  • how yellow looks, feels, and sounds to me. Since we had the conversation in class about the way we imagine/see/hear/feel different colors I have been very fixated on the concept! I imagine color to be a very central and eccentric part of the world that I'm creating. One of my favorite colors and one that I "feel" the most often is yellow. I created a 30 second video trying to represent and convey the way that I see, hear, and feel the color. Obviously things that are physically yellow play an influence on this perception but the emotion that the color conveys to me remains the same regardless of the physical color of the object/experience. For example, sunflowers make me feel yellow not just because of their color but because of the sense of overwhelming happiness, positivity, and hopefulness that their presence and memory makes me feel. Happy, joyful, content, and pleased are just a few adjectives that scratch the surface of the feeling of the color yellow for me. These feelings for me coincide with experiences I have with sunflowers, my dog, sunsets, the state fair, and city lights. For this reason I chose these scenes to help me represent the color yellow to others. I chose the song Lake Shore Drive by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah because when I listen to it and close my eyes and imagine the world everything I see is painted yellow. Throughout my 30 second film I added sporadic filtered lenses and moving transitions because to me the color yellow isn't a quiet or stagnant emotion. It is changing, glowing, shifting, spinning, and twirling. To convey this I tried to give the video of feeling of constant motion and vibrant energy. I think that I would like to make a series of short videos like this one representing the different colors to help me piece together which colors belong in my world.
