BTMC, I don’t think you understand. That’s the problem with the CURRENT system, it’s currently the same regurgitated shit because they don’t just make every map rank able. Except for obvious “this is shit” why can’t every map just be ranked bruh.
If you think for a second, you'll realize that the amount of server storage you would need to store rankings for EVERY decent map is unfeasible. In an ideal world no shit every map would be ranked, but since osu isn't google we have to have a criteria for these things.
@vestakk1550 i doubt it takes up that much space but ranking nearly every single map is probably unfeasible
@@vestakk1550 i dont think this is true tbh. maybe if you included replay data like in top 1000 plays on ranked maps, but just storing the metadata doesn't seem like it would increase the load by all that much; most players are largely submitting their scores on ranked maps anyways. I've always thought it would be very cool for each map to have its own leaderboard regardless of ranked status :p
@@celestialgaze2 how much space does a score even take up both with and without the replay? Isnt it just some letters for the score and then whatever the replay is
@@vestakk1550 oh yeah because bytes of data are a lot for a single score that didn’t make it on the top 1k of the map.

I honestly really appreciate btmc's reaction to this, I think a lot of the stuff he said had some truth in it
why can't there be sotarks maps and cringe rhythm maps, it always has to be one or the other with mapping

damn i wonder if Ed was always such a hypocrite, or did he got like this only in last years? First puts million ads in rarely upcoming youtube videos, then he defends zylice and puts all the blame on badeu, just because zylice is close to him and badeu is not, and now he basically straight up says that he does not care a tiny bit what general playerbase has to say about changes in game (or at least in mapping) just because of his subjective pov, i know he always tries to overreact on everything to be more entertaining but this is just going too far

he's still human like the rest of us, he still makes mistakes here and there with his own personal views on topics. some are even valid like the loud parts of the community not being always right
but man does he over exaggerate his actions to the point that i can't tell whether he's being legit or not, i seriously can't tell when his opinions are obviously biased or not, and which are satirical and which are not
Just to clarify a few points:
- Knowing Ed, he doesn't manually place or even care about ads, this is probably just youtube doing their thing (and he also has ads set to minimum on his twitch stream)
- He never put all the blame on badeu, he just thinks badeu chose the worst possible timing to release the document. Doesn't matter if it was badeu or anyone else, this was just a stupid thing to do and that's the extent of his opinion on the matter
- Of course he does care about the general playerbase and the game in general, and it's because he cares so much that he has such a strong point of view on topics like the mapping scene and the pp system. You seem to be forgetting that, at the end of the day, he's just a player like you and me. He has his own opinions and he's free to express them. You don't have to agree with him, and there's no issue with that. I don't agree with some of the things he says either, and there's nothing wrong with that
But really, saying he's a hypocrite or doesn't care about the playerbase is absolutely not true
He does overreact a bit to make things more entertaining though lol
