You’ve just explored the lore of this game in a quick, effective and simple manner. Quite the impressive feat; not even the devs could accomplish.
In all seriousness, this video was great, keep up the good work

Thanks for the nice explanation of the story, I started playing the game not knowing how much homework you are expected to do for it to make sense and by the time I reached chapter 5 I was utterly confused trying to figure out what was going on :) now things are a lot clearer!

Watching this video because I forgot about the story after finishing it in 2021 man I fall in love with this game seriously from the world eos to the stunningly beautiful graphics, soundtracks, story and characters (ignis is my love btw) everything about this game is so great imo maybe it's the setting I love too much the mix of present and fantasy is so perfectly blended into this game and this was my first final fantasy game and became my favorite game but knowing the true ambition of this game through out of bound glitches videos and cut contents, dlc became a novel, story told through several media but not in game, open world can't be explored seamlessly like I wanted to explore every bit of insomnia, niflheim and tenebrae but we can't makes me feel sad about this game and I wish maybe one day when they will remake this gem of a game they will consider the true ambition of Final Fantasy XV.

Thank you for this story review! :) Perfectly spoilerless and intriguing. I love the setting of this game, it feels so fantasy-based, and yet the technology side gives it such a beautiful and unique aesthetic. It definitely sold the game for me, alongside the Kingdsglaive movie :D

Awesome video! Gm it’s true that you don’t HAVE to watch kingsglaive and the animated episodes as well as playing the dlc episodes also to play and get the main story of the game but I honestly felt that before I had done the prior ones, I really only had gotten the gist of the story. AFTER I played the 4 extra episodes and watched kingsglaive and the 4 animated episodes, I understood it. And this video just makes it all seamlessly come together. Good job!

The fact that gamora was supposed to be in the base game but lore has it that bahamut killed her & erased her existence yet with the ffxiv collab she returns. It would’ve been cool if they added on to her return & having bahamut be in shock

Question. In Dawn of the Future (from what I have researched), its states that during the Great War, Bahamut wanted to cleanse the world of Eos of humans but the other Astrals (besides Ifrits presumably) stoped him. Is this a retcon of what was already established for the Great War. Why did Bahamut wanted to kill all humans?

    • @CrispOwl
      @CrispOwl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It's a good question, and after spending a couple of hours on looking this up as well, I think I fell into the rabbit hole of researching FFXV lore again when I shouldn't be hahaha!
Your question is definitely 'post-story' because all the branches (and holy cow, all the branches) have to be pieced together to come up with a working theory - because if we've learnt anything about FFXV, is that the story lends itself to doing research haha. Idk how many times I've re-written this post to keep it as short as I can without doing a whole video on it, because I tell ya, to explain my very unpolished theory in a few sentences is damn hard haha!
      ||| And watch out gang, there are spoilers here. |||
So your question: Why does Bahamut want to kill all humans?
Really low IQ answer/theory: I think Bahamut has always wanted to reset Eos after the Great War. Call it the old 'Noah's Ark and the Flood' scenario, when you become so upset/disillusioned with the world, hit the 'reset switch' (teraflare) and the world eventually will reset again and a new era of humans will rise from it and possibly be not as corrupt. Because it didn't destroy Bahamut in the first place, he comes back and tries again haha.
Yes, Bahamut is supposedly benevolent, but even benevolent characters can have a very neutral alignment (considering he picks and chooses which humans/bloodline he likes and which he doesn't [eg. Somnus vs Ardyn]) DOTF was another excuse to push him towards the reset switch, despite having vassals of his will present in the world - because they rebelled against the 'fate that was laid out for them to follow by Bahamut'.
Canonically, I reckon Bahamut has had a finger over the reset switch the whole time through FFXV and just waited to see what happened, but because the 'True King' followed his plans (and Kingsglaives only lived because of Bahamut - waiting for the return of Noctis) then his benevolent intervention was carried out in a human rather than him taking control (like in DOTF)
Q: Did it retcon the events of the Great War?
I don't think it did. If we treat the information as we have it now as 'loosely canon' then maybe its just one of those things that was 'omitted' in the cosmogny to make it seem like Ifrit was the only bad one in the Great War. (idk who the supposed author of the Cosmogny was in FFXV? Could it have been Bahamut or someone similarly connected? I haven't looked it up.) which would in a weird way would be a more justifiable reason for the Astral's slumber, not because of Ifrit (because it was just Bahamut that took him down) - but because of Bahamut's disillusioned feelings with the world and using Teraflare (which was halted by the other Astrals, but still caused mass destruction across Eos in the process) and sent him away for a millenia and the Astrals to sleep.
From a DLC standpoint because of how we're consuming the content: the writer saw a possible expansion on the pre-lore, added some sneaky info in so the story can make sense.
      ---
So yeah, that's my thoughts on it - its not enough to go on without diving really deep into it, but for the most part I hope my theory made a little bit of sense?

