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. These hearings are taking place at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court, under the presidency of Judge Nawaf Salam, President of the Court. In this session, we heard from United Kingdom, Slovenia, Sudan, Switzerland, Syria, and Tunisia.
UK just maybe a week ago the UN Ambassador for the UK 'Abstained'. How can UK even show their faces at the ICJ?
The UK is basically arguing that the court should forget about all their previous rulings and assume that law started here. Did no one teach them in law school about the legal doctrine that is Stare Decisis.
UK is ridicules.
Not showing up to court (Israel) doesn’t negate the fact that the allegations are not present. A judgment will be made based on the facts presented.

Yet it were the United Nations who gave Israel a state and not the Palestinians. Not only that but how is the United Nations disciplined when it has been overrun by Iran, Russia, North Korea, China and Islamic nations?

Clearly UK doesn’t want the ICJ to help in the solution to the conflict, just to leave it to the parties, where one is atomic power and the other is occupied.
The suggestion that Israel is working towards a two-state solution is pretty absurd. That has been only a carrot dangled in front of Palestinians and the world, to be snatched away every time, for decades, while more and more land is annexed. There's no willingness to ever accept it in Israel.
Britain's submission is shameful, especially in light of their historical responsibility for the plight of the Palestinians. If their arguments were applied more broadly, not only would there be no role for the ICJ at all in the world, but the same would go for the General Assembly as well

Im no expert but it seems like the only solutuon is a "one state" solution where god fearing people live together in harmony with mutual respect. Seems like they either figure this out or live in perpetual violence. That living in harmony is considered by many to be like moving a mountain in this situation, and perpetual violence is consider to be easy-peasy, totally possible, is part of the problem. Should be the other way around. The former involves people exercising patience, understanding, and assertiveness instead of aggressiveness the later involves peoples lives unnessasarily cut short. Weigh it up and ask yourself why these people can live together in los angeles without violence but cant do so in "the holy land".
