    15 minute recording limits, no mechanical shutter, no hot-shoe for flash, single UHS-II card slot, no headphone jack and micro HDMI? It's a very nice but limited camera for the price range. It's not the camera I'm looking for, but the smaller lenses planned would pair well with my S5II.

      Let's focus on the positives. Excellent FF sensor, best in the business IBIS, 6K open gate, 4K 4:2:2 in 10 bit, tons of codec options, built in LUT usage, advanced video features like waveforms, vectorscopes etc...all in a compact and lightweight body for only $100 more than Sony and Fuji's entry level CROP sensor cameras. It's a steal for $1500. No other new FF camera comes anywhere close for that price unless it's Panasonic's own S5II. Buy that if you need the features you mention, many of us dont.

      @@BootStrapTurnerVideography ah ok nice. So you know what a great camera it is. This is 90% of the S5II in a smaller and lighter package. I sold my S5II earlier this year and just ordered one of these. This is how mirrorless was supposed to be, compact and lightweight.

      @@michaelbell75 my primary use is recording theatrical events at local performing arts centers. I can on pause or stop recording at intermissions. I use HDMI to an Atomos Ninja with 2TB SSDs. What would be interesting is if the record limits are gone using the micro HDMI to 4K 30P 10-bit 4:2:2. Then it would be like the original S5 that had 30 minutes limit internal but unlimited HDMI. If it does, be a really interesting option.

      I can guarantee it would have been better on the S5II if it was a photo using the mechanical shutter and imagine the effects you could have got if you used a flash.

      Ive been a professional fashion/portrait photographer for 20 years and have ordered this. I can have a compact and lightweight camera with an excellent sensor that shoots all the video I need with my LUTs built right in and the ability to send right to the client while we are at the shoot, including video ready to go for their Reels thanks to the 6K open gate. All of the same things apply for wedding clients too. I can have photos and video for them while still at the reception. I never even have to touch a memory card or a computer to deliver a finished product on set. Thats how you get things done in 2024 as a working professional.

    The showstopper to me is that electronic shutter only because the majority of my street photography is at night. Yes, you can use low shutter speeds and you won't get banding- that's not where you get banding. You get banding on artificial light, particularly mixed at 1/125-1/250 or faster.
    I wouldn't still mind trying one and see how bad or not it is.

    • @MatthewDangyou
      @MatthewDangyou  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah! I didn’t have much issues at those shutter speeds at night

    • @Raist3db
      @Raist3db 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MatthewDangyou I would have to see that for myself. I still have to see electronic shutters at night in mixed artificial light that doesn't hit banding at those shutter speeds. I don't think the S9 is particularly an outlier to these characteristics. I have found if you are at a certain distance to the lights or more consistent light or tungsten, not much of a problem. Fluorescent- different story.

    • @MatthewDangyou
      @MatthewDangyou  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I personally have yet to run into banding issues. I have a ton of night photography, but I would say this camera has been really fun to use. Going on any travel trips in the future this will be the only camera I personally will bring (unless it is for professional work)

      @@Princeton_Jamesthe S9 is actually a near perfect camera. Panasonic is very close.
      For non pros this is perfect.
      For PROs, you will rig this out as what they always do. Put a cage with handle or a gimbal (grip), attach an external recorder like an Atomos Ninja V (EVF, time limit), use a pro mic accessory with zero latency monitoring (headphone jack), use LED lights (hot shoe), nobody uses flash centered anyways. This is both effective for off site and studio setups.
      So, I dont get the hate. Unless, bandwagon.
      Edit: Forgot about the price. Dont compare it to used cameras. And dont compare it with non-compact cameras. Dont compare it with flagships, this aint one. Dont compare it with mft or apsc. Compare it with the ZVE1, A7C2, A7CR and see how those are priced brand new.
