I love about the Brothers War soldiers that you'd expect them to be some really powerful overwhelming force but then you realize in a war with giant warmashines and robots and devastating magic the soldiers gotta get tricky and play unfair.
Funny enough with your cavern in this soldier deck, it's more efficient to name human. Gets all your soldiers plus Knight-Errant, because all your creatures are human save the werefox
Always till the end, sensei. I don't know, I always disliked Knight Errant of Eos, even in MonoWhite Aggro or Azorius Soldiers I never ran it because I've always felt only Boros Convoke had the token generation high enough for it. With the number of exiling boardwipes right now definitely Case of the Uneaten Feast is looking underwhelming. Kindred decks in general seem to be in a bad spot right now :/
I wonder if convoke becomes less oppressive without the Voldaren Epicure, and is there a place for soldiers in that environment. Time will tell I guess.
Spyglass Siren is ostensibly a similar card, and it even has flying, but the complication there is that it's blue and the already mana-tight deck would need to be 3 colors...
As much as I would absolutely love boros to be crippled by losing epicure, I don't really think it will matter as much as people think tbh. The novice inspector still makes for a perfect turn one, and bloomburrow is coming out with a decent amount of good one drops to choose from as well. Dang shame.
Knew the deck was gonna be bad but watched it anyway cause it's our boi. About the deck, never liked the knight errant for bo1 soldiers cause it's slow bo3 tech. Fox is a straight up replace for cathar, has flash which is nice but no soldier sinergy. Case was just bad. No amount of lifegain will help against aggro if the deck has no punch. Just two copies of Harbin and as showned there was a time where the soldier count was no enough to make it count.
No siege veteran or warden of the inner sky in favor x8 knights that brick as often as they help? I know you said this deck was trying to be tricky but there comes a point when you trick yourself into something suboptimal. Hopefully bloomburrow will toss the deck a soldier or 2 to help, either that or something that would let full on jeskai soldiers work. Edit: Edit: I missed a line of text on EoS and frankly the elf knight usage feels like it could be replaced by getaway glammer and also have the upside of basically 2 for 1 vs red prowess combo in addition to being cheaper for the Control matchup
@@reeblackmemes4602 I missed that part due to not having had a chance to craft and actually play with the card yet. So fair point, still doesn't change the fact it that the elf knight feels terrible and it makes the fact he is running so much creature/soldier only based based effects. though I am editing the edit out as the base part still stands that not including one of the better payoffs and sustainers for convoke like shenanigens when you're already main decking skystrike officer and EoS feels wrong on several levels.
I was asking myself the same thing. Play Resolute, Zephyr the Resolute, Resolute again. Then why not counter the no more lies and get the token from the original negotiators? Id guess it wasnt his best game.
I think first game we all knew your soldiers would end up swallowed by sweepers, you had a nice army of 1/1 and flyers+ knight. You could ve taken a few swing to stress out opponent life total before it all goes down the bin, 2 swing was not unrealistic.
Against control would it be possible to put the fox back to hand when he blocked with token, still get the flying soldier then replay fox to exile token?
Soldiers have historically been some of the best negotiators, I mean I'm talking about old aristocratic officers and even though they had the easier jobs of warfare they often knew what it meant when negotiations fail
It's crazy how many times they have tried to make that archetype work in standard. Like if you just go look at all of the red/blue cards legal in standard right now that nobody plays it's insane lol. Perhaps it will stick this time around.
It’s cause hey don’t print any spells that go mana positive in standard. The last few good ones were big score and unexpected windfall but even then the deck became more controlly then stormy
I’ve yet to see a “rotation proof” deck seeing any play outside YT content creators. No worry about us playing this deck. Once Bloomburrow got released, we’ll be on new decks or old safe deck for ladder.
You should try another soldier, like one that a wise man once built focus on drawing. Do you happened to know him? But this time use a protect the negotiation! It’s way better
As much as it sucks for you to have rough games like that, I feel somewhat justified in feeling like if Arena wants you to lose, you will lose by drawing 13 lands in 20 cards.
People are getting their last beats in with rotating cards before the deck is gone. I've run into solid rotating builds like werewolves and others recently
Rotation-proof is always going to be a bit weak, just by its nature -- you're deliberately handicapping yourself by not using good cards. I *like* rotation-proof... but I wouldn't mind seeing "one last ride" type decks, where you feature cards that are rotating soon.
CGB any reason you hate playing mono white humans? I have been following you for about a year and have yet to see you play mono white humans? Hope you will make at least one video of mono white humans before rotation. Seeing what you would consider.
@@spenceravila4385mono red has way more exciting turns and decisions, while humans is the same play creature, attack with creatures every turn, every game

Most popular soldiers were counters, pump and straight beat down
Did I even realize I queued into CGB? No!
Was I playing CGB's own Izzet Show-Off deck? Yes!
Still here, still watching,
Izzet "Dig for bird" is one of the most fun off-meta decks. Counterspelling removal to pump feels great
was so hype to see this posted, recently lost a bunch of games trying to make soldiers work in a boros meta, but i still love the deck
Love the honest series!! Great spin on the norm. Thank you cgb!
Against the esper mid range u should have counter the counter in order to get the 1/1 token of the kicked protect de negotiators
And then he would win the game, 100%
Like when you keep the losses in! Feels like a more honest experience and its nice to see a bad day actually
Funny enough with your cavern in this soldier deck, it's more efficient to name human. Gets all your soldiers plus Knight-Errant, because all your creatures are human save the werefox
This video is a good public service announcement, control soldiers does not belong in best of 1
Thank you CGB! You are really the One in best of One!
We appreciate the science! Thanks for playing!
Game five was so hard to watch. I felt every land draw, then the knight. Shuffler is fine.
Brother, we need Jimmy-Ji deck to say goodbye to our memes and dreams. Don’t miss that please, that’s content. Last appearance of Jin-Jo in format
Agree with the keep in Bo1. 3rd Knight before 1st 2 drop is 'Shuffler Is Fine' territory.
Love soldiers, particularly the flash variant.

Why does Red attack on the ground when lethal in the air? We just hit spacebar and go.
Rotation proof - secluded courtyard in the mana base.
Got em

I haven't played MTG in a long time and I'm getting back into it, so forgive my ignorance. Why aren't you running yotian tactician?

They are negotiators. Specialising in Gunboat Diplomacy, and negotiating with extreme prejudice.

But this time use a protect the negotiation! It’s way better
I still have hope for azorius soldiers. Fun deck to play and CGB got pretty unlucky in alot of these matches. And a few misplays tbh.
Man these control decks are so good, they are losing so many cards in rotation so the fun police are going to have a tougher time in the future.
Super impressed by your reduced sodium commitment, I am trying to follow suit. Sometimes I have to just step away... Keep it up!
so sad about this deck it was a blast while it was good and playing circles around your opponents with sentinel was a ton of fun
I see the problem. You're missing 2 colors. The deck needs Baird and King Darien.
I felt that you should have been more agressive.
As much as it sucks for you to have rough games like that, I feel somewhat justified in feeling like if Arena wants you to lose, you will lose by drawing 13 lands in 20 cards.
CGB should have invoked the 3rd amendment. Way too many soldiers sequestering land draws.
Since the adition of Knight of Eos I cant call it soldier deck anymore
32:01 you misplayed here. You should have countered the no more lies to keep the 1/1 from the original protect.
calling it right now, Rabbit and mice aggro will be better than Soldiers post rotation
