This was so satisfying to watch. There wasn’t a single cover that I didn’t drool over.
I’m the same!
This was clearly the most enjoyable bookshelf tour I have ever seen. I also love the looks of the Vintage Classics Woolf series. Typical Finnish design, like Marimekko.
This just makes me want to raid waterstones immediately.
lool
wow i'm absolutely obsessed with that vintage edition of jane eyre that was yellow with black sprayed edges
I have never seen these before in W.H. Smith's.
I love EM Forster, but I’ve not found a Passage to India palatable , I guess it’s not the right time yet!☔️🐾☔️
I love seeing all the different editions of classics- it makes me feel better about buying different editions myself! This video made me want to read all the unread classics on my TBR immediately!
I really like the oxford editions! You don’t see them on YT so much but the intros and notes are brilliant. We had to use oxford classics at university
Yes, Oxford and Norton Critical Editions were my go tos at university 📖
Same. I've been saying this all my reading life.
I love the red spine Vintage classics. I look out for them whenever I'm in the secondhand bookshop- they're easy to spot. I know whatever it is it'll be something worth reading, even if I have never heard of it before.
Wow that manuscript of Mrs Dalloway is incredible!😍🤩
I've been getting back into classics lately. This is making me miss all my Penguin Classics and Modern Classics that I left behind when I moved!
Claire! This video is all I ever dreamed off, kept having to rewind to rewatch the beautiful covers 🙌
Re-watching this video, I realized how much I liked the neo-soul background music during the lightning book introductions. Yep, classics-hip!
A gorgeous collection! Every edition of Wuthering Heights is so beautiful!
Such an aesthetic library! I want to read more classics now.. 😍
Thank you!!
i really enjoyed this video, makes me want to go out and just buy lots of books and read and read and read
I love this! I am glad to see I'm not the only one who collects multiple editions of my top favorites. I
I'm 100% with you!
This is my third re-watch. I think it's become my comfort video on TH-cam.
Thank you Martha!!
@@Claire_Fenby you're welcome!! It's also made me go on a classics binge, I just finished Wuthering Heights yesterday, you've genuinely relit my passion for it, so thank you
French Flaps and end Papers. I love the small Jane Austen books.
Such a stunning collection.
The dark academia has taken over bookstagram. I love it but I feel I’m more drawn towards more bright and colorful editions of classics. I love the W H Smith editions you have.
Love your book collection! I can see how you appreciate the outer design of a book as much as its contents, which is quite relatable. ☺️
I think the white Penguin Modern Classics are my favourites, I like how sleek and bright they look.
And there's a small collection of Children's classics in the Puffin Chalk editions which are absolutely stunning, I love those as well.
4:41 - 4:46 : the true MVP of this video
Edit: 7:42-7:46 - is the real MVP. Also, loved the Russian flair at the end. I’ll be pronouncing Karenina this way from now on 😆
this is definitely my new comfort video
Wow! Beautiful collection of books. I love the vintage classics and I would like to get all of Virginia Woolf.
Your are so lucky to have the manuscript book of Mrs Dalloway. It is amazing.
I also love North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, the miniseries was lovely, too. Had fun on your tour :)
Very enchanting video. When you say that you are not a book collector I perfectly relate to it in the sense that I do have a mini book collection, but I only keep the copies I completely adore amd intend to reread at a certain point in the future after the first reading.
Such a pleasure to watch. Many of my favourite books too. What treasures! Thank you Claire and love from Uruguay. 💕
Such an amazing and beautiful collection 😭❤️ one of my favorite book is Rebecca and I must admit I just fell in love with your massive hardback edition of Rebecca 😭😭😭
I love your book collection. Thank you for showing off your favorites, but also for explaining why you love certain book covers. As an author myself, I am always fascinated with publishers who take extra care in choosing beautiful and apt cover art.
Thank you! It's such a big part of publishing and makes a huge difference to the success of a book.
This was the best classic collection I've watched so far. I so love your books!
Thank you so much!
i enjoyed watching this video so much! Such beautiful editions !!
