The palace at Dam Square was originally built as Amsterdam's new city hall around the middle of the 17th century (when the country was a republic). At the time, it was the biggest non-religeous building in Europe. It only became a royal palace around the late 1790s when Napoleon Bonaparte installed his brother Louis Bonaparte as king of the Kingdom of Holland (which only lasted for about 2 decades).

Loved this vlog! I am going over to Europe in July with three friends - would you recommend us going to Amsterdam? We are going to Europe to party and are ending our trip in Amsterdam. Just wondering if you think it is worth us visiting Amsterdam? Even if there are no clubs there, are there bars (and dancefloors haha)? xx
I’ve been to quite a few cities in Europe now and i loved amsterdam so so much! I don’t drink alcohol so the party scene isn’t something we explored so i can’t comment on that!! But museums, food, beauty is all there🥰🥰🥰🤍
