Oh how much i felt that " no expectation" at the very end. That release of energetic balance was heart warming. Ending with with "so many didnt" & how you relate to that common word that i find also hard to include here. And am also struggling to upend more then a physical gesture to Illuminate how important it is to uphold the fallen but NOT FORGOTTEN. I was swept away in ur ambience and wooooowed by ur strength. How she describes the manner in which this all came to her, and that she always knew things had happened but they were in the background place you don’t reach, and the moments of forgetting what happened the other day, and how she felt so confused for the first 2 years, is so validating and exactly how I’ve felt. I was also made to feel small, it is by design. I was also told to keep secrets, and if I would speak an uncomfortable truth I was quickly shut down. I remember saying to my cousin “dysfunctional family” and my grandma heard me and aggressively “shushed” me and told me not to say those things. It was a very interesting reaction from her because she is always polite and proper. I think my mom could have been DID because I was always confused by her. She would fly into rages at home but acted like she was the best mother ever in public and kept a nice house. She also stonewalled me if I asked questions that seemed to annoy her. It was usually when I was asking about why certain things are the way they are or asking her why she told me I can/can’t do something. Any response I gave was considered “talking back”. I was raised by fear and authority and I still struggle with asking for help because I’m programmed to believe I will get in trouble or something bad will happen to me if I ask for help or speak up and use my voice. Typing this up I’m even wondering if I should post it. I totally relate to wanting to be small and invisible and quiet. ❤️🩹
I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with this. It sounds like your mother was/is a narcissist. Narcissistic abuse can be very hard to unravel and to overcome, but you are capable of doing the work. The only way out is through- and going through all the processing will bring you much peace.

I believe Carolyn, and others who've experienced the levels of abuse she has, are angelic souls of the highest order. To be able to carry the weight of that kind of pain, confusion, loneliness, fear, and absence of love...to carry it all and not become irrevocably broken or dead is proof enough. But, to have the willingness to remember and see fully, to choose to walk in the grace of understanding and still hold space for love is undeniable proof of an old and powerful soul who came to this Earth to transform the very fabric of it with the light of truth. I read that book ten years ago and my mental health took a steep downturn overnight. I had to work hard for weeks and months to regain some equilibrium because the reality of it was so shocking and horrifying. I intentionally didn't share the book with anybody because I didn't want them to be affected in the same way, but I'm glad I finally decided to face the reality of this world. These are real power structures that exist in our society. What really broke my heart was the author's contention that his friend William Colby, the CIA director under Nixon and Ford, was offed for his knowledge of this. Colby was aware that this might happen and was resigned to it, and he cautioned his friend to get serious about the danger to his own life by persisting in exposing this evil. It's hard not to take a dim view of this place once you open your eyes to the things in it.

Yes,it's absolutely rubbish that this is still happening en mass! All of it ,every day,in every small town all across America and beyond. Yet there is no major news coverage. No push to help victims whose lives are crumbling around them. No support from the community. That' is absolutely RUBBISH!
