Day 20: The Last Before the Burn / CDT Thru-hike 2024

- I intend to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2024 and will vlog my experience. Follow me under "Old Man and the CDT."
I am Mike Current, 61-years-old, and retired military. I served for over 30 years in the US Army.
After retirement, I opened two small businesses. But after a few years, I sold both businesses because they were taking time away from pursuing personal goals, like hiking and sailing.
I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020 and Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2022. I vlogged (video journaled) my experiences under "Old Man and the PCT" and "Old Man and the AT", respectively.
I sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat over the summer of 2023 and vlogged the experience under the TH-cam channel "Old Man and the Sea."

Those caves look interesting!
THE LAUNDRY WASHING WAS HILARIOUS 😂😂😂
Those caves were actually lava tubes that are created when the lava flows create tunnels where the outside cools faster than the inner flow. They are cool to explore, but the going can be tough. And usually filled with bats.
Wow, no sleep clothes, impressive. I can only aspire to be that tough.
Mike, great video. Fantastic views. Love the flower shots. I even enjoy the beetle. Is that gonna be your mascot for this hike? There has been one (at least) in every video. The transparent presentation in your videos is quite refreshing, but I'm beginning to get suspicious that it's just a military diversionary tactic. For example, in today's video, you show us the hiker laundry routine to lull us into a false sense of security that you're not holding back. But, as other viewers have noticed, the seemingly ubiquitous desert stink beetle (AKA pinacate beetle or Eleodes) also appeared today, as in many, if not all, of your posts. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I can't help but wonder if s/he is a top-secret AI robot and the other half of your clandestine tramily. Of course, you'll never tell and we'll never know. 🤖
I think the stink beetles are in charge of trail maintenance, because they are always on trail.
What day did you take the train? I believe I saw Cowgirl on the train 6/9.
I took the train on 8 June.
