  • George Murphy sings his original song “Hands Of Time” live from The Stable Sessions.
Singer songwriter George Murphy taking strong Irish folk hints with accompanying tin whistle and fiddle in a simple tune celebrating life and relating his trepidations of the future and passing time.
"The most personal song I've written. An attempt to sum up my whole life with one short song. Life's not that simple but I tried simplifying regardless. I wanted to cover all bases. Where I am now, where I've come from and where I'm going and the fact that regardless of once upon a time being a child, now having a child and all the things that go between and are yet come there is one thing that's constantly moving forward and that's time. Try not to dwell on it because like the great John Lennon says “life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”

    Lyrics:
    I've lived in other countries
and I find myself back home
    Built up many friendships
    and I've found myself alone
The one thing that I know
    In your life you'll find
    There's nothing you can do
to turn back the hands of time
    Doesn't seem like long ago
I was playing in the park
    Kicking ball and meeting girls
    Staying out til dark
    10 years goes so fast
    It really blows my mind
And there's nothing you can do
to turn back the hands of time
    Chorus
    The hands of ti - i - i -ime
the hands of time, the hands of time
Now I've a little girl of my own,
I take her playing in the park.
Pretty soon she'll go there alone
    and stay out until dark.
I'll just have to listen to
    "Daddy ill be fine"
    It's only now I know
The weight on a fathers mind
    Chorus X 2
