Here we go again with foolish Canadians believing it’s cheaper to live in America. The average house price in Florida is nearly $600,000. USD convert that money from Canadian to USD because you have to convert your money no better what anybody says because when you leave Canada and exchange your money to American You have less and you may find yourself in a state that has no state income tax but you will pay at least 40% in federal income tax and believe me the state will get their money from you one way or the other either through water, tax electricity, tax, property tax, and let’s get something straight. If you go down there, the cost of healthcare, dental care and glasses is astronomical And you may get healthcare through your company and you may think that’s great but you still have to pay out of your check every two weeks and then you’re on a co-pay which is 8020, 70,30 split and if you don’t understand what that means you better look up the American healthcare system and the insurance And if you don’t believe what I’m saying I live there for eight years now certain things may be a little cheaper but the moment you get sick or get ill or get a crying illness you’ll be moving back to Canada faster than speedy Gonzalez don’t get me wrong Canada sucks but so does United States of America And if you don’t buy a gun and you’re not going to buy a gun don’t move to America because you could send your kids to school and they could be dead before you know it. Kids have to go through metal detectors and all schools now all these school shootings have Spond whole new billion dollar business of school security your brain dead your stupid you’re not thinking , I didn’t think when I went down there I didn’t think when I came back to Canada don’t do what I did now the biggest part of the reason I came back to Canada was a divorce and unfortunately happened right at the time of Covid so I got stuck back here lost my right to go back to America Not for any illegal reasons simply the fact that if you leave the country for a year on a green card, you cannot return to America. Let’s get something else straight without a visa either a spousal visa, some sort of working visa. You are not moving to the United States of America to live and work it is not possible , good luck

My husband is German so we are moving there. Because me and the kids speak German and they are all citizens, it was a no brainer. Similar politics but way better weather and much more centralized. Way better and affordable education and health care. The kids won't be going to school with fentanyl addicts who wear pjamas to class. They will have far more opportunity. One of the major reasons too is the family-work balance. Canada is a work slave bank slave country. In Germany you get at least 6 weeks paid vacation and with good transportation options, the travel options are vast. Here in BC you drive for 8 hours and all you see is town after town of junkies, fast food joints, crumbling infrastructure and woke flags. Even in Berlin there is way, way less woke. Another reason is the complete lack of culture and traditions outside of Quebec. Its empty.

CRA are a bunch of clowns! Did the same thing to me regarding moving expenses. They also claimed they mailed me letters which was a blatant lie, provided contradictory information, and I fought with them for 18 months although never fully resolved (MLA had to be brought in). They also gave me a 1-888- number that never worked and literally called thousands of times .On the regular line I spoke with them approximately 100 times as well. Fortunately , i saved almost every receipt and it cost them $2k more for hassling me.
In my opinion, CRA is so useless the entire department should be fired and replaced by new grad scabs... it couldn't be any worse. When they were striking this is what I had hoped for.

I left Quebec 2years ago and moved to Italy. After Covid, the value of my house tripled and because of non existant health care, as a senior, I saw that last year, 18,000 Canadiens ended their lives with doctor assisted suicide. Most living people don’t have a doctor in Canada. But the Government made damn sure to help get rid of seniors who had medical issues and had payed their entire lives into tax system. Most of these could have been helped if basic medical care was available. When you can’t find a doctor to renew your prescriptions, most walk-in clinics closed, waiting for specialist -at least six months, waiting for operation - a year unless you die first. Imagine the despair of many seniors who don’t know how to navigate the Internet very well, they are the first casualties of the Trudeau regime. History has often said that you can judge a society by how it treats its most vulnerable. Now we know!

We moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia. But we’ve moved back. The maritime are crazy expensive to live in - food, gas, rent, everything. Provincial taxes are very high and healthcare is low. Ontario is actually cheaper and more reliable. Just stay away from cities. If you want cheap housing, move to Quebec, but be prepared for insane governments one after another. Moving to the United States is out of the question - it’s almost a failed state and could erupt in catastrophic violence at any time.

Home Prices - What a bunch of bullshit. It's greed more than inflation, supply or transport.
And you know something, nobody but me mentions this aside from property tax increases (because gov is to imcompetent to find others ways to make money) any rent increase before 2008's housing crisis is greed because no house prior to 2008 (aside from property tax increases) was affected by the massive mark up on homes with the housing bubble.
In otherwords they already had fixed mortgage contracts (so if they rented them out, the price for rent could have remained at $1,000 instead of $2,000).
    Greed is the bottom line.
And since the criminal leading the country in 2016 home prices were $431,000. and 8 years later $832,000.
How the F did housing prices double in 8 years when that never happened in the full of Canadas history (in fact not even close)?
All houses prior to 15 years ago should still be affordable to rent (they most certainly are not).

The deciding factor being I can stay in Canada and rapidly deplete all my savings and watch this government scratch away more and more of it and have little left for my children or I can move out of Canada purchase a home and live very well only off CPP and OAS and leave so much more for my children. Simple math. And the fact that I don't have to awake each day wondering what new SNAFU this LIB/NDP government has created this day will be a pleasure.

It would be more telling if there was a country wide survey gaugaing how many people wanted to leave the country at this point as it would likely be much higher then 30%. There are a lot of things pushing people out of this country aside from the high costs of living. The high rates of homelessness, the drug crises, the reduction of civil liberties including freedom of speech, and extreme liberal ideologies that have inflitrated every single community in Canada are also pushing people out. My parents immigrated to Canada in the early 1990's from the Balkans and are now going back to Europe due to the situation in this country becomes so unsustainable. My husband and myself who are in our early 40's and my brother and his family are also strongly considering leaving as well due to the current situations.
