It's nice this issue gave us some backstory behind trip, i never understood why superstars didn't bother showing why she was with eggman and fang at the beginning

There's another comic called Fang's Big Break that explained it. Do I wish it was in the game? Sure, but sometimes companies like to use other material, like comics, to help promote stuff.
Ok, after reading this, I seriously hope Trip gets more interactions with Knuckles, they would be great friends.
They’re both guardians and have something to protect, she doesn’t pick on him and is amazed by his skill, which is really refreshing to see if you’re a longtime Knuckles fan, she’s inspired by him, he sees potential in her, their personalities clash organically, like this is seriously the start of something wholesome, I hope Trip isn’t another throw away character, I can see her helping Knuckles with his loneliness and Knuckles help her be a true warrior and guardian, I hope this is a future friendship we see more of.
I hope so too! I'm glad to see that Trip isn't a one and done character and am really happy to see more of her backstory and her excited side too.
@@KevinW1985 I hope we see her more in the IDW comics, perhaps in the next saga, which I prefer takes place after sonic frontiers. it would be nice to see a modern day style version of Trip, and maybe she'll be less shy then

At first I thought this was more playing off of Knuckles more harsh side. But then I remembered this is the Classic era. Knuckles still isn’t that familiar with interacting with others. Him learning more about how to be more gentle and understanding is an important part of his growth. I think it lines up well with how Knuckles was in the annual with Blaze. He’s gone from a guardian who takes his job very seriously to one that still takes it seriously, but also appreciates relaxation and time with others.
I personally like how it's not simply Knuckles realizing he's acting like a jerk and feeling bad about it. Rather, he knows that he's harsh but ends up realizing that his past experiences have proven that he can be and has before been a nicer guy than he thought.
I hope that Trip makes the transition to 3D so that we can see her training with Knuckles pay off.
I’m seriously getting major Cosmo vibes from Trip. The way she’s shy but brave, and also knows a lot of things!

Bruh there is smth about the classic sonic and classic knuckles beef thats so funny to me. Sonic just playfully teases knuckles but is still his friend. Knuckles find s sonic annoying but still works with him and still considers him a friend. Its liek he was shadow before shadow cuz they had the same problem

I prefer this over him being Sonic's big, dumb sidekick. It's more accurate to his character than he has been over several years.

@@sonictrainer It seems the game cannon is ahead of the movie cannon this time around.
Surprisingly, Trip’s armor is powerful enough to repel Knuckles’ punch which is powerful enough to remove the Chaos Emeralds from Super Sonic. My theory is that the armor was made with chaos energy in mind and was passed on through generations to protect the clan from chaos energy wielders.
She can also turn into a whole dragon, Trip is scary lol

Trip and Knuckles are so similar and yet different
The connections are even down to Trip’s armor. (See my comment)
I love those Classic Era stories, they're probably my favorite stories in IDW (although I love everything, the main comics in the Modern Era and the Mini-series/Specials), and I think this Knuckles' one probably just became my favorite out of them, I love everything about it, gosh, what a good story!
The best out of the classic issues. It still has ways to go before we surpass Scrapnik Island imo.
@@hydrocityshark Oh yea, Scrapnik Island is wonderful as well, the mood (especially the mysterious and dark one from the 1st issue), the aesthetics, the story, an art and colloring that complements said story, the character design from the Scrapniks, especially Mecha Knuckles, Mecha Sonic and E-117 Sigma, the message of the story, it sure is a mini-series that is on top! Nobody can deny that Scrapnik Island is a peak mini-series
But... I dunno though, it is a tough choice, something about the feeling that the Classic Era stories gives me is weirdly comfortable and cool, makes me feel right at home, I love the art direction from the classic comics, the levels the characters go to are always so bright and colorful, even the new ones created for the comics, I also love how the stories always feels like an adventure, just that small classic colorful cast that we know and love, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Mighty, Ray, Trip, Honey, Fang, Bean, Bark (and now possibly the classic Chaotix), plus, they remind me a lot of the artworks both from Sonic and the Screensaver/SEGA Harmony magazine and the Sonic Pict artworks made for Sonic Channel, they're just really good stories which I love and always go in to have a fun time
I personally enjoy the classic era comics much more, they’re just pure fun and feel more well paced.
It's very rare for me to like any classic material post-Gens, it was a fine comic but Season of Chaos was better.
What are the chances trip will return and potentially be knuckles sidekick on future adventures. Probably low for modern era but we could see her in more games set during the classic era. who knows she could be the 7 persons knuckles trust to guard the Angle Island in his absence.
I’m hoping for a modernized Trip one day. I’m sure Knuckles taught her to fight like a Komodo dragon.
Yeah, low most likely, Sega likes to stick to a status quo, which sucks cause Trip and Knuckles have so much potential to be guardian best friends and can go on treasure hunt adventures together, but at most she’ll just be brought up from time to time.
Trip and Knuckles' relationship could be like Sonic & Tails or Amy & Cream. A close friendship that also has a mentor/mentee. But both sides can learn from one another.

This was wholesome though it's werid that Knuckles is struggling to train Trip when he trained Amy but whatever. Also what dose the Black onyx do? How strong is it? How did Trip's people find it? Also also I can imagine Sonic and Kunckles aguring how to to care of a younger person,Trip and Tails being similarly named adds to the funnyness.
I think it's mostly because trip have a lot of self-doubt and a bit clumsy compare that to say classic Amy who is well she's a normal girl but she is willing to try anything to be closer to Sonic

Gramps. Walt, that's Trip's grandpa? But I thought Sega's mandate forbade the inclusion of relatives to Sonic characters... With the exception of Cream.
Sonic Team must have reference material for them that made it into the comic because remember all of this is canon