I wish that I lived in the UK.! You guys some of the nicest looking editions of books that I've ever seen!
I want to get my hands on any of the Vintage Russian Lit! I enjoyed this video immensely, thank you for sharing, Claire! 💛💛💛
Beautiful collection! Please show us more of your bookshelves!!!
I have a passage to India and a room with a view and i am looking forward to reading them please stay safe love John from Australia xx
I got quite high watching this video - all these wonderful books! So much so, I stopped it after 2.17, and decided to watch the rest of the video in stages.
Hi. I work in production :) Hard cover books and integral bound/dutch bound/flexi bound books have end papers. It's the part of the book that attached book block to the cover. They can be included in the book block (printed at the same time on same paper) or separated (printed separated, on different or same paper as book block). Soft cover book don't have end papers. the inside of the cover is printed.
So good to know!!
2:12 I never can decide if I like that cover of Lolita or not.
i've never heard of anyone else on booktube talk about revolutionary road 😍😍 it's my favourite book of all-time
Such a great bookshelf tour! I am drooling... I am hoping to post a bookshelf tour this week or next week. Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow !!! Lucky you 😃💕🌹
Delighted to find you through Ariel. I read a lot of classics
I hope you enjoy my channel ❤️
I'm loving your latest videos, and as someone who loves classics, I really liked this one. But also: I REALLY REALLY need to know more about that facsimile of the Mrs Dalloway manuscript!
Your collection is gorgeous. Woolf and Austen are my favourites too
oh my god i wish i could have all the books
what a wonderful collection 🥰
I love your accent, só lovely...☺️
Loved seeing your beautiful classic shelves! 📚✨ I really enjoyed the format of this video as well - such a great way to do a bookshelf tour.
I really enjoyed watching your classics collection.Virginia woolf is one of my favourite authors too.The last book is a wonderful possession.
penguin classics ftw! ❤️ other beautiful editions are so expensive in my country.
😍 Claire, this is what dreams are made of
This is interesting, as atm I'm thinking about the different editions of Penguin classics and what I like nowdays. When I was studying at University 30 years ago (yikes!) I hated the Penguin Black Spines, but now I really like them XD
Also am interested in collecting some favourites from the Penguin Modern Classics, like The Wide Sargasso Sea, The Outsiders (which I read so many times as a teenager, my copy literally fell apart, and it also introduced me to Robert Frost 🙂) I quite like the stripey ones, too, and the Vintage red spines. As long as the font size is not small!
Your collection is very nice, Claire 🙂
Oh my god your books are all so beautiful!
I legit just want a list of these classics because I want to read them all now. 😹 Also, there are so many other Penguin Classic cover variations I now need!! 😻
You made me give another chance for Pride and Prejudice and I loved it! I tried to read a lot of classics when I was a teenager but didn't like them at all. Maybe cuz I tried to read in Portuguese (my native language), but it's so good and so much easier to understand in English with audiobooks. So thank you! I love your channel.
Also, I want to recommend two Brazilian classics, Dom Casmurro by Machado de Assis and Complete Stories by Clarice Linspector. Give them a try I think you'd love them. :)
I love Clarice Lispector!
Wow, all of these books look so beautiful! I have just a big mix of everything and nothing really goes together XD
you are so beautiful & so is your bookshelf lol! love your videos🤍
Thank you Olivia!
these is a DREAM
My Grandfather had a whole Library of Folio Books.
Hi, I'm Ray from hk, love ur bookshelf 😍
Oh, I simply adore your collection! Also, I only just purchased the Vintage Russian Classics edition of Doctor Zhivago since Italo Calvino's Why Read The Classics made me push it to the top of my TBR pile! :)
Awww i enjoyed watching this video so much 💙
Beautiful collection
Nice.
Such a beautiful video! You always inspire me to read more classics. I read Rebecca this week and I absolutely adored it!! I was wondering if you've read Jamaica Inn or My Cousin Rachel yet? If so do you have any videos where you talk about them a bit? If not it's okay!! Thank you :D
I chuckled at "Anna KareniNOOOOO!" haha ♥
Really enjoyed this
Um well first. This is an absolute masterclass of a classics collection, especially for non academics.
