    One time, I caught a bluegill on a helgrammite, but it was not hooked-the helgrammite had ahold of the fish with its pincers, so the HELGRAMMITE caught the fish
    Probably the weirdest fishing story I’ve got tbh

    The “eels” you caught are sea lamprey, they are a invasive in the USA. They’re very destructive to the fish population in the Great Lakes and tributaries, destroying 40 plus pounds if fish within their life span(roughly 2yrs). They primarily feed on the blood of other fish(which makes them a parasite). They go into streams and rivers to spawn(which looks like you found them trying to spawn, its a good thing you put a stop to that). I have caught King salmon with lampreys still attached to the fish. If you manage to catch them/ pull them in on a fish its highly recommended to kill them(I prefer cutting them up).

    • @ossipozzi1238
      @ossipozzi1238 ปีที่แล้ว

      They might be brook or river lamprey too, they don't have any parasitic behavior at all.

    • @scottwatson4530
      @scottwatson4530 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ossipozzi1238 from what I’m aware of all adult lampreys display parasitic behavior and most lamprey offspring normally filter feed until they aren’t capable of parasitic behavior. By all means I’m no expert and I could be wrong. However I’m going off of my knowledge that I’ve learned and articles that I’ve read.