      @@CrispOwl Objection. :)
Bahamut in FF15 is not really a nice god. He is all but never seen during the main story and, as told in DotF in Lunafreya's story, even she knows almost nothing about him. Only Gentiana carefully revealed some bits of information to Lunafreya about him: He stands apart from the rest of the Hexatheon, and that he tried to destroy the world because he is so distant from humans that he treats them like plants suffering from some sort of sickness, and he is prone to remove all of them to remove that sickness with no care for human lives. However both humans and the rest of the Gods are powerless to make Bahamut to change his mind.
Furthermore, the origin of the Starscourge is never explained during the story, not even in the book. For some reason Bahamut has the ability to use the Scourge and to bestow the power of the Scourge to his favourite humans (like Ardyn). Niflheim scientists discovered the Scourge is very strong source of power and does not hesitate to use it for its imperialism and to counter the Lucian magic. My theory is, even Bahamut uses the Scourge as a source of energy so it was him who implanted it in the world. Furthermore there is the Pitios cavern with some gigantic petrified being (like some sort of Goddess?) buried within its deepest depths. Who is she anyway? And why, with Bahamut at helm, the ratio of sexes in Hexatheon is disbalanced 4 men to 2 women? The answer might be that Bahamut may not be the original member of the Six.
Given the fact he is able to use the Scourge to empower the Teraflare, I believe he is able to extract all the energy it contains to boost his own strength. Who knows how many times he did that already before the fall of Solheim or befor Ardyn's tragedy 2000 years ago. However he miscalculated. The one who was meant to become another bearer of the concentrated Scourge as the King, became unexpectedly the Crystal's Champion (the Crystal is the only and ultimate self-defense of Eos itself capable of destroying the Scourge for good - the illness that infects the very planet). Call it the planet's immunity system. If this immunity system is disturbed, it does not work. And Bahamut has the ability to clone himself inside the Crystal, so that he is able to exist twice. Inside the Crystal in the World beyond, and in the real world. This is to halt the Crystal's purpose to release the worldwide Holy magic destroying all the Scourge and the Daemons. So when dying and betrayed Ardyn, with dying Aera in his arms, touched the Crystal to desperately seek the answer "Who is the King?", the Crystal at the same time desperately cloned Ardyn into itself, preseving his life, making him immortal so that not even Bahamut can destroy him conventionaly, and to enable him to finish his promise he declared to Aera under that big tree in the middle of the grain field. Now the only means to destroy Ardyn was the power of Providence Noctis is supposed to use from fully powered Ring in the beyond to remove Ardyn from the Crystal. Actually, this same power can be used to destroy Bahamut as well. Therefore all the things like Cosmogony and obfuscation of ancient lore were to prevent the Kings of Lucis to ever discover the truth (part of it was Ardyn's imprisonment at Angelgard and his subsequent removal from all the history books).
So after the failed crowning of Ardyn, Bahamut had to improvize. As long as Ardyn lives he himself is at risk to be exposed. Not even Gods can hope to destroy him. But the humans can now. Actually, the reality of the pride of Solheim may not come from the feature of humans who tend to be selfish, but they were so advanced they might have discovered the truth about the Scourge and Bahamut's manipulation by themselves. If you look closely, Solheim was originally Ifrit's project. His benevolence towards humans may not be pure love, but it might be sneaky assertiveness: to use Solheimians as a secret weapon to destroy Bahamut. But the humans revealed all the truths by themselves (and maybe prematurely) so very fast they introduced ancient and very dangerous machinery to fight Gods: aka Omega. And Ifrit was forced to retaliate. He might have really been pissed on Solheimians, but if we look closely on his skin at the Verstael Besithia's Magitec research facility, there are spots proving he already was infected with the Scourge. But the long-long sleep helped him to break his mind free from it (he is god after all). Now Ardyn reinfected him again and gained control over him. When he got infected the first time? I believe it was at the start of the old Astral Wars. With his mind totally clouded by the Scourge he started to attack Solheimians indiscriminately (presumably controled by some other man, or Bahamut himself?), prompting the other Gods to directly interfere and stop him. In this chaos it all ended with Bahamut firing the Teraflare (and I like the idea Solheimians fired on him using Omega, but as he exists twice, his body regenerated shortly after that, and he became pissed enough to do that, but other four Gods prevented it as Teraflare would turn all the Eos to cosmic dust otherwise). And the rest is history, and in my opinion, to cover the worst crime in the realm of Gods.
Too long now. I hope my point of view on Eos' history is understandable.

6 Astral gods from the Origins were formed from their image. Interesting note to make as we only get 2 names Titian and Ifrit . But the plague is cast by someone could there be an Astral God that did not like one bit the creation of these 6 chosen blessed children? If so; could the destruction war plague mental anguish and the Astral Virus plague that is traveling under many names through what is the original universe that is Final Fantasy's existence location be Ultimacies? as her origins are unknown she could have been an Anti-Astral-Eos God. or became that as she would have viewed the creation of these 6 children as abominations and viewed the Father of Regis as the one responsible for this as she sees it destruction of paradise. Because the Astral Plague coincides with the creation of Insomnia by the first king of Lucia who starts the Lucian Royal Bloodline with his son Regis. All the warring and Plague coincides with Ardyn's entombment as there is rise of Regis to King. It's like there could have been a god or goddess not happy with all of this who could have secretly created this virus to rise silently and create her own answer to rise of Lucia and its favor by all the other Astral Gods. She being Ultimacies?

Tabata ruined what this game should have been. Nearly everything from the announcement trailer of FFXV, nevermind what was in Versus XIII was done away with. Further, why the fuck was DAWN not included in the game in some context? It gives so much explanation, background and connection between Regis and Noctis. Just disgusting the product that was delivered, which despite still loving just makes me angry when I think of what Final Fantasy XV should have been.