A great mix of substance and an appreciation of books as works of art in and of themselves.
Ps. That edition of Lion Witch and the Wardrobe. Where. How. (As ive already written every other publisher-edition name in this video)
Thank you :) It's published by HarperCollins!
Hi, I'm new to your channel and I loved it! You have a beautiful collection. 😊📚
Thank you!
Goals!!!
Your accent is lovely - quaint English but with a sort of punky 'pop' to it, if that sounds okay to you haha. Agree Penguin Classics can vary with the picture...my one of the Rainbow by DH Lawrence is a nice cover in that edition. Really want to read Giovanni's Room. And I have the Modern Classics ed. of Bonjour Tristesse - adore that cover. Also want to read Howard's End - is that a good place to start with Forster?
Haha I think it’s just called coming from the Midlands 😂 I would either start with Howards End or A Room with a View - if you’re a fan of love stories, start with the latter 📖
Would you be able to share with us where you purchased the copy of Virginia Woolf’s manuscript of Mrs Dalloway?
I can’t find the penguin English library edition of Jude the Obscure anywhere!!! So jealous
I bought it like 7 seven years ago so I'm not sure if it's still available :(
I’m a Chinese grad student majoring in linguistics. When I was a undergrad studying English literature I dreamed of having a bookshelf filled with beautiful classics, just like yours. But instead it is now full of linguistic books (they look so boring when placed next to literature books)😣
Hii, Claire!! Last week I finished reading Pride & Prejudice, which I really enjoyed. But since I finished it, I'm struggling to choose which will be my next read. I want to read Victorian classics but don't know where to start.. Could you give me some help? 😢😥
Advice*
I have a whole video on classics you can read in a day so that might be of help! 📖
@@Claire_Fenby thank you so much!!!
Currently reading Jane Eyre
Dear Claire, all your book covers look great. Please don't take this as criticism, I wanted to ask do you actually read your books, have you read all of them.
I very much approach my bookshelves as a little library and have less than 10 unread books on all of my shelves 📚 What happens when you have an MA in literature and work in the book industry 🤷♀️ Why do you ask?
Good
Which of those books, if I were to were to read it, would change my life?
Mrs Dalloway ✨
I will read Mrs. Dalloway.
Wow amazing eyes!!!!!
I grew them myself. I can forward on the instructions.
Where do you buy these additions?
I tend to buy all my books from indie book shops / Waterstones.
ME ENCANTÓ TU VIDEO! yo también subí un bookshelf tour mi canal. Si alguien quiere ir a verlo, significaría mucho para mí 💕 SALUDOS DESDE RD!
U gotta get some wilde bro
I never kept any of my copies from studying him at uni! One day I’ll replace them
Nice to see the collection of a book lover. Probably the surprise of the bunch is Henry Miller's "The World of Sex". Good for you. Way to go.
Why is it a surprise?
@@Claire_Fenby You're right it shouldn't be. It just seemed like your taste ran towards 1800's British fiction and British history, but there was certainly a wide variety of literature on your shelves.
Oh it's the Victorian era you enjoy.
I enjoy lots of eras 📚
Going towards the Brontë sisters books, I am not appreciative of the editions that are colourful. I am totally fond of my editions that are small and chunky with dark colours in the front and back cover as well. Bright colours are distracting.
I organize my books by subject and author. Don't even look at who publishes the book.
This might be a sign that I work in publishing 😂
@@Claire_Fenby you inspired me. I found three books from the same publishing series. Now they are soul mates.
Aw I love it!
People who yet write yet underline in books deserve to be flogged ☻😂
I’m a big annotator of books so you’ve picked the wrong channel to watch ahaha 😂
@@Claire_Fenby nay, I was joking 😂. I totally love your content and highly appreciate your reviews.
I bet she hasn't read more than a couple
I bet you spend your time writing silly comments rather than doing something productive.
Why don’t you think I read?
Would it be my MA in literature or the fact that I work in the book industry or because you’re commenting on a Booktube channel? 🤔😂
