Excellent work. My takeaway - tone is in the fingers and pickups :-). You took a cheap kit, had the fun of working with your daughter to customize it and added some decent pickups to make a super guitar - priceless!! Love how fluid your bends are. Wondering what gauge you using - you make them look like 8's :-) was it the fretwork you did helping too?
Hi Stephen. Thanks so much for your comment. The gauge I used are 10's. Maybe my Sausage Fingers do the bends look fluid X) The fretwork was more on the fret edges. They are pretty sharp on these cheap kits IMO.
very cool looking strat and video! Nice song too! "The guitar has unfortunately a poor quality" - How would you say it compares to something like a Squier quality-wise? I found this video because I'm checking out IronStone pickups. Thinking about ordering some Platinums
Hi Zac, when I talked about the poor quality it was about the Guitar Kit quality and not the Pickups. The frets are pretty sharp on their border, and stuff like that. Regarding the IronStone Pickup, they are amazing. If you put them in a Squier I think you'll have a American Fender sound. These Pickups are really detailed in their sound. I noticed that especially when I recorded stuff with new strings. So you can buy IronStone Pickups with closed eyes :)
