Om my god...my bat cave, very beautiful and musically useful ( I mean for a soundtrack or something like that) You are a great sound designer. I can see that you definitely do make soundtrack music. I also definitely see some Pink Floyd influences also. 👋👋👋
wow, so far my favorite quantum video :-) great presets, especially super synth, batcave, Si Fi and the last part! looks like you can spend endless hours /weeks/months in sounddesigning with waldorfs new flagship
Hey Genshi! Great video! I like the 10:50 moment :) We are 2 happy and excited owners of the Quantum :D With the CS80 I had few years ago, the Quantum is my favourite synth ever!
Thanks! My favorite as well! And I got to work with the CS-80 for a few months when it first came out; that was mind-blowing at the time (with my only previous synth experience before that being the newly released Arp Odyssey MK III which is what got me into synths in the first place!) I've been really digging your videos on the Quantum... I also sent you a friend's request on Facebook a while back (from Craig.)
This synth is a beast, ca, do a anything, but it has the worst factory presets on earth! So thx for sharing custom sounds ‘cause it really worths the price
Finally, someone showing the true power and capability of this instrument. Do you think it is suitable or live performance or is more of a studio machine?
I'm curious about the possibility of using those beautiful presets you designed. Are they available as a download or do I need to purchase them? Thank you.
I appreciate the kind words. Unfortunately, these are not for sale or download. I no longer give out my presets as too many people were claiming them as their own and reselling them. I simply wanted to showcase what the Quantum is capable of. These were all fairly easy to make, so if you have a Quantum, I would just explore! Also, there is a Quantum user here on TH-cam named Co5mo (I think that's the spelling) who makes really beautiful presets that are available for download.
Very tasteful work here! Sound design possibilities are clearly endless... !?! How has Quantum stood up over time (I'm curious, as you've clearly got some heavyweight synths there!) Most demos of it and Iridium sound rather... dunno... *respectfully*... "small" and slightly "nasal" in tone... Not totally in love with the filters, D/A, and output section as a guess. Has it stood up in mixes? Do you feel it can carry some weight --as well as it does the tingly goodness? Not hating on it, just asking for an owner's honest review. I *love* the potential of this thing...
No. Just trying to show what the Quantum is capable of in hopes that it inspires others to explore. I use to sell presets for other synths many years ago, but people started stealing them and claiming them as their own, so never again.
Wonderful sounds! And beautiful studio and what a collection of synths!! :) Curious - how do you have all your synths connected to capture audio into your DAW? Via analog/digital mixer or multiple interfaces?
Thank you for the kind words! At the moment, I have everything hooked up via two cheap analog mixers which are then going into my Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 interface. It's not my ideal setup, and I will be upgrading soon as soon as I figure out the best solution for my particular situation.
Thanks. The lighting is not as bad as it looks, plus I don't usually work in that lighting, I only use it as "mood" lighting for my videos. I'm using the Philips Hue bulbs and light strips, so I can just tell Siri to change the lighting to any color or color combination I want. In fact, I have several scenes setup for various situations. But obviously, even with that lighting, I'm working in it... not bad for an old guy!
ah ok , it looks great. I bought some mood lighting for my studio but im unable to use it - it does my head in , pity as i like it. Yours looks good - like a film set
what are your impressions at this point, is the quantum a keeper ? I like the granular, resonator , and sampler features the most ....the stuff other synths can’t do for the most part.....this seems to be in modular territory in terms of resonator and granular ......
Definitely! Considering that the Quantum can do what no other fixed architecture hardware synth can (and do it so easily) makes it a sound designers dream! And the forthcoming 2.0 update which I've been Beta Testing takes it all to a whole other level... turning the Quantum into a 36 Oscillator per voice powerhouse! I, unfortunately, haven't been able to explore the new 2.0 firmware all that much these past 4 weeks since I've been super busy with my first feature film score for the SyFy Channel, but I have been using the Quantum as my main MIDI controller for all my composing software.
Genshi Media Group thx much.....one other question, can it do chord sequencing , play a chord and record like the pro 2 para phonic mode ? Congrats on your score assignment it’s not easy to get into that business I have a few feature film credits and love doing film scoring .......and the quantum was made for ambient s i fi scoring
Tell me about it! I've been trying to get into film scoring for 20 years! I've done several no-budget to low-budget short films, but finally my first feature... and for Primetime TV! As for the Quantum sequencing, surprisingly, it can't sequence chords! Really strange, though I think that's going to change in one of the updates (the software developer for Quantum, Rolf, is amazing and has been adding all sorts of features and fixes every few weeks!)
Genshi Media Group awesome ......yes the low budget indie world is very busy ( up to 5M ) i want to do a how to video on the business before the year ends to share knowledge ....

This is the first video I have watched where I like what I’m hearing on the quantum. Nicely done
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Genshi Media Group I would love to have that super synth patch.
Hi Genshi thanks for answering my PM. OMG that sounds massive! I can't wait to get my hands on this synth. Keep up the great work! 👍🎹
Woah woah! Such a shame these are not available for sale. You have created something really incredible.
Great patches, as usual! Just traded for one yesterday, your videos are making it easier for me to wait 3 weeks... thanks!!
Thank you for the kind words, and for watching! I'm sure you'll love the Quantum once it arrives!
Om my god...my bat cave, very beautiful and musically useful ( I mean for a soundtrack or something like that)

@@Genshi I did not know that it was you ^^I thought Genshi was your real name ^^ I sent you an invitation on FB :)
I completely agree with you about the misuse of the presets. But thank you for the information. I'll do more research. And always keep playing!
I guess this is a sound designer's dream come true... ;-)
It really is.
Huge!
Amazing Presets, nicely done.
Thanks! :)
ty ...i’m getting convinced to buy one especially after hearing this.
😀✌️👍
GREAT!! AWESOME!!
Thank you!
Excellent! 👍
Great. Fine Sounds with a powerful Machine. For me the Best! 🔝
Dude u should definitely sell these! I understand people will copy but everyone selling sounds runs the same risk.
Just Love The Sounds Good Job Mate Keep it up
First sound is mighty! Sounded like "Lines in the sand" from Dream Theater/Derek Sherinian.
Done well, Sir!
Good job man.
Great set.
Thanks!

Gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh
This Is the dreamsynth for ambient cosmic sci fi soundscapes music
Batcave made for an amazing ultrapad
Batcave and Sci fi soundtrack were amazing! LineOfControl on Gearslutz.
Finally, someone showing the true power and capability of this instrument. Do you think it is suitable or live performance or is more of a studio machine?
Thank you, I appreciate that! And I personally think the Quantum really is more of a studio machine for Sound Designers and Composers.
Proper...

Genshi Media Group Thank you! I’ll be sure to stay tuned when that happens! :)
Unless you want to go the big bucks, multi-audio interface route, I'd highly recommend patch bays.
can the resonator model string sounds like guitar or clavinet?
Yes.
sounds really nice - have to ask - how can you see anything in that light ! ?
Thanks. The lighting is not as bad as it looks, plus I don't usually work in that lighting, I only use it as "mood" lighting for my videos. They always tell you if your working on computer and the like to dim the lights it's easy on the eyes.

Nice synth. How many soundset releases do you think it would take to cover the cost of the quantum?
